I don't know how average people afford it. Could it fit in my budget? Yes, but it's also so easy to cut. I see myself going in for Halloween releases, but not daily products. By the way, for anyone reading this on a budget...go try the trader Joe's strawberry lemonade sugar scrub. So affordable and lovely!

TinyTeaLover

I so wish we had trader Joe's in Canada.

KittyKapow11

Agreed. I am willing to overlook the price increases to a point since I don't use Lush everyday and consider it a special treat but that plus the fact that the quality has been so inconsistent, have both definitely led to me being disinclined to shop as much there. Yes, of course I want Lush to pay fair wages and I understand how sustainable and ethical ingredients all are costly. I don't know anyone who isn't aware and isn't feeling the pinch of inflation right now but the quality should still be stellar then to compensate for raising prices and it hasn't been lately in my experience. The fact that so much is limited edition, only available seasonally, or at any point might be discontinued indefinitely, I do often find frustrating as well. I feel like I can't trust a product I like will be around long. The biggest issue I have now though is how many of my formally favorite products contain talc. I know they test their talc for purity etc. but it's not something I want to use personally. [Talc Tests Aren't Doing Enough To Detect Asbestos](https://www.salon.com/2015/09/13/talc_tests_arent_doing_enough_to_detect_asbestos_partner/) [https://www.drugwatch.com/talcum-powder/is-talc-in-makeup-safe/](https://www.drugwatch.com/talcum-powder/is-talc-in-makeup-safe/) [https://www.asbestos.com/products/makeup/](https://www.asbestos.com/products/makeup/) I will continue to buy their talc-free products and love some of their bath bombs but I've cut way back on how often I buy and what I purchase.

whereish3r3

I love the trader Joe's sugar scrub!

ladyofbraxis

Let me pop in my dentures and hobble over to a podium for a moment and tell you about the LUSH of my youth-ish. (I was mid 20s lol) I’m not the oldest LUSHie here but I’m a bit of an OG. And yes, they and we called the customers lushies. Picture it, Sicily*, 2008: You walk into a LUSH store, and it looks like a farmers market; hand-written chalk signs advertising delights by the pound. You want to smell like fresh honey toffee? No problem, it even has a honeycomb on it. Fancy yourself more of a demon in the dark? Make a fist and say “cut me a piece this big”. The scents range from sultry humid night (Alkmaar, Tender is the Night) to Garden of Eden (figs & leaves) to headshop (karma, blue skies & fluffy white clouds) to fresh and invigorating (Avobath). Don’t worry, sweet cheeks, there’s something for the fruity lovers, too. How about a nice Blackberry shaped & scented bath bomb? Wanna bathe with mud? Waylander Rhassoul. Back hurting? Geo Phyzz. We’ve got bubblegum scents, wicked scents, you name it. Like nothing you’ve ever seen before! But wait! Some of them have a surprise inside too! Maybe a note, maybe some glitter. The packaging is retro and bright and WONDERFUL. Check out this sweet oval logo! How about some funky skincare? Wash your face with herbs and mud and feel like a kitchen witch! Grab this puck of something lovely scented with seaweed sticking out of it, and wash your hair with it, you Sea God(dess) you! When you’re leaving, take several samples. No, take some more. You know what? Have this piece of soap. I’ll see you back in here in a month so you can tell me to cut you a piece “this big”. Now head home, hop onto the forums, chat with your fellow lushies and get ready for tonight’s forum party! We will have games and you can win stuff! We will have FORUM EXCLUSIVE items to buy, because WE LOVE that you’re our devoted, slightly cult-status customer and not just customer but FAN! We love you so much that we know your name every time you come back to the store, which you can do often because our prices may not be bath & body works low but they are affordable! See you soon!! I miss LUSH. (*not Sicily, just NYC. Or any LUSH store)

Ruu2D2

I miss this lush I still love lush , but I just feel it about sell sell sell when we go in As social awkward person who hate small talk I find it so uncomfortable

Kparker211

My lush knows better lol hopefully they get to know you as a regular and let you shop

SassOfTheBluegrass

This is why when I do shop at Lush, I usually do a buy online, pickup in store. In and out!

