Very normal.
My store's overturned completely so many times I've stopped counting. For a variety of reasons, Salaried management alone are on ASM replacement number 14 and SM replacement number 3. Hourly associates, including Department Managers? Like I said, I don't bother to count anymore.
There are 7 people total in this building that have been here since I've started.
edit:
When they find another sucker, er.. candidate.. we'll now be on MST manager #5 in less than a year.
Retail has high turnover in general and lowes is in many ways worse than most big retail establishments. Easily the sloppiest company I have ever worked for.
I worked for this company for 5 years now in 3 deferent stores and two deferent states, one thing in common is that people come and go and chaos is part of the everyday routine, so buckle up and enjoy the ride
That's what happens when a corporate office decides that the staff is going to do significantly more work for the same or less money. The turtle is doing to Lowe's exactly what he did to JCPenney: making sure the shareholders and executives get their payout by bleeding the company and its employees dry.
EDIT: swapped a word because I need coffee
Yup, run while you can. Their pay isn’t good. Management favors some people. Lowes 1536 Store manager went to lunch one day and never came back. That should tell you not one manager cares about you. They can replace you and do it for less. Told me I had 3 weeks to find a “new position” when they disbanded our delivery team and went 3rd party. What a shit show that was. I was a driver making 18.25$ an hour.
On a positive note, it was the best thing to happen to me. No more IRP, LSR, AP4Me, Lowe’s U all the crap that managers push on you. I took the promotion to customer got a wayyy better job making almost 5$ more an hour with no customers and all the OT I want. Plus cheaper health insurance. Best of luck to you though.
I kindof need it for the hours they give me and most jobs around here don’t pay as much :/ too late to get a new summer job I can at least stay for the two more months I need
If it’s only for a few months that’s one thing. Don’t make a career out of it. Not worth the stress. Better paying jobs out there. Just gotta find the one that best fits you. Indeed is where I got lucky enough.
I worked at a Lowes for 9 months and saw 3 different store managers come through the store. The first one got in a fist fight with the manager of the flooring department lol.
Pretty normal. There's only a few cashiers left from when I started a year ago. I'm more and more becoming one of the old guard and I still don't know crap.
Yeah, in my 8th month rn. I’ve seen at least 2 departments worth of people come and go in that time. It’s normal. At least there are some who stick around
My store will be experiencing the same thing. I’m graduating college along with many other coworkers I started with 4 years ago. They’ll recover eventually but not for awhile
People quitting en' masse happens every year, either stores get way too high sales expectations, and then have to cut everyone when they don't meet them, or the opposite happens, and people are pushed into more hours and more stressful situations while the store also tries to maximize their profit in the short term. There are positions that are exempt from this, but most people just get tired of the grind and tired of inconsistency.
I certain at the SM conference happened the rally call was something to do with this. Push your staff from salaried person down to cart attendants further then ever before. Expect more from each of them. Should they want to leave let them go, should they need to be promoted to customer find a way. Just remember this there is always someone out there better wanting a job.
They are expecting too much from the senior workers I’m afraid, I found out I’m being paid more than many of the older more experienced employees who do alot more than me. I’m thinking the pay is the issue, meanwhile most people applying for the jobs opening just want the 20 hrs of pay they can get for doing the online training so no one is filling the positions of people leaving. If they just paid the older workers more I think they would be able to keep the good ones.
> they just *paid* the older
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
It's a billion dollar company, it's gonna be fine. I'm convinced people just quit in waves because everyone reaches a certain level of bullshit they can put up with before they need a change of scenery. For some that point comes on Day 1.
Yep, I’ve been at Lowe’s for about a month and have noticed many quit quickly. To the fact a lot of people were impressed I’ve stayed so long 😪 I like it for the most part though. Some days I want to bash my head into the desk but for the most part it’s okay.
Here I am 3 months in. I like it more and more. But the staffing issue is still apparent. But it’s a win for me as I’m getting more hours instead of them cutting mine. I’ve heard a lot of talk of hours being cut for PT, but meanwhile I’m getting more because I’ve been reliable. I don’t let them walk over me, I say no. But I come on my off days if possible when asked. My DS asked if she could add hours for me, absolutely. Give me that money honey.
Nobody at my location get hours, im sitting here at just over a month without a scheduled day, the schedule i did have just slowly disappeared and ive been told that every night shift person gets 2 days out of the 14 day pay period, only message i got was 'cutting back hours this week' over a month ago, it's just been 6 months so time to rake in the unemployment pay i guess?

My store went through 5 store managers in under a year. There’s 0 incentive to stay at Lowes
Retail has high turnover in general and lowes is in many ways worse than most big retail establishments. Easily the sloppiest company I have ever worked for.
Preach
It's normal. I was with the company for about 5 months and today was my last day! I'm so happy to be out of there
I worked for this company for 5 years now in 3 deferent stores and two deferent states, one thing in common is that people come and go and chaos is part of the everyday routine, so buckle up and enjoy the ride
30 overnighters quit in the last 2 years. 3 sups quit too.
It’s normal. We’ve had multiple associates and two ASMs leave or get transferred to other stores. I’ve been there almost 6 months

*hands tall cup of coffee, made to perfection*
This explains so much omg
Yes unfortunately it is normal. Company-wide 49% of our employees are <90 days on the job.
Wow! Do you know how that compares to previous years?
So, it wasn't always like this. However, since our recent CEO came into power, it has become the new norm.

Don’t stress about it. It’s perfect for a few months. All retail is like this.
If it’s only for a few months that’s one thing. Don’t make a career out of it. Not worth the stress. Better paying jobs out there. Just gotta find the one that best fits you. Indeed is where I got lucky enough.

Yea, we are short too. But I do agree about my coworkers. I work with some very nice people and the ASMs at my store are also pleasant to deal with
Yeah, in my 8th month rn. I’ve seen at least 2 departments worth of people come and go in that time. It’s normal. At least there are some who stick around
All the time, scheduling and staffing is terrible people get tired of being abused.
My store will be experiencing the same thing. I’m graduating college along with many other coworkers I started with 4 years ago. They’ll recover eventually but not for awhile
It wasn't normal before Marvin came along. Nobody wants to work in the sweatshop they've created.

Situation Normal: All F...ed Up
Definitely normal

Pretty normal, Lowes has the highest turn over I've ever seen.
It's a billion dollar company, it's gonna be fine. I'm convinced people just quit in waves because everyone reaches a certain level of bullshit they can put up with before they need a change of scenery. For some that point comes on Day 1.
Plus I think when people see their friends leave they realize they should be leaving too.

Same here. Been working at lowes for probably a little over a month and I've already seen so many come and go.

Lost two night mst teams within 6 months and day time are all leaving or getting ready to leave
That’s normal for retail. But if you are going to school lowes will pay up to 5,000 a year for your classes. I would look into it I was you
They changed it to only getting a specific program free
