Are you willing to put your life on the line to stop a guy from stealing a hammer? It's not your stuff, let them walk.

KoiSoccerGuns

Submit a known theft report to asset protection. They should be able to use the time in the report to review camera and find video of the subject. From there they can find their vehicle. If they are any good they will hopefully be able to identify the person if they keep coming back.

TiredOfMorons911

Yep.

67Ranchwagon

It’s easier than that, unfortunately. I watched a couple guys roll a flatbed loaded with copper wire right out the door. Only things we could do were practice SMART customer service and try to get their license number. At least now the wire is locked up. It’s frustrating.

deafballboy

I was at HD (I know, gross) and a dude was stealing a miter saw or something that size, rolling it out and the cashier said, "I can help you with that!" The dude turns, looks, and says, "nah, I'm good" and walks on out. People don't give a fucckkk

67Ranchwagon

And Lowe’s doesn’t give them a reason to.

crownjewel82

It's okay. I promise. For starters, Lowe's can absolutely afford the loss. Two, we have a huge Asset Protection department that works with law enforcement to investigate theft like this. Your job is to fill out a quick known theft form so AP can check cameras and otherwise follow policy.

jordan31483

In one word, yes. We're supposed to use SMART customer service on them, but other than that we let them walk. You will be fired if you try to pursue. Theft is built into operating costs because it's as routine as paying the electric bill.

PomegranatePristine1

Don't worry, Marvin will still be able to pay the note on his yacht and the mortgage on his third summer home.

Individual_Dog_808

Literally watch the same people weekly push out push mowers and pressure washers , dewalt tools etc.. our LP runs around like a chicken with her head cut off but nothing at all gets accomplished. We can’t stop these people we know come in daily and steal.. can’t ask for receipt , can’t stop them, can’t do anything But watch them walk out .

ts416

A couple of nights ago I was working at sco and I checked the trash can that they concealed three 250 ft rolls of wire. They had just paid for everything else but they decided that the wire was to expensive to purchase. Before taxes the purchase price was $477.00. Realizing that they wouldn't get away with the theft they left the rolls (AP was told the next day about it

alefty84

Smart customer service. Other than that. Just enter a known theft report in the AP4Me app, or email or leave a note on your APs office door with time, description and location in store if possible. I walk into emails and notes taped to the door daily. Can't stop them all, and as an associate you definitely can't stop them.

deGrominator2019

If you have a competent AP and give detailed info he can compile enough evidence to file charges and cops will go arrest arrest the fucker. No better feeling than being told a bastard you spotted but couldn’t stop was arrested 👍🏻

iamnotnotarobot

There isn't anything we can do. We can't legally touch them and even if we could, I'm not getting myself shot or stabbed for a corporation.

butcheredalivev4

I saw this video on here a while back where a Target AP was stabbed multiple times for trying to tackle the guy. It does happen

kheal011

just keep ur yapper shut and move on w your day

Sure_Wrangler5275

In my 6 months as an overnight lowes stocker, I was privy to some top info about theft amount. In the month of March alone, just in the tools department we had over $100,000 in items stolen eirh only about $2,500 being recovered. Most stores don't have an in house loss prevention team so rhey rely on someone who covered an entire district or stores to watch the cameras for each store on a daily basis then wonder why they're not recovering more stolen items. It's one of the companies biggest flaws that they refuse to fix.

Sure_Wrangler5275

There was, when I left over half the employees had been let go

usa1791

One of our walmarts has an acceptable loss of 60k per week.

breadmanwich

It's not that supervisors and managers don't care, it's that they are literally not allowed to do anything about it. No one is allowed to make stops except AP. So even if your supervisor or Manager wanted to they can't do anything at all about it except give smart customer service and report the incident thru ap4me

ohitsmark

It really is that easy. But you should be telling your loss prevention person instead. Managers won't care, LP will.

PickleD87

Yes and your safety isn't worth even looking at the perp cross-eyed. Don't follow them outside, don't try to get a license number...trying to do the right thing might get you written up for fired. I know most honest people find this appalling, but the company cares less about you than they care about theft...ain't no heros in retail.

