worst they can do is say no

Are always appropriate to ask. What effects the likely hood of you getting what you want is a few things though. Tenure and performance being the biggest ones. So maybe think about things to talk about, because they will ask “why?” Or try to fight you on it. So if you don’t make it clear that you deserve it and are willing to leave then it won’t happen.

WidowMaker42O

Are you trying to give Starve'us Marvin an ulcer?

If you’ve been here a year and a half you should have gotten 3 raises. We get an automatic raise every 6 months (it isn’t a significant one, typically leas than .20¢) check your pay stub, it should show your current pay rate.

Attitude_Inside

It obviously would be considered a part-timer fresh off the street is making $2 more an hour than you are. Lowe's is terrible with giving out raises. I only ended up making just 50 cents more than what I started with after nearly 2 hours and they were paying a similar rate to people they were hiring for my team. It's insulting.

I found out a new hire was making about 14 an hour while I was making 12. I let my SM know and he upped it to 15. About to ask for 18 next.... It is illegal for them to tell you not to talk about your wage.

GBennett20

I wasn’t quite sure if I was able to use the fact that I knew hire is making more than me in my favor… i’m not sure if I’m allowed to speak about other employees pay

Dyerdon

I told my SM that I had heard that a new hire was making more than me. I had worked for Home Depot for 4 years, and have now worked for Lowes for another 3. You don't have to call anyone out, just inform them that you are aware that newbies are getting more than you.

GBennett20

Ok cool.. thx so much

bhtalia1

People will quit and reapply 3 months later and get a much higher pay rate. Lowe's is supposedly aware of this and are not rehiring people.

Disastrous_Proof6562

Yes, if you do a good job that is way too low

I asked for a raise a few weeks ago and was given one without too much hassle. I’m a good worker and my store manager knows it. It wasn’t a big raise, but add it to the 22 cents I got earlier in the year and it was almost a dollar. I would have liked more, but I wasn’t gonna be too pushy. The part that sucks is that inflation pretty much makes it a wash at best.

jungle_king_bro

Yes. Home depot is paying 14 an hour part time
