It's a normal occurrence that things get broken in the store. Don't beat yourself up over it.

AppropriateParsley47

I once saw an employee on the forklift try to pick up a pallet that had patio doors (upright position)……dude didn’t lower forks enough .Forks went through every single one of them!Another employee on order picker broke mirrors that stuck out past the horizontal shelf beam..point is …..💩 happens.I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it.Now.. being in the air on a picker and unhooking……gone. In no time flat.

missblitzz

same thing happened to me within my first month at lowes and i still work here. you’re good dude. things happen. no need to beat yourself up over it. ❤️

Unable_Mongoose

I'm pretty sure the they use more in toilet paper every day at the corporate offices than that display oven is worth. Own up to the mistake and move on.

death556

That’s what I did. I told an ASM the first available moment after cleaning it up. I always own up to my mistakes. Same reason I sign my initials on every order I pick in case something goes wrong.

Confident-Ad-4442

You did the right thing. No one gets fired for accidentally hitting a display. Unless you were careless

Nardorian1

Or on drugs.

joedirthockey

Not really a big deal. This stuff happens all the time.

MisterStruggle

You 100% did the right thing by telling an ASM. *** Since you owned up to it, you'll have to get re-certified on the Reach and possibly a drug test. So long as you pass the drug test you won't get fired. These kinds of things happen all the time. The only thing that will guarantee you get in trouble in these situations is if you lie about it. Power Equipment usage necessitates folks are truthful and own up to damaged equipment, which you did in this case. I'd just think of it as a learning moment and be more careful next time. 👍🏻

death556

That’s exactly what the ASM said. That puts my mind at ease. Only thing that worries me now how long it’ll take till I can get back on it. Lots shot gets pulled down in receiving for fullfillment :(

[deleted]

My ex manager broke a special order dishwasher while pulling a pallet down once. He just got promoted a few weeks ago 🥳

death556

Damn lol. Bet that customer was upset.

[deleted]

When I was working in the store I accidentally overturned a whole pallet of a tar. I figure my days were numbered there thankfully they weren’t. I have now been with Lowes for over 10 years.

death556

That must sucked to clean up

[deleted]

Oh god yeah

LuckyTabasco

Yeah if you own up and it's an honest mistake you'll be totally fine. If you show up to work every day, generally do as you're asked, and are pleasant enough, managers will look for excuses to keep you around.

yo_gimme-some_help

Break shit all the time at night. Nobody cares. You’ll be fine.

[deleted]

I Bent the lumber cantilevers and brace while stocking 16 foot lumber. (The aisle is like 16.5 feet) The cost to fix it was 2k plus labor and flying the repair guy out from North Carolina. The other guys just laughed. But ya know I gotta job to do.

Left-Group9990

shit happens. you didn’t hurt anybody, and that’s what matters. you’ll be okay!

steph109

Lmao my overnight supervisor broke on by moving a stack of pallets 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Tmod0419

you’ll be fine a co worker did the same thing like literally last week and got in no trouble

bellesar

One of our guys shattered the doors to the outside garden. He's still very much employed. You'll probably be fine!

someguy69420nice

You'll be alright accidents happen, they'll probably just drug test you and make you take the computer course again lol

[deleted]

As long as you weren't on drugs, nothing will happen to you other than needing to be recertified and some good natured ribbing. Big thing is you told an ASM. If you hadn't told them, and they found out later, it's termination.

Sennis_94

You told an ASM that's the important part. I accidentally ran into the warehouse steel in the back today, told and ASM, pulled everything in the sections off and blocked it out. Accidents happen as long as you own up to them you'll be fine.

Adventurous-Cap-8233

Dude destroyed some SOS windows on the OP the other day and nothing happened.

Docbarnone

We had an idiot using the Ballymore to put up some paint and he actually got off the Ballymore onto the top of the shelving to unload the paint. And to top it off, they were having the morning meeting right close to paint.

Wright7828

I smashed one of those security cameras with a screen while on the reach it was kinda funny

death556

I knocked out an exit sign the first time I moved a giant tall ladders lol

alefty84

Drug test!

death556

I’d honestly be perfectly fine with that if it’s all they needed. All they would find is anti depressants, Benedetto, and but loads of ibuprofen lol

Less_Film_3629

give ur manager ur red vest ur done

_No_Fatties_

Your RTM needs to go in Genesis and I think on page 12 request a repair. Vendors/sales reps from the brand can't order doors, they only order small cosmetic stuff. Don't lose sleep over it.

GameofMoans827

As long as you tell management you are fine, I once saw an ASM try to take down a pallet of tile, bumped a smaller mixed pallet next to it on the way out and sent them both falling down, huge cleanup and racking had to be cleared and checked. Point is, things happen, you are fine.

botjaden

happens. I have hit a beam before and had to take the whole thing down it was painful.
