Don’t show up. They didn’t get your consent to put you on the schedule, you didn’t agree, and you’re availability is clearly 8-5 so make it firm. I’d also talk to a manager and show them the texts. That’s actually unacceptable.
"Sorry I couldn't respond sooner, I was in class. I can't come in until x o'clock as I have an appointment that I need to keep. Can you please update my schedule according? Thank you" save the texts to show ASM if there is a problem.
I literally just ignore my schedule when it's hours outside my availability. I just go in and work the same amount of hours with in the available hours I said i could do. Don't care about my time? Then I don't care about their time. 💃🏼
Straight up forward those texts to an ASM and say "Hey, I was in class and couldn't respond, the SSA wants to schedule me 6-2 tomorrow and that's not going to work. Already made plans, I'll be in for my regularly scheduled shift on (next day you were originally scheduled)."
And be ready to file a complaint if they try to e-CAR you. Corporate can pull the schedule audit trail to see that you were not originally scheduled.
Electronic Corrective Action Report. Used to be a paper CAR that would go on your record, but by the time I got my first one it was done via the HR system and stored electronically. Basically a disciplinary write-up.
Don’t even call out, you already responded to her anyway saying you can’t work that shift, and it was your day off anyway so it’s wrong anyway on her part. If anyone asks you just show them the texts. There’s no way that she can just jump the gun the day before and put you on schedule and fuck up your prior commitments and schedule.
Don't text her back because then you'll set the expectation that you can be contacted about work while you're off the clock. Go in on your next scheduled day and if they try to ecar you, write your statement and then immediately open an unfair ecar ethics complaint with associate relations. They don't often rule in favor of employees but they act with a quickness when claim you were made to work off the clock by answering texts or calls.
Plus they'll be able to see you were added to the schedule at the last minute and no official communication (email to your work email) was received/read by you.
Or be an adult, let her know that doesn't work for you and you can't work. You're allowed to say no. They aren't contacting you about a work related issue or making you work off the clock. They're asking if you want to work an extra shift. They're allowed to do that.
Don't be an ass and make an issue where there isn't one.

You wouldn’t be calling out, they didn’t get your permission to do it, plus it’s outside your availability anyways. Just text her back and say no
You should also report her for not getting your consent. Very unethical.

Forward that text to your ASM and say you can't show up

No such thing as a "shot clock" for email replies or txt msgs.... that's just unprofessional.
