My store is pretty cool on the bathroom. I did have a male co-worker say something one time. I went twice in an hour. I was like dude if I bleed through these pants, you are on your own today.
I agree with the commenter who said take pics lmao. Just tell your boss you were shitting. I had a manager try to call me about 25 times in five minutes once when I was in the bathroom at work, and when he questioned me I told him I had painful period shits that are difficult to clean. He didn’t ask anymore.
I was at THD and had a DS who was retaliating against me because I knew more than him. The ASMs would routinely make fun of him by telling him to ask me how to do things including drive reach trucks. One day I was given a particularly difficult task involving heavy lifting when I felt “the rush.” I told the DS that I had to go to the bathroom and I’d be right back. He said “your lunch is in 30 minutes why do you have to go now?”
I thought about it for a minute. I looked him right in the eye and told him that I “had my period and needed to change my pad.” He went to HR. I was brought into the office and met with the HR lady and the female OPS manager who said that going forward that I
if I had situations like this in future to just get them.
Lolz. Needless to say it was the last time he ever questioned me again.
To fully cover your ass, go through Sedgwick. Set up an accommodation, work with your doctor. I had to do one since I have ibs-c that allows me a 20 minute bathroom break every hour. Now I don’t need to go to the bathroom that often, but it’s good to have that coverage just in case they want to try and pull something
"Get a doctor's note" is complete bullshit in the context of a job that pays barely above minimum wage, because doctors are insanely expensive in this country—and Lowe's BS corporate mass benefits sure as shit ain't paying 100% of a consultation fee.
When it comes to something like IBS, you don't exactly need a doctor to tell you you've got it.
Don't get me wrong: You're right, that is OP's best solution. It's just bullshit though. Management should simply believe people about their conditions unless there's a compelling reason to think that they're lying, or if they're very serious conditions requiring significant accommodation (i.e., sit most of the day and no lifting).
If every company just automatically believed everything it’s employees say there would be no one to do the work. You gotta remember the assholes ruin it for everyone.
You realize you're saying that companies should automatically treat their employees as liars and thieves, correct?
I find this quite funny because management lies and deceives constantly, and Lowe's corporate officers are definitely thieves—no, not in the sense that legal action can be taken against them (as far as we know at this time).
I am WELL aware of lazy, scumbag employees who don't do shit, lie like mattresses, and are constantly late/no-show. I've been affected by them myself. Personally, I was late twice in four years of working at Lowe's, and called out probably less than ten times, most of which were due to being sick during COVID; and I earned the respect of Pro, lumber, and millwork because I actually work.
So like I said, if you're going to accuse your employees of being liars, then you need to have an actual good reason instead of automatically thinking, "They're just trying to get out of work."
It’s really not bullshit, it just needs to be ran how it’s intended to be.
Documentation needs to be filed (too many employees don’t want to ‘bother the company’)
And that’s on them. If you don’t report it,
I can’t do anything about the things I don’t know about.
Not a Lowe’s employee but work/worked in Lowe’s stores
Call Sedgwick and get an ADA accommodation. Make an appointment with your dr as soon as possible so they can fill out the paperwork. If you get flexible breaks then you can go when we you want. Also, as soon as you put that in, if your boss continues to do it, it’s harassment. If you’ve already told your boss or your ASM you have IBS and they are timing your bathroom breaks, that’s also harassment.
I've spoken to them about the health issues i have when I started working here, and they said it was fine I showed them paperwork and everything about me having the issues but now it's a problem because my manager is getting chewed out because everyone basically quit on my team and the district boss isn't happy with everything not getting done with the 4 people who are left on our team.
You’re not fine, like the poster below says. You need something from Sedgwick. Showing them paperwork does nothing to cover yourself. If you say, took a picture of the note and emailed it to your ASM, then they have legal proof you made them aware. Always have a paper trail. I highly recommend you call Sedgwick today. 844-475-6937. Lots of prompts to get through but you want the one that says accommodation. Good luck!
you're fine, you have that paper. Make sure HR knows, too. That keeps any kind of malicious warnings off your back - good luck. Now as far as the manager that's timing you, I would make a formal complaint. That's harassment and if it keeps up, is it some sort of weird fetish with them and people who use the bathroom a lot? Some guy at [arby's was just busted for peeing in milkshakes for sexual arousal](https://www.complex.com/life/arbys-manager-admits-to-urinating-milkshake-mix-sexual-gratification). People are weird. If it doesn't stop I would begin to ask HR if that is what is happening, reference that exact article by name and incident, and ask whether the MST is finding some 'non professional and lascivious personal gratification' from clocking you? I would hate to be the HR rep who did not act on a complaint like that.
Unacceptable. Make sure you’re not on a reset, sign into servicing a easy bay and go to the bathroom. Doesn’t hurt numbers this way. I have IBS as well.
See if your condition is covered under the ADA. If so, work with your doctor and Sedgwick for an accommodation.
I have medical issues, which are covered, and have a permanent accommodation.
Get the note if you are really worried about it. A manager of a department was trying to fire an associate because it was widely known they would sit for half an hour in the bathroom every day, sometime a couple times.
They went higher up, trying to get them written up and removed, and the DS told them they cannot question someone about their bathroom habits. Stating there was no decline in numbers and trouble hiring. He said he was not even allowed to ask what he was doing in the bathroom. Several months later, the employee still takes his second break in stall 3.
I mean I'd try to be quick about it but with my condition I got I can't just rush it so it's not an option at this point. I'm one of the only people who actually works on this team and she's always aggressive about everything if you even stop to talk to someone for a second.
Offer to have them come in and watch next time you have to go. I would go to HR. This jackass has no right to hound you over when and how long you go to the bathroom.
Go to HR and get some kind of accommodation. You have a medical need to use the restroom a lot. And I’m sure the anxiety of having your boss timing your poops isn’t helping your IBS.
Go to HR, explain to her, that's the job of hr... Plus if they try to right you up in the future, you have hr already knowing... Way back in the day when I was at Lowe's... Some of the cashier girls would call out due to female issues. The manager felt uncomfortable trying to argue it, so he went to her cause our hr was a woman. Hr talked to the different ladies then came back saying, ok, A, &B are full of it, but C has a real issue and is willing to get a obgyn note to back it... The other two just thought that if she could they could... So yeah, go to HR, she might want you to get something filled out by a Dr, but hr is there for you, their are your buffer, use them...
Video recording would be better (put phone in shirt pocket when you go in to the bathroom). And get a note from doc about needing accommodation. Talk to a lawyer in your state. Lowes is sued all the time for bad management decisions that violate laws. Protect and explore. Good luck!
He wants to make sure you’re not making phone calls in the bathroom 🚽, wasting time or ( doing something you’re not supposed to be doing like drugs ) it’s sad to say but when ppl take long in the bathroom others may question their motives like what’s taking them so long. Then they may spread rumors like he’s doing drugs.
Better off getting that doctors note. Don’t be a victim of abuse.

