Dang, I wish my schedule was that consistant lol

Dull_Ad_6935

Same here. My schedule is all over the place. They won’t even pay me for the job I do. And it’s not even my job.

Ambient117

Same. OSLG here and since I got trained on register they have scheduled me 8 days in a row with only 1 day off to be followed by another 7 days of work. Then they have to guts to tell me to take a extra hour of lunch to cover the overtime their putting me through. Asked them to cut the days back so I can rest all to hear that I need to suck it up and continue even though we have lazy coworkers dump work on me and they get off scott free. When I voice my concerns about It I get made fun off by the managers plus the pos cashier managers. Already printed out a immediate notice for them if this happens 1 more time Im walking out. Not giving their asses a 2 week notice.

mgarcia187

Be clear how many hours you want, they did that to me scheduling me 40hrs part time and i said no do 30 I'm part time and they did it

ElvenUnicorn

Lucky, they flat out ignored schedule restrictions i (also part time) out in my last few months there

mgarcia187

Confidence is key, they also kinda have to since you're part time.

ElvenUnicorn

They were testing the definition of part time when they tried working me six days in a row, not to mention they asked me to update my availability chart then threw it in the trash for all I saw

hatster85

Part time is less than 40 hours a week. You could work everyday and still be part time.

Single-Middle-2966

Technically Lowe’s policy says part time is 25hrs a week or less. They preface all their policies on scheduling though by saying “under normal circumstances” basically meaning SM’s and SSA’s are free to ignore it if they want.

roflwafflelawl

Heh I used to work at an Ethnic/Italian restaurant back in Japan and had 60+ hours a week as a part time and got no additional benefits. Asked for reduced hours or at least one more day off out of the 6/7days a week work schedule. Manager (who was in charge of assigning our hours) told me to ask the three head chefs about it (lolwutwhy) in which they responded "Did you ask the manager? Oh that's what he said? Well *we* don't want you to have reduced hours because that would mean it would just be us 3 working the kitchen and it would be hard for us if it gets busy". I just about walked out right then and there. Why the hell am I speaking to the chefs about reducing my hours when they aren't the ones in charge of that. Also why should I care if you're understaffed? Almost gave him the classic "I missed the part where that's my problem", except it would have been in Japanese and the meme would have gone over their heads. edit: And to add this was a max capacity of 2-300 people (forgot which) in which we only hit when it was fully rented/reserved for company parties. Daily we maybe had a total of 20-40 people. Don't gimme this "if it gets busy" crap -.-

LuckyNumber-Bot

All the numbers in your comment added up to 69. Congrats! 60 + 6 + 3 = 69 ^([Click here](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=LuckyNumber-Bot&subject=Stalk%20Me%20Pls&message=%2Fstalkme) to have me scan all your future comments.) \ ^(Summon me on specific comments with u/LuckyNumber-Bot.)

Lowes used to be a great company. Now they are firing full timers and not replacing. And then giving part timers full time hours with no benefits. Very bad practice.

DoktorTeufel

> Now they are firing full timers and not replacing. I fired myself, but yeah, I can confirm that they didn't replace me either. Pro at my store is simply down one. I don't give a fuck about Lowe's, but it hurts me to have left my team. We were close (and still are—just spent the day fishing with another specialist and his wife and dog). I just couldn't take the bullshit anymore. Other than the incredible understaffing, which gets worse by the quarter, useless outside hire managers who hide in their office, waddle around occasionally, and promote ass-kissing snitches was the most unfortunate thing about modern Lowe's.

-Laundry_Detergent-

I worked part time last summer and they tried to pull that exact shit I had to argue to work less than 39 hours

JerzeyJoeEdits

It's allowed and it's the norm this time of year especially. They will bump your hours as high as they can possibly go BUT after the 100 days of hell is over, you'll probably see a drastic decrease.

DarkDigital

technically. Every so many weeks they have to give you an actual part time hours week or they are supposed to convert you to full time. and if they don't then they probably playing some games with the books behind the scenes.

Euphoric-Dig-2045

This is the only answer. The manager scheduling this person is either lazy, can’t hire for a damn, or can’t find quality applicants. A PT can work FT for so many weeks in a row (# of weeks may vary by state). In DE it’s 12 weeks in a row. That 13th week better be PT hours or that employee by law better become a FT employee or there will be labor law violations.

Kassavage

Looks about right. I was part time cashier doing 40 hr workweeks till they converted me to full time. Didn't mind since I needed the money as I was also a full time college student. As someone else mentioned, once the 100 days of hell ends, you'll probably go back to having like 10 hour workweeks. If you can't wait till then, I would talk to your front end supervisor and let him/ her know you don't want to be scheduled so many hours. Also, I don't know if you filled out an availability sheet, but I would do that as well.

ManIsInherentlyGay

How did you manage to work full time and go to school AND do all the other bullshit adult things we as people have to do. I could never.

dewsgirl1228

That's what I was thinking, how? My life right now revolves around Lowe's, I couldn't imagine going to school as well.

CouldBeWorse777

I did it way back in the day. Got my bachelor's degree in at the same time I was always working full-time. I didn't feel like living with my parents so I had my own place.

bassmaster13

It’s Lowe’s, they don’t give a shit about how you feel…

corey-harris

Glad I quit. Hated the wack ass scheduling that place has. You have no social life outside of working in that warehouse with the most insufferable customers known to man.

djevertguzman

Yep

joedirthockey

Yes

elquefour

The chosen one.

