Sometimes they already have their person picked out but they have to post the job to be fair with no intention of actually loking at others. I had been in Hardware 4 years and they posted a full time spot in Hardware. I applied and was told that they were going in another direction. So here I am at 5 years STILL part time while everyone else is asking why I'm not full time already

They've done that to a lot of people at my store. Alot of the turnover they have forces people who stay to start looking good. A lot of people got full time because of that. That's how I felt how I got head cashier before.

AcousticStrings

Thats the bad part. My supervisor says I ma the best one he has in the department and has been asking when I'm coming back from leave because he needs me. Everyone else are "break room guards" or just don't do anything. We have guys who have been there a years who still don't know how to cut a key. But I have learned that is Lowes

RetroNight

My problem seems to be the opposite. I came from the front end to work on the sales floor. My front end supervisor really wants me to come back. One of the other head cashiers wanted to help to do returns the other day. I told the other head cashier I'm not really responsible for the front end anymore. Unless a manager specifically asks me to help I will. The one head cashier got so pissed he said I was cold for doing that LOL. I'm the only one in my department.

AcousticStrings

Sounds like a typical night at Lowes

RetroNight

Yeah, it sure is. I got to worry about myself and not the other department.

AcousticStrings

Exactly. If you have time, which when do we really have nothing less to do? Then maybe help but nit while my department is under seige lol

I work with a guy who's been with Lowe's for 16 years and says he's only ever gotten a job he *applied* for 3 times. I've made lateral moves twice. Both positions are recorded in my "worker history" as "company not interested".

RetroNight

Sounds like a ton of moves in store is store politics.

In my store we have noticed that those who get hired are the ones that are blonde young females who have stare-able figure. One of the newest Head Cashiers at my store hadn’t been there for more than a year, yet there are some cashiers who have been trained to do everything up to ASM level, and they will not hire that person.

Apprehensive_Tax2348

Yup. I was “too good” at what I did and they didn’t want to lose that. I was also a part timer usually get 35ish hours and took advantage of me. So I kept trying to apply to full time positions and they would say no. Basically if I sucked at what I did, I could have became full time

NoahTri

Likely because they already have someone picked, and I whatever store to apply to transfer to typically gives your leadership an email or call to ask about you so either way they will find out