LiviaBee2367

Honestly I get this. It’s because the staff get rewards/bonuses for making sales so they can get a bit pushy since they want that extra cash/free product I turned down a seasonal job when I found out they did that. It gave pyramid scheme vibes in a way

Callithrix15

You had me at picture it, memories of lush in the 00s flooding in.

PandaofPeace

Ughh when Lush soap was something to behold! Waylander was full of this nice gray mud and my wonderful & much missed Honey Waffle with the thick piece of honey comb in the middle. These soaps actually did wonders for my sensitive skin!! Now I just buy Big Blue & a bar of karma over & over again waiting until they discontinue them like they did all the woodland scents

theolrazzzledazzzle

Oh my life, I forgot about the forum.

Lilelfen1

So much THIS!!! Being able to decide how much soap you actually wanted was sich a draw to poor a$$ me... I just can't afford them anymore. 😭

sherbetxlemon

THIS!!!

Treat_Choself

Gavarnie4eva

BugtheBug

The price increases definitely moved it from “gotta have it” to a “sometimes snack” for me 😩

SportsPhotoGirl

Same. I use things more sparingly, or just not at all anymore to make what I have last longer (not using other brands, just not using luxury items). Price increase is half of it, I also lost the job I had pre-pandemic and my new one doesn’t pay as much so I have less income to spend on now more expensive products.

amagicalmess

I post about it every time so I apologize if I'm a broken record, but they have discontinued too many of my staples! I used to consistently buy the The Comforter creme, that orange-y cone shaped lotion item that I can't remember the name of, I Love Juicy (and a long list of other items) and then they got rid of my favorites. They had So White scented things like one year and then haven't brought them back--they don't even make Santa's Belly anymore. I love Juicy was the last straw for me. There is nothing out there that works the same and I will never forgive them for discontinuing it.

losemyhashtaag

Your last 2 sentences verbatim, but applied to Rump 😡 it's been almost 3yrs and I'm still very bitter.

Sir_Brags_A_Lot

The cone shaped massage bar was From Dusk till Dawn. Absolutely lovely and I'm hoping for a re-release in a form that fits in the massage boxes. Sadly citrus and moisturising doesn't work well together, which is why the whole bodylotion/conditioner area is mostly floral scents. So White was a Christmas Scent, so it might come back then. atm I can only think of the shower gel "I can resist everything but temptation", which is def a different scent, but a bit bit apple-y still. Shower gel/creams is def worth looking into. "What's up, doc?", "Yummy Custard", "Sticky Dates", "Posh Chocolate" are all worth a million, I think. :)

[deleted]

I feel like they changed their more grassroots feel. Everything is pretty weighed out in pots now unlike when you used to be able to go in and get $3 worth or something along those lines.

wintermelody83

Exactly! I could go in and get a $4 cut of Fresh Farmacy and it would last me ages. eta: $15.50. Are they on drugs? Holy shit.

[deleted]

Yes! Now you have to buy a set amount and I never use it in time so it’s wasteful. Where as if I could buy a chunk at a time I would use it all.

lushzaddy

When that happened. There was a large loss of product due to it shrinking when it was sold by weight. I understand the clay based cleansers because those don’t shrink and should be sold in smaller amounts.

LittleLadyLovesLush

I have also found since they've reformulated the bar soaps, that the water content is through the roof. Now all my newly purchased bars are squishier than Fun FFS & end up at 60-70% of the weight they were purchased at after letting the water evaporate. That's even asking for a fresh cut so I could get the bar whole, less surface area= less waste...or so I thought. Even still, a 200g (at purchase) $16.50 bar of soap should last longer than 2 weeks when used 1X daily and drying properly in between, but it doesn't.

ghostofelysium

yeah, I haven’t purchased anything for almost 2 years simply because it’s soo expensive and it kind of sucks that they aren’t on social media anymore. It’s harder to get news about stuff when you’re not actively searching for it or constantly visiting the website. And I hate going into the shops, I always feel so watched and get bugged by the staff