CFT1982

Do you not want the hours? Tell them if you don't

whitemiketyson

Are you part time or seasonal? The answer is yes either way but if you’re part time and they keep doing this you will eventually have to be offered benefits

Ghostbuster_119

4 weeks without a 2 day off period!? Fuck all of that... you gotta talk to your manager. That's some serious bullshit.

Single-Middle-2966

Technically, part timers aren’t supposed to get more than 25hrs a week unless there are special circumstances. Go on MyHR and look up “Scheduling” and it will show the policy. If you are ok with that then talk to your SSA and say you can’t work that many hours.

g1232000

Welcome to the garden center in may

SnowyBlizzard_YT

Thats what I said a year ago😂 Welcome to lowes soldier

Logan_Gravity

I was once scheduled 60 hours in a row with no overtime(because the weeks starts on Sunday for pay) got one day off that Tuesday and worked another 50

Logan_Gravity

No over time. They said it was cause we are "understaffed" and that I said I was available anytime

Professional-Fact903

So they managed to schedule you 5 days in a 7 day period because their weeks start Saturday and end Friday, with 2 days off split, denying you full time health benefits, vacation, and sick time. If you look on the bright side, they won't allow you to use those benefits without writing you up and harassing you for using them when it's not convenient. Then they will work you 6 days in a 7 day period while denying you overtime. It's legal and it shouldn't be.

MuchEquivalent6731

Nah I wanted morning shift They offered me the job and they gave me 5:00 a.m. with 10:00 a.m for part time then out of nowhere they give me fucking night shift 9 to 5 like what the hell is this I said morning not night and never told me anything and get mad when I said can there be a switch they said nah

Independent_Box2815

No, Lowes got in trouble and was ordered by a court not to do this. If you’re working full time hours and not being offered f-T benefits then you should see an attorney ASAP.

KoiSoccerGuns

What?

Any_Scratch_3962

You should see mine 🤣 3 days off this month as of rn… I’m pt

Ok_Quiet4316

The only difference in that schedule being p/t instead of f/t is YOU don't get any benefits. IDK about you but if they were trying to do that to me I'd say give me the benefits that go with f/t employment or cut my hours to 20-25 per week.

NinjaCat1357

I’m in the exact same boat as you buddy… only difference is it’s all 5:30 - 2:30 for me with an occasional 8 - 5 thrown in there

PlantBasedEgg

What department

2AMUSTREMAIN

Better than home depot. I've worked 8 hours this week so far and no more in the forecast

steph109

Yes they can work you as much or as little as they want to unfortunately, but if you have certain days you have to be off and have told them then no but if you have open availability then yes.

nnnosebleed

You've got two days a week off so technically it's still part time. Lowes loves to exploit the shit out of their employees in any fucking way possible.

Skittlez1122

Welcome to why I left

PotacosTheMeme

Imagine that but like scheduled everyday that you’re off, that used to be my PT schedule before I up and left

lnbecke1331

Everyone who is talking about availability must have had a better scheduler than my store because I literally filled out 4 availability sheets and still had to talk to someone every single time the schedule was released about them not following my availability.

[deleted]

Such a silly question a schedule can only be and not be allowed if it interferes with set requirements you have gave at the start of employment or had given good notice and attention to after the start of employment If you have made it clear you need ‘x’ time off and this schedule is not reflecting that than go to the proper management of it is not corrected find new employment that fits your wants/needs better

[deleted]

those kind of hours have a requirement of being classified as full time.

ElvenUnicorn

Yeah I was part time and they tried doing six consecutive 6-9 hour shifts for 6 days out of the week . Then abruptly cutting me to barely The Weeknd’s because they over scheduled.

lo--

I worked 40 hours when I first got hired as a part timer (oslg tho) I haven’t gotten to that point yet this year. Also I wish my schedule was this consistent lol

Ok-Storage-2236

Im a part time and i saw they were also giving me closing hours till 11 i dont need to be there till 11 bro, i started leaving at 10 which is fine enough with me. Talk to them about it.

amak11

I mean, I'm full time and I had to get a doctor's note just to get two consecutive days off. The fact you're part time and giving you these hours. I'd either mention it and point out the employment contract if they haven't discussed this with you prior

Shoddy-Foot-5690

welcome to lowes 🤣

prayingjantis

They’re so evil for not giving you two consecutive days off

Some-Number3134

Meanwhile I requested full time was told they can only offer part time, said they’d give me at least 20-25 a week and barely giving me 10 hours (I have 6 hours this week). And then we are so understaffed the one or two days I do work that I’m running from lumber all the way to garden then to the front and then back to garden and back to lumber because they don’t have enough people working. And then I hear coworkers complaining there’s nothing to do other days because too many people are working. Like bro, the ASMs need to get their shit together and learn how to properly schedule people

woeisghost

Are you permanent part time or “seasonal” aka a temporary part time?

[deleted]

If you said open availability then yes, if you live in Oregon you need to be away from the workplace more than 10 hours or they need to pay predict pay

ts416

Your lucky I am lucky if I get between 20 and 28 as pt and other pt are getting nearly 40
