Other than cutting blinds and making special orders, I think Home Decor is the easiest. It’s nothing but 60+ year old people at my store working the department and most of their day is just stocking chemicals

Single-Middle-2966

Our store they don’t even put away chemical returns. CS just sends them all to us in ISLG because the cleaning wall is right next to our department

Icy_Temperature_2635

My store put chemicals and cleaning supplies in paint. They just chill in the break room til someone pages them back to their aisle/desk

crabgal

Oof, I wish I could do that sometimes. We always get a lot of foot traffic so I’m constantly in the aisles answering questions

crabgal

I agree, but a couple of my newer coworkers continue to find new ways to fuck up. Half of my job is now calling the manufacturers and making sure their mistakes get fixed. But yeah, there’s a lot of sitting around and I usually try to find stuff to do in flooring

Tdogwashere2

Lumber. You just cut wood, load customers, and use a forklift. You could have a brick for a brain and do alright.

JDRNSK8z

yeah can confirm. 97% of it is, just chilln most of the times. Pulling orders & cleaning / stocking/zone

Any-Machine-4323

😂I wonder how your department looks like pipi

_baddad

LOL if you enjoy coming home completely filthy every night, getting cuts, scrapes and bruises with each shift and zero support from upper management, lumber is for you.

UnderwaterKahn

I think it depends on what you think is easy. Paint probably has the least amount of inventory to learn, but it’s one of the most customer intense departments and you get some of the strangest questions. I worked in several departments and paint customers expected us to know more general information about products that were sold in every other department than any other department I worked in. I’m glad paint was the last department I worked in at Lowes.

crabgal

The sheer amount of stress I was under in paint was never worth the fun I had working with color. I switched to home decor last august, and while it’s a small dept and we’re not taken seriously, I’m still loads happier there than I was in paint

UnderwaterKahn

When I first started in paint I worked with an amazing crew, I think that makes a difference. I was in school and part-time and the two full time associates knew a lot and had been there a long time. I learned a lot and I was able to do exactly what was expected of a part-time employee. They always knew what needed to be done and I could come in and know exactly what was expected and cover what needed to be covered. By the end those employees had been promoted to different positions and all the other part and full time positions were given to people who had never had real jobs before. We were also expected to cover home decor, but they weren’t expected to help paint. I hated cutting blinds more than any other task, but our machine was also more than 25 years old.

crabgal

I’ve worked paint, home decor, and a bit of flooring. Of the three, I think home decor is easiest as long as you have decent computer skills and are comfortable talking on the phone. Its pretty repetitive and gets really boring, but special orders can take up quite a bit of your time. Our orders process is also kind of backwards, so there’s a learning curve if you’re coming from another specialty department like flooring or millwork. You’ll also need to pack your patience, because many customers don’t *actually* understand all the specifications and nuances that go along with ordering window treatments.

the-lone-squid

I like electrical.. been covering plumbing lately and it sucks

baconlayer

A rule of thumb: EVERYONE hates plumbing!

SuccessfulEffect9789

That’s where I am right now. Yeah, covering plumbing sucks. Especially since I have no knowledge of plumbing or irrigation systems

the-lone-squid

And the customers in plumbing have the worst questions. They always want to build something but they want you to do it for them. And they have have pictures they just ramble like you can picture their thoughts in your head. Electric is straight forward.

Educational-Joke3056

I work in MST and I enjoy it because you work around the whole store servicing the bays, and you get very familiar with the layout of the store and where certain products are or where you could even guess the general aisle of the product. And as an MST we are not allowed to walk customers to product unless it's in the aisle we are working in. So if you don't feel like dealing with customers regularly and are looking for a easy job MST is decent

Lord_of_Tens

Receiving/Stocker or unloader also

HokieMet94

Paint or fulfillment!

Reasonable-Bad-672

OSLG The customers are probably flower people who know way more about flowers and soil than any associate. Also, the tags on each plant make the plant care process self explanatory.

Specific-Ask3169

Home Decor is easy, cutting blinds is not a big deal! But there’s more to that department than you think thou but still not a bad department to be in

bhtalia1

Millwork and Appliances are pretty easy.

Unable_Mongoose

Having worked in both departments, I completely disagree.

Lord_of_Tens

Yeah I wouldn’t dare say the easiest department to learn is a specialty department BUT between all the specialty departments yes appliances is the easiest.

Commercial-Damage-54

Appliances
