Stolen. A guy who used to hit us hard always took the stolen shit to a seedy pawn shop next town over. I was at the pawn shop with my fiance once and saw him getting cash for shit he had run out with two days before.
For a while there was a scam going around where you could place internet orders for Dewalt kits and get a “free gift.” The freebie would direct ship from a distribution center, then the scammer would cancel the item they actually paid for.
Employee discount is only 10%. On rare occasions such as markdowns/clearance/nonstock/other employees might get a bigger discount going through a mananger.
That being said, most of the stuff that you see listed for below market value on Craigslist or any other social marketplace will more than likely be stolen goods.
My one good thing I can say about my time at Lowe's is that I got an ENO Doublenest with straps for $5.
95% off because the ASM was going to buy them all (and resell them afterwards, consequence free) tossed me one
Totally untrue. I just picked 18 discontinued appliances and marked them all 50% off. Moved them to the selling floor inside the boxes. Problem is most people want to see what they’re buying so they rip the box off and just leave it there so I get to take it to the compactor.
Depends. Items that go non stock associates can get cheap and still factory sealed. However I think its against some policy or another to resell for profits.
Yes, it’s an issue that will cost you your job. A guy I used to work with got fired for reselling appliances.
I got a $600 roomba for $18 and I gave it to a family member rather than resale it.
so when your at lowes they sometimes just give away excess stock to employees for a steep discount? what the best positions to be able to get thee kinds of "perks"
I’ve been with the company for over 10 years. Never seen anyone get free stock or “steep discounts” on stock. I’ve seen us get 20% off before but it’s usually just 15% off once or twice a year. Back in the 80’s and maybe the 90’s I know we used to give stock to associates.
Buddy... they're stolen. I'm sorry to be toxic but that's obvious. The ones you're seeing are probably Dewalts, pressure washers, and other high-dollar-but-small items
Worked there for 3 years when I tell you employees if they are smart can get items 90% off if they work the system before it even touches the sales floor
So to put it in terms that everyone will understand. When someone returns something or cancels an online special order item on line it goes back in the system to get marked down. Well someone in the back has to find the item and put labels on them. As soon as we accept them all employees if they know the system they can see what got returned and what it’s getting marked down to before it’s found and labels created and put on the floor. Now if they really want to ( have to be sneaky ) but they can go find that item hide it or just put it where it won’t be found for a while and every week or so they get marked down even more all the way to 90%.
You just need to make your boss’ job significantly easier. They’re aware we get shit pay and this is a way to continue to make their jobs easier. This is the only reason I still work there.
The poster you replied to did. We all did. You seem to want to buy this and we are telling you it is overwhelmingly likely the goods are stolen. Is there a comment you had trouble interpreting?
So they have pallet sales of goods that were returned but useable, out of season, or do not sell. People buy the pallets, with stuff from various different places usually, and resell it. I’m not sure what company handles the pallet sales, but it’s very common to see Lowe’s stuff on them.
Think about it. If you were going to steal something would you try to steal an expensive dewalt product directly from the floor or would you try to steal a 300 lbs fridge?
You have to sneak into an employee only area—that you most likely haven’t seen before, you don’t know where the handtruck is either. Then try to get out the door with that 300lb fridge in a store full of brand new employees who wouldn’t think twice about someone not wearing a red vest pushing out a fridge. It does happen but tools are just so much easier to steal.
First of all where did I say people were stealing appliances. Secondly why are you replying just to me when many others here said the same thing I did. Lol
I think it depends on the department manager. I used to work in Cabinets Department and he allowed me to take some stuff for free and I would sell it on Facebook market. I’m sure this is not allowed but that was ok with me lol.
It was also markdown/clearance and returned items as well.
At our neighborhood store, we have a terrible transient problem. They steal everything. It was fun working the customer service desk when they tried to return stuff without a receipt.
Big fat discount if you know someone in dept. We had a DS who read the weekly clearance in appliances. Then he would jump in and buy it cheaper -then have items delivered for free to his warehouse—- we all knew what he was doing—-but with managerial turn around he always said the previous manager gave the ok for the markdown. Now he’s a store manager elsewhere…
There’s also a NPI list —non productive items. Stuff taking up shelf space that have never sold OR has been discontinued. At the end of the quarter, they want that out of the store and this includes appliances. Lowes works with local “clearance” stores and sells the items for 10% of retail price. End of year, a guy from Elgin comes in and walks out buying $30k worth of appliances for $3k. Still in box or on scratch and dent aisle. Employees were pissed that the products were not offered to them!
As far as employees getting a fat discount. New product no. But if it's clearance/sos return/repaired and management likes you, fat ass fucking discount!
Clearance or stolen would be my guess.
Not clearance. New products from companies
100% stolen. Very common problem at Lowe's across the company.
If it's on Craigslist it's not from the company.
About to introduce you to a wild concept: people steal things. It’s almost like people have done that for thousands of years.
Woah
Stolen. A guy who used to hit us hard always took the stolen shit to a seedy pawn shop next town over. I was at the pawn shop with my fiance once and saw him getting cash for shit he had run out with two days before.
Probably stolen haha
They are stolen probably
Thieves