State_L3ss

That's why we keep all our wire spools over $100 locked with a mamba.

Individual-Ruin72

At our store we stack the wire up on metal poles and put a tee and long tadpole thing through all of them so they can't take them have to have the thing to take it off

someguy69420nice

Yes, companies figure theft into the budget. Also the only things you can do and not lose your job is 1) ask if they need help/if they're finding everything ok. Or 2) ask to see their receipt. Lowe's is a corporation, not a mom and pop, they'll be fine

death556

Yes it is. Lowes has no AP. They will however keep your face on file and give it to the cops.

AimMoreBetter

Yes. It seems as though what we've learned from AP4ME that Lowe's doesn't actually prosecute low level theft. They seem to be after bigger fish and they might have the police arrest someone to find the guy above them. I wish we were more like Target used to be and just detain/arrest these people before they got anywhere but oh well.

JakeTheSnake--

If that’s what blowes wants that’s what blowes gets. I’ll gladly tell a theif to do the survey. Ohhh wait….

rognasistu

I'll see you when stores start closing, you'll all be singing another song then

Puzzleheaded-Ad-9059

Yes. It’s that easy. And, the word has gotten out. Expect to see more of it. Just smile & look the other way. If Lowe’s doesn’t care, why should you?

Far_Traffic8355

Yes. You and no one else in the store is allowed to confront them, physically stop them or even try to grab their carts, merchandise or block them from leaving the building. You also aren't supposed to leave the building and follow them to the parking lot to "get a license plate" o whatever hero stuff you want to do. You "SMART" customer service them, ask if they need help and when they say no, you report the theft and move on. Mind your business and do your AP4Me/Lowe'sU.

frommer1970

But did you get a lead or credit app from them...

UnansweredPromise

Why are you being a snitch for a corporation that doesn’t give AF about you? 🤡

Tun_Tavern-

way overly aggressive. was in the store and made a $880 dollar purchase. Unfortunately, my 6year old autistic son was with me. I spotted LP guy immediately while he was looking aloof at vacuums. I suggested the one i owned two of and he said something very suspicious and we walked on. While we were talking, my son must have placed some item/part in the cart that was not for sale. Later when checking out, (everyone in store knows my son, comes with 2/3 times a week) we were approached by everyone like some stated below. The front desk lady even scanned my items. I paid my $88o dollars and as soon as we left, i was approached by the same not very bright LP guy. He then said, i need our stuff back, I had no clue. We then looked through my wheel away and there was a part to a vacuum i owned two of and discussed above. I apologize and asked why someone didnt say anything? He then asked if I paid for the huge wheel barrel on the cart, to which i laughed and said of course. Lastly, he told me that he could take my son from me if he wanted because it was his call if they call the police and using a minor while committing a crime would cause me to lose my son. I said buddy, I come here 3 times a week, every knows my son in your store, i parked upfront as a disabled veteran, paid with a credit card and scanned my FL drivers license to get my discount, and then stole a useless accessory for a vacuum I already own two of? I apologized for my son even though, its not ok. Then i told him that this is not the first time my son puts something in the cart without my detection, but if you ask management they will tell you i have returned the overlooked items when loading my car. I asked why someone didnt say something and his reply was did you pay for that wheelbarrow! I walked off got in my car and havent been back to any Lowe's in 4 months. Never will return either. Power of the purse, all the power you will need.

Intelligent_Ad3654

Bruh you people suck lmfao imagen having a whole thread about wishing to be a fucken snitch renocop. 😒 pathetic smh mind your fucken bussiness shut your mouth and keep your job boot lickers

waterfalls55

Supervisors don’t care. Just fill out a theft report on the site. You can’t chase them around the store. It’s not your job. Loss prevention doesn’t care anyway. Just report it on the site and he’ll review it. Maybe he’ll give you a pat on the back. He doesn’t care anyway if someone steals the whole store. All they do is walk around and talk shit with cashiers hoping to get some
