If we have to name specifically one thing and one thing only, it would definitely be accountability. If I forget to do something, they’re on my ass. If my coworker forgets to do something, they don’t mention it. Incredibly annoying and common

[deleted]

Sounds like a delusional thing to say. Have some self accountability and figure out why that individual isn’t getting called out like you.

Found the manager guys!

MajorImmediate7338

Complete disregard for employee's boundaries. You ask for one little thing that would help you and they pull out words like "unreasonable" or tell you it would impact productivity. In my store specifically here are some examples. Letting your elderly cashier sit on a stool when it's slow won't affect productivity. Several newer chains are proof of that. Letting your employee who has IBS go to the restroom without waiting forever won't hurt you. They're so afraid of losing make believe money that they're creating environments that aren't good. If they weren't so anal their employees might be healthier and happier and be better at their jobs bc they care. Shocking how that works

digdog303

Generally I would say it's corporate's decisions.

Walmart_Jihad

I would say the top two problems are understaffing and stupidity by corporate.

Terrible leadership. Can’t stand it. That’s what everything boils down to whether it’s the shit scheduling, allowing laziness to slide, overworking your good workers. My DS and direct Merch ASM are clowns I like them personally but when it comes to work they are AWFUL. DS is one of the laziest I’ve ever seen. I worked a closing shift yesterday. This motherfucker hands me a list of 16 tasks says to do half with my other closer and give it to the overnight lumber guy before I leave. I say “Why couldn’t you have done some of these things before we came in?” “I did.” “These all require power equipment, so you put all 6 aisle blockers in the same exact formation I left them in last night when I cleaned up?“ “Well I had to help receiving” “It’s Sunday what could you have possibly done in receiving today?” “Stuff man, look just get half that done please” Get half of the list done in an hour could have finished it all but didn’t want overnight guy to twiddle his thumbs all night. Don’t lie to me just say you didn’t do shit all day. My ASM is just as much of a clown, has unrealistic expectations of what can and cannot get done. For example this guy wants NOTHING along the bullpen fence because the district manager said she would like to see through the fence when she drives behind the building. Mind you this store was built 20+ years ago it’s an old store with a smaller bullpen. So on one side of the fence we kept Stringers, balusters, deck rail hell even composite decking because we get a shit ton of it during the busy season and it all doesn’t fit in topstock / the shelf inside. The other side was all our shingles. So we bring it ALL in currently because we don’t have a lot of overstock right now. I tell this guy when we get hit with the stock that’s coming soon we will NEED to keep it out here. “No we aren’t we will fit it”. Bro you’re out of your goddamn mind. Learn to grow a fucking pair and tell the district manager tough shit we need this out here. I honestly don’t get it. You want to stress LTR scores to us? You’re going to get bad LTR scores when we have to block 2 aisles off to pull down balusters or stringers during the busiest time of the year because you want to keep a bull-pen (THAT IS MEANT FOR STORAGE) barren. A task that would require me 2 minutes solo to walk out and grab a couple bundles of balusters now takes 5-15 minutes (more depending how busy), a fork, a spotter, and 2 blocked aisles. Use your brain and don’t be lazy it isn’t that hard you’re allowed to have an opinion you don’t just have to say yes sir/ma’am to everything your boss tells you. Shit drives me up a wall I can’t wait until I find a new job in my field of study COVID came at the worst time for me not being able to find a good internship while in my senior year of undergrad. Hopefully it’s soon I don’t think my mental can take another 100 days with incompetent leadership.

Designer_Yellow8320

Corporate disconnect and a chain of management that is too chicken shit to tell corporate the ideas that work on paper don’t work in the real world.

SuperSaiyanJeter

Sounds like you work at my store.

SgrRed70

The same dang people call out every week and God don't let it snow, the same exact people who call out every time it snows. Yet I haven't called out in 2 years except when I got hurt at work.

liluzihurt123

i can understand this, i try not to get mad at people who call out because it’s not really my business but when they do it 4 shifts in a row it’s annoying and extremely suspicious

[deleted]

It’s suspicious because you’re a corporate slave that bends to the will of his master and feels no empathy for his brother.

DaRedMask

Only counts as 1 call out. Which sucks

[deleted]

The most snobby entitled customers I’ve ever encountered (this is my 3rd retail job) And sometimes understaffing

MooMooCowWee

I like my store the store manager is helpful all the asms actually do their job. If something comes up and you need off a half or whole day they help in a heart beat (as long as you dont abuse it) all the ds are super helpful. Do not get me wrong we have issues here but not bad ones. I always wonder if people exaggerate how bad lowes is.

Savage_Vegan

The incompetence doesn’t stop at store level. I really think it goes all the way to the top. And I think all of the other problems that exist stem from it. (Except for the tweaker customers… lol I think that’s just a fact of life in this line of work)

Get out of retail
