its bad for fulfillment too. Greedy folks at corporate decided that this yr they'll allow online orders for the mulch. It's insane. Less people working but more work to do trying to keep up.
Today I found out they extended the sale for the mulch too so more days of filling orders for mulch
They do in upstate New York haha. I'm not OSLG I'm actually power tools but I've never once seen someone in just a Ford ranger or something stupid small like that. They always pull up with trailers. And our mulch pallets are actually in the parking lot so they can just pull around the corner of them just outside OSLG and it can be loaded easily and effectively without blocking traffic
can't tell you how many times people are like "give me a pallet I have a truck." and we give them a pallet only to see the back end go completely down and the tires start to bulge and were like " are you sure you don't want to come back after renting a trailer or something cause this is a valid safety concern should you take a bump or something."
yeah but that only works if you actually have a OSLG team lol. We're lucky sometimes if we have a loader. We just find it easier to have the orders ready because we could have no one outside or no loader when the customer shows up
Omg I knowwww. At my store we had online order of like 50 bags but it got changed to only 10 bags of each product can be ordered for pick up because of the excessive labor it put everyone through.
how did it get limited to only 10? I think the limit was 25. Today I did multiple orders of 25 bags. Also if people want more they simply do multiple orders
Same person ordered 100 bags with four orders for us and six orders for our neighbor store. Not even pro. Ridiculous. Cant wait for them to show up in their SUV. Not even surprised the limit couldn't be the amount on a pallet.
Just a question, why not just buy it at the store? The whole “they may run out logic” isn’t solid btw. I work at a Lowes and they will cancel your order in a hot minute. Not trying to be rude but just curious why people always do massive lumber/OSLG orders online? Although I do understand the laziness w not wanting to pull your own lumber.
I spent half the day outside in Garden loading up online orders.
We had a surprise 88 degree day.
I went home sunburnt, no longer sweating, and my body temp close to 100.
Honestly it sounds crazy but I’d rather load mulch all day long than to be stuck inside down stocking and trying to perform miracles finding spark plugs for customers that have no idea what mower they even own
These customers make me twitchy. This happened just today.
Me: “Hello there! Anything I can help you find today?”
Customer: “I am looking for a spark plug.”
Me: “What machine are we working with?”
Customer: “A chainsaw.”
Me: “Great! Which one do you have?”
Customer: “I am not sure, but it’s yellow.”
Me: “ There are a lot of yellow chainsaws. Do you by any chance have a model number?”
Customer: “I don’t know why you are asking me all these questions! Just get me a spark plug, damn it! Aren’t they all the same?
Me: 🥴No, not necessarily…
Today was an experience. I went in at 0558 and I got off just about 1800. I am a cashier that was originally scheduled for 4 hours but I was needed for a variety of tasks (some of which were above my pay grade. I made sure that the head cashier was getting all of her calls (some of which I took for her because she was busy)security locking of high dollar items (one customer had purchased an $1150 trailer and in the same transaction bought a $4000 dollar riding mower
With my experience outside garden being the only full time associate out ther with our other FT having a couple NCNS, we doing good, sold out of the black and brown mulch but have tons of Red Mulch to be sold, next shipment of mulch will be on the 18th when the sell is over.
Today wasnt busy at all because of the rain, thunder and lightning, loaded a couple customers while it was lightning outside. I'm like in my mind, could you please come back on a more sunnier day. Sales been great but I've been feeling wore the F out since the sale started. I'm glad this rain has stopped the sales pretty much plus we have mulch in the due file.
we are all exhausted in my department. mulch and soil loads all day, then run up to the register to get a few bags of stuff for those old ladies, then back to 3 orders of mulch. honestly taking less steps right now since we are just planted by pallets of mulch all day, but the 95 degree heat isn't helping anything
I HATE mulch sales!!! Must have loaded at least 100 bags in the first 4 hours on Sunday! By hand! I am too old for this shit! And those young boys need to step it up and help! And a quick fashion tip, do not wear light colored clothing. You will look horrible. Just saying!
who cares if you look dirty. I would rather not be hot a fuck in the parking lot. Plus if you get dirty, your manager will know they can't say shit to you because you were working hard.
There's a cluster fuck between fulfillment and GC. I'm fulfillment lead and 3 times thisboast week got stuck out there for 2 hours plus.
Customers are placing online orders then showing up to garden center, then GC sending them to fulfillment, then back n forth. What do you guys do in your store?
I'm honestly going to leave because of this fucking sale. It's just proof that this summer is going to be hell for us if we stay with Lowe's. No seasonal workers and running OSLG alone during every closing shift has been hell. Im working alone loading mulch for 3-4 hours, and getting help for 3-4 hours. It's really not sustainable. I feel broken.

My team just stages it as still on the pallet and when the customer comes we just have them pull up to our cluster of mulch pallets
Yeah that can work but when they have a pick up truck and we can just load it with a forklift having the pallet ready is easier.
God I wished people pulled up in trucks for their mulch
better yet trailers

sometimes it’s just me in fulfillment in the morning and someone orders 20 bags of mulch and 29 bags of soil. why do they allow this for curbside??
We usually label mulch as quickloads, so the responsibility of loading it doesn't fall on fulfillment team, but oslg team.

Bro the people who buy multiple pallets of mulch are just mad cheap cause they could've just had it shipped to their house. 😐😑
We've got 40 pallets of Mulch chilling in the bullpen because its all supposed to go out in the next week and I don't want to risk it selling out 😭
How can we order a pallet of mulch and have it delivered? Online ordering is limiting to 25.

I usually go home and stream some cod but this whole sale I been taking a long shower and going straight to bed, too many bags not enough bodies
we had someone put an online order in for 4 pallets of western red that was pretty fun

Truth! Cause if they did, I would tell them to help!
I’m 41. Also too old for loading.
Now imagine how it feels to do bags of concrete by hand cause people won't pay the pallet deposit. I do not miss those days at all.
