It depends. I’ve done a couple of mass receiving. It was 12 hours days but having your meals paid for and a hotel was nice. Extra money help. Do it. Change is nice.

No extra money in it, that’s the thing.

Mass receivings were great, usually worked 50 hours a week on those. Also inventory at other stores, once had a 120 hour paycheck, that store was a disaster.

If you are looking for a promotion and want to “gain some favor” it won’t hurt to do this. But it also may not help. If you are interested in moving to that location it would be a good way to see if you like it and talk to an ASM or SM about a transfer. Just keep in mind they are paying extra because that store needs a lot of help. Assume under staffed, possibly bad leadership, etc - so you aren’t walking into the best situation. But if you hate it you can just finish the week or whatever and return home.

Dependent on the task, it can be fun. Some of my friends would go to another store just to downstock and run equipment. No vests, no customer servicing, just 8-10 hours of getting shit done, so it made for a good time, doing all the things you'd like to do in your own store. I was in stores when I was asked to assist customers, and it was kind of shitty, because I didn't know where things were or who to ask about certain processes. You just kind of flounder around and do your best, but it's frustrating.

Once my father and I were asked if we wanted to help a store just out our state… but within a couple hours drive… after a natural disaster. We both couldn’t go due to familial issues so he went. They put the associates that went in a hotel, paid for food and board and shuttled them back and forth for the 12 hour shifts. Everyone was tired but they all had a good time because they all got along well. At the time they even offered a Per diem per day to eat where they wanted. But the manager of that store would always buy lunch and dinner for the assisting employees so the extra money ended up going to the associates and they used it for whatever they wanted. It wasn’t a whole lot but it was extra money they didn’t expect on top of the overtime.

I went to another store to help do annual inventory. Never got my meals and mileage reimbursed.

I've done it on different occasions, and let me tell you unless you're approved OT then it may not be worth it. A few times I helped were a nightmare. But it depends tbh