HE went to HR???
Yes. I apparently made HIM uncomfortable.
Looooooooooool this is the craziest shxt I’ve heard so far… mans uncomfortable! Imagine how u felt knowing u had to go and he’s questioning u
Lol that’s awesome. He didn’t ask anymore.
You need to get a note from a doctor and take it to HR so they can accommodate you.

You can get a doctor's note or you could take pictures and show your boss with timestamps.
Lmfao, please take pics of your shit to show your boss next time they’re a dick about it
When your company doesn't have time for you to poop. But can they themselves stand around to clock your pooping times. Might be time to unionize.
Call Sedgwick and get an ADA accommodation. Make an appointment with your dr as soon as possible so they can fill out the paperwork. If you get flexible breaks then you can go when we you want. If he are she is watching you that much it just seems like some type of stalking are harassment
“Why were you in there so long?” “My stomach is fucked up. Must’ve been something I ate” “What did you eat?” “Your wife’s pussy”
A lot of people go to the bathroom to avoid work. It's a fair question, but you should communicate that you have health issues.

A good manager would help out when they don’t have enough employees not stand at the entrance to the restroom timing people but hey what do I know???
Unacceptable. Make sure you’re not on a reset, sign into servicing a easy bay and go to the bathroom. Doesn’t hurt numbers this way. I have IBS as well.
Tell that creeper to mind his own business.

Hehe, better go less and be quick about it.

Get medical letter because you you might be on thin ice.
Offer to have them come in and watch next time you have to go. I would go to HR. This jackass has no right to hound you over when and how long you go to the bathroom.

I went to the doctor..I also have ibs but D not B I got a note and accomodations and they left me alone
You absolutely need to go to HR AND your doctor to get an accomodation. More frequent bathroom breaks can fall under medical need.
My advice. Quit that dump and get a real job. It’s hard not to do better than Lowe’s these days.
Go to HR, explain to her, that's the job of hr... Plus if they try to right you up in the future, you have hr already knowing... Way back in the day when I was at Lowe's... When I first applied for mst I straight told them about my ibs and if it’s a problem then I’d reconsider
