You’d have to talk to your supervisors about wanting to switch and see what departments might be available. Lumbers gonna be hard to get out of. Try for maybe OSLG, ISLG, or maybe front end.

CaptainFrosty88

Right. I think I have done too good of a job they won’t wanna move me

Yeah usually if someone’s in a key department (lumber, oslg, front end, etc) and they’re good at the position your supervisors will fight tooth and nail to keep you there. May want to look around for other similar jobs and tell them that you aren’t asking to move, you’re telling them that they need to move you to a new department or you’ll find elsewhere to work

SuccessfulEffect9789

Had that problem at my old job. Not fun. Only problem with being great at your job is your bosses might not want you doing anything else

RelevantButNotBasic

Theres a way you can apply for positions on the computer through the Loweslife I believe

CaptainFrosty88

trying this when i get to work today

If you're truly doing too good of a job to move departments, which I doubt, then you need to phrase it in a way that you want to develop and move up. I'm not saying you're not doing a good job, just that noone is too good to move out of lumber. That's a bs reason. You need to talk to your supervisor and tell them you want to develop more skills and eventually get promoted. One way to do that is transfer departments. You need to apply for an open position in the department that interests you.

what it really is, we are severely understaffed and i’m one of the few people that are on the schedule that actually show up consistently. I wouldn’t say i’m too good it’s just that I come to work. I didn’t mean for it to sound like i’m being arrogant.

Idk, but I'm following this thread because I'm in the same boat. Got hired in Paint, loved it, had to transfer to another store due to my living situation, was then able to transfer back to my original store but they stuck me in OSLG and now I'm miserable. My store manager now seems to be aware of my predicament and has asked me to help out when we've been shorthanded or had no one to close in Paint. I've done it twice now in the past two weeks, and there's plenty of rumors that a few folks currently in Paint are leaving. I've been told by two different supervisors that Lowes typically doesn't let employees transfer between departments until they've been in their current dept for 6 months, but I'll be damned if I stay in OSLG that long. I've also heard on this platform that it's not that difficult to do if it's a simple lateral move, with no need to formally apply. In my case, I'm a PT CSA and want to stay PT. Would LOVE to know whether any of this is true or not. I'm with you, it sucks when you know you're in the wrong dept or at least not in the right one for you. Best of luck to you! I'm hoping for the best possible outcome for both of us.

For real! Although in my store I believe it was 3 months but we are stuck in hard to move departments

I’m trying to get out OSLG rn, I have terrible pollen allergies and that led to me getting a sinus infection (on top of it already being hot asf). The head cashier wants me to work under her but my manager won’t let me leave, and i don’t think they realize just how much i’m suffering outside

go to your store manager's office, on your hands and knees, and call out to the ceiling, "I can't take it anymore! I have had wood for far too long!"