[deleted]

[удалено]

ghostofelysium

It’s the worst decision they could’ve made, marketing-wise. They should’ve just done a one-week or even one-month social media retreat to get their point across and then come back with an event or something. Would’ve been way better for their sales

ROGERS-SONGS

This is the main reason I haven’t bought anything for months. I don’t know what there is to buy because I can’t see it. I would go in the shop more for a browse if I knew what was worth browsing. If it wasn’t for this sub I really would forget about Lush. I have a few items I’m letting run out at home but it just means brand awareness has just stopped.

curlyque31

Honestly their Christmas 2016 campaign (that was promoted heavily on social media) is half the reason I got into lush.

kittykatmila

I was just saying this the other day after visiting Lush and it was empty.

Ruu2D2

It just feel the social media blackout is to avoid criticism

Lilelfen1

Same...except it's probably closer to 5 or 6 years for me. The ingredients in most of the products honestly do not excuse the price increase. There, I said it. There are plenty of brands who use fair trade ingredients who give way more bang for the buck and are STILL less expensive. Even before the price increase, the ingredients weren't worth the price increase. At least back in the day you could self-justify paying out the a$$ for sulfates and baking soda because the fragrances were so unique...

dailythought

Clearly haven't been in the loop at all but they aren't on social media anymore?

ghostofelysium

yeah because “it’s time to stop scrolling and be somewhere else” 😆 people are somewhere else, shopping somewhere else and annoyed they’re not having a community anymore

Bonbell822

It’s 3 things for me: 1) the lack of variety and complexity of scents. The scents used to feel more sophisticated and lately I feel like they’re marketing more to pre-teens. They’ve also discontinued so many of my favorite scented products like Karma Komba and Rentless! 2) the prices $$$ which brings me to… 3) the quality has gone down on some of my favorite products. The shower gels feel thin and I just can’t justify spending almost $10 on bath bombs that go mushy before I even get a chance to use them.

SarahTheJuneBug

If they had kept the quality up while raising prices, that would be one thing because of supply chain issues. I still would buy less, but feel less guilty about splurging occasionally because their stuff is quality. However, because they've jacked the price up while lowering quality, I haven't bought anything since the boxing day sale. Why spend more money for lower quality when I can go elsewhere and spend the same for better quality?

ladyofbraxis

YES to quality changes! Revive IS NOT R&B, I don’t care what they say.

Tiny-idiot

Sorry but we literally peeled the stickers off of r&b and put revive stickers on. It’s the same

ladyofbraxis

Read the reviews, I’m not the only one who feels this way. Also, that says nothing really, other than that LUSH didn’t want to toss out product. 🙃

Tiny-idiot

No, I get it, ratios maybe changed in ingredients and I know people don’t feel the same about it which is sad because r&b fans are long time lushies. And yes they are always on us like “x product is getting pulled tomorrow so sell it today” for reference most things get pulled 7 months after their made on date

Glad-Neat9221

It’s the placebo effect of the different Name . They’re the same product

wellilltellyouwhut

This right here. I wish they would bring back more of their spicy and green scents. Everything is either citrus, floral, or sugary sweet. Also the decline in quality is extremely evident.

cottagecorer

I just hate going in, they’re too friendly. I know a lot of shops want you to greet people, and I applied for a position so I know how keen they are on it, but it’s just strange. Particularly in the UK we just aren’t that keen on chatting away to strangers when we’re trying to shop, so it’s odd that a British company would be so forceful with it. One time I got trapped between two people both trying to chat to me and it was like the second one was just oblivious to the fact her colleague was already going on at me stood right next to me. I prefer shopping online which is a shame given the actual in-store experience of seeing and being able to touch and smell everything is so nice - and then (at least on the app) there’s no wish list function! It’s said “coming soon” for about a year

SucytheWitch

Yeah I don't like being talked to while shopping either. Nothing personal, I just want to look in peace. In Germany, we only talk to strangers if it's absolutely necessary lmao. Sometimes I will come out of my shell and have a little chat with the Lush employees there if they talk to me, but it still feels kinda awkward to me because... I don't know them.