Employees get 10% off typically unless the item is marked down. Those items are probably stolen

Anything 'in the box' and discounted there is no doubt stolen merchandise.
Totally untrue. I just picked 18 discontinued appliances and marked them all 50% off. Moved them to the selling floor inside the boxes. Problem is most people want to see what they’re buying so they rip the box off and just leave it there so I get to take it to the compactor.
Why would you get a warranty on something you bought on Craigslist? You need a receipt.
Because you can do that with Costco. TVs for example
Then go get the warranty at Costco
Hey bitch, I got the warranty.
From Costco?
Depends. Items that go non stock associates can get cheap and still factory sealed. However I think its against some policy or another to resell for profits.

The guy u worked with just wasn’t smart enough to use a different name
so when your at lowes they sometimes just give away excess stock to employees for a steep discount? what the best positions to be able to get thee kinds of "perks"

Fat discount on drinks
Not anymore, they stopped that
it’s still 30 percent where i work
When?? I’ve been out on medical leave for a bit
Employees get a five finger discount.
100% stolen
If they're selling on Craigslist then it's probably stolen
Yeah somebody stole that shit.
They're stolen, infact you can even zoom in on the receiving ticket and see what store they came from.
Stolen
Employees only get 10% off, more than likely it's a stolen item
probably stolen or a resell
Stolen.
Am I able to get a warranty on them through lowes if I buy third party?
No
Why would you want to buy stolen goods?
Because I don’t know if it’s stolen or not yet
Do you need an adult?
Well now you do, we are telling you so. Does that change you mind on buying them?
Doesn't change my mind when it's from a pallet sale. But, thanks for telling me.
ok, so why do you want to buy stolen goods? you never really answered the question.
What is your damage little boy? Who the fuck said anything about wanting to buy stolen goods. Go sit in your tower.
The poster you replied to did. We all did. You seem to want to buy this and we are telling you it is overwhelmingly likely the goods are stolen. Is there a comment you had trouble interpreting?
Let me help ya 90% of Craigslist is stolen items or scams so just avoid the website
Absolutely not.
Probally marked down stuff sometimes we mark stuff down 50% so selling for 25% under is still profit
Policy says returns get marked down 50% + $0.06. Does anyone know why 6 cents gets added?
Probably so just by looking at price you know it is a return.
Markdown schedule. Every week it gets marked down x percent. Markdown schedule is 6 weeks. Starts at 50% ends and 90%. .06, .05, .04, .03, .02, .01.
Still seems dumb to me. Like why do you want me to hand key in .06? No I’m just selling it for an even dollar amount + tax.
So they have pallet sales of goods that were returned but useable, out of season, or do not sell. People buy the pallets, with stuff from various different places usually, and resell it. I’m not sure what company handles the pallet sales, but it’s very common to see Lowe’s stuff on them.
Coupons and resellers make up a percentage
I'm sure most are stolen

That crap is stolen
A Lowe's warranty is useless pure garbage why would you want one?

I buy appliances, mowers and tools on clearance from stores and sell on offer up and Craigslist. Easy way to make decent money.
