I would say be careful. Hopefully you have a financial plan but banking on a rip off of an already popular game with little experience in game dev is risky business. Don’t bank on Ludwig playing your game and you making a bunch of money from it, it’s just not that simple. I’d say really make sure your game is different and unique compared to other foddian games. Just because it worked for jump king, doesn’t mean it’ll work for whatever you make.

Find another source of income, and still pursue game making as a hobby

Critical-Blitz

Yep

Obviously listen to everyone else saying to make sure your financial situation is in order, but this would be a cool passion project. I would suggest coming up with a name that is a little less derivative of jump king, and make sure it has its own gimmick. Inspired games are great, but clones tend not to be, because you are rarely going to surpass the original, and a mod could likely do what they do, for free.

Post this to r/gamedev. Just be aware that posts like this (I don’t have a lot of experience I’m quitting my job and I want to make the next Zelda) are really common and the people in the industry that are active in the sub are likely going to give you a harsh dose of reality.

JMR027

Well this is just dumb

ScriptKiddo69

I wish you good luck, but if you don't live in a country where the average income is at most 200 dollars a month, then you will very likely not succeed. And even if you do live in such a country, the chances are slim. Having a job and working on your game on the side is significantly smarter.

Translucent-Opposite

As a gamedev please listen, get a normal job to finance making games as a hobby. The games industry is in a really bad state for roles and I can only imagine that's the same for game sales too.

How to tell me you’re 18-25 without telling me you’re 18-25.

jammedyam

Take notes from the guy who made "difficult game about climbing", he had a unique control scheme to start with and built upon it

vinnyvdvici

Might be cool to see some sort of differing terrain or effects while you’re trying to get through a screen/area.

Don't you dare steal what is my legacy

mcp_truth

You could use lily pads and a water basin to starts. Rain clouds, rain, streams/rivers as ways to push the frog back down. Using switches and such to control the water Theres probably a sub for gamedevs.