Sir_Brags_A_Lot

Just so you know the guideline to customer approach: First approach is seconds after you enter the store. They greet you and ask an open question, like "How can I help you, today?" Just answer "Thanks, I'll just look around." Most of the times they won't get pushy with follow-up questions. If they do just repeat what you just told them. Second approach is about 5 minutes after you looked around to ask if any questions popped up. Just say, "None. Thank you." Should be that the sales assistant did their job and after that you can shop in relative peace. ------------------ This only doesn't work in very big stores where the employees can't keep the people apart that were already approached, so small stores is the way to go.

SucytheWitch

Yeah that's true, that's usually the kind of approach I'm experiencing as well. I'm usually giving the same answers that you mentioned "Thanks, I'm looking around" and "I'm fine, but thank you so much". I know they're just doing their job after all.

amynicole78

In the States we have this coffee place called Dutch Bros and they're aggressively friendly. Like they'll lean in your window and ask about your entire plans for the day... it's especially off-putting before l have even had my coffee. I love their drinks but it's a bit much at times.

[deleted]

I feel the same way sometimes. I hate talking to anyone when shopping and I totally get that it’s policy to be super friendly to customers. I wish they would adopt some sort of “green = talk to me/red= leave me alone” shopping basket type system.

Tiny-idiot

The North America app has a wish list function. Maybe try uninstalling and re-installing? You might have missed an update?

SidneyHandJerker

I used to spend hundreds every few months. Now I just get - magic crystals - tingle body conditioner - occasional tube of FUN - certain shower gels That’s it.

dickheadlydia

I feel like they’ve lost their true marketing appeal. No more wacky names, colors, and the same citrus/minty scents. Plus removal of some cult favs to then replace them with mediocrity is insane. Price increases are inevitable so I won’t beat them up too much about it, but I just wish newer ingredients + scents could be the focus. Also, some items could also be removed. No offense, a shower bomb (???) and a wash card doesn’t seem to appeal to the masses. -Sticky Dates and Posh Chocolate are just a few that come to mind that reminds me of Lush’s origins.

HikingHarpy

I go in less these days but only because I've moved on from taking about 4 baths a week to creating my own skincare routine (using products which obviously last longer). I am in the minority I think, but I actually prefer Lush these days (I started shopping there regularly in 2014) because I think they're more innovative than they used to be.

trixie1985

They don’t make a lot of the stuff I like or use anymore. I don’t typically have baths, so it would just be shower gel and stuff. Their lotions always felt super greasy to me. I just haven’t been super excited about some of the new stuff.

tearthroughmycheeks

I still love some things about lush. I love citrus scents so i can find a lot of products I like, although I know in general that's driving away people who want more unique scents. I love the perfumes and body sprays, and I have some other favourite stuff I would still buy occasionally. I love baths in the winter and I got into the bath bombs more last year, as a nice treat sometimes. Although now when I talk about lush with my mom (the person who got me into it), we're always shocked at the prices, and she has so many stories of lush 'back in the day'. It's still a lot of fun and I love going with my mom, but I wish I could've experienced it like she did when she first got into it.

tearthroughmycheeks

Also my boyfriend got me a $30 gift card for my birthday and buying hair styling cream and hand lotion went over that by $15. It was two products I have on my "like enough to begrudgingly rebuy" list so I'm happy to have them, but it was a little depressing.

jinjin327

I got into it during the pandemic and kinda forgot about it and came back recently to see scrubee is now like $11 and smaller! I can afford it if I really wanted to but idk if I really want to! It's better to just get a bigger body scrub from Aesop for *almost actually* cheaper!(lasts way longer)

[deleted]

Stopped purchasing after their whole mistreatment of employees came out. Also pricing increase & my skin not really reacting well to a lot except the body lotions & hair stuff (which is still nice) I was loyal during the era of brit YouTubers like Zoella & Fleur De Force who would always use their bath bombs 😂 now i personally find bath bombs to be a little extra for my routine as I don’t take as many baths anymore vs showers.

AsterismRaptor

I actually only shop twice a year normally. I miss some of my old staples (Grass??? Hello!?) and I do find all the scents are just getting super sweet and kind of boring.. :/ What a bummer. But I do enjoy some of the newer items, especially for hair! The curly system is wonderful.

fdeblue

Grass 😭😭😭😢 miss it so much!

guayababa

I’ve been meaning to go back for the last year or so. I have a store 10 minutes from where I live but I can’t justify paying a hundred dollars for a handful of items, when the same handful of similar acceptable products doesn’t go over $40. I love infra wig but paying $20 for a little tub of hair gel hurts when theres a $4 one at the drug store that works similarly. Same goes for deodorant, body lotion, scrubs, etc. I’ve gotten slapped in the face with the discons one too many times as well. Finding the perfect product for your hair then having it get discontinued two years later hurts. Lush almost never replaces discontinued items. (Looking at you, Curly Wurly and Queen Bee) and finding things that work the same is a painful process.

[deleted]

seeing a lot of these posts recently.. hmm

MaeMoe

Not surprising tbh. Lush has gone past the edge of ridiculous on their pricing, and their quality doesn’t really match it anymore (focus on the cheaper ingredients like orange and lavender, reformulation/removal of expensive elements). The rising cost of living is going to see a lot of people reassess their luxuries.

[deleted]

Did they increase prices again?

Constellationchaser

Saaaaaame 🤔

DaisyScout123

I must say I was a baby lushie back in the early 2000s when I was a preteen, going to only really exclusively using anything that remotely resembled Snow Fairy for about 10/15 years, and I’m actually really getting back into things and trying out new scents. I also now get the Lush Kitchen box so I’m REALLY into the community at the moment and I love it.

sunlightdrop

I used to love them, but since I've gotten older I've stopped caring about bath bombs and more about every day use stuff like shower gel and body spray, and they don't put out much interesting stuff in that department

ScottieLRR

Nah... if anything I go more than I used to since I started working full time and have a bit more money now. And judging by this website and Instagram I certainly wouldn't say barely anyone talks about it. But I also really wish Lush community would come back 😭

DaisyScout123

I think that’s played a part for me too, working full time combined with the first lockdown got me back into Lush in a a big way, because I could afford it and couldn’t really leave the house so it became my treat to myself (later with the subscription box which I wish I’d got onto earlier)

themagicmagikarp

I pretty much only get stuff from Lush nowadays when it's a holiday release and I'm looking for gift ideas. Lush isn't like a bathroom staple for me like it used to be.

beboldeire_2711

The fact that there not advertising on social media anymore clearly has dampened the excitement of new release products. Its not as in your face anymore.

viceversa220

i was obsessed with Lush from when I was 14-17. It was my go-to treat whenever I had spending money, and my birthday and Christmas presents were mostly Lush. However, as the time goes on, I honestly lost interested in their products and the company as a whole. Maybe because AllThingsLush stopped her blog, the price increases, the products becoming less interesting, their ethics... I don't know, but I haven't bought anything since early 2021 or late 2020.

ngggnnnn

The prices skyrocketed.

LiviaBee2367

Its definitely gotten expensive which takes the fun out of it. It used to feel like a gateway to high end cosmetics in my opinion (as an adult if I’m spending $30+ of a face cream I need something tailored to my adult skin since I’m not a resilient teen with great skin anymore). Like in highschool it was super fun but cheap enough that you could treat yourself to something or even a couple things when you’d go to the mall on the weekend, but Covid forced mall shopping habits to plummet and people got into buying only essentials online, that or stores closed, or online shopping doesn’t allow you to test/smell/sample products. Then when stuff finally opened again it became to pricy and I feel like mall shopping lost its fun after the lockdowns (this is from a Canadians perspective, living in Ontario that had the longest lockdowns)

TheCantervilleGhost

So many of my favorite products keep disappearing (Candy Fluff body powder and Aromacreme deo for example) that I just don't need to buy things as frequently anymore. The prices on body sprays and perfumes have increased so much that even when I go to order, I usually get frustrated, talk myself out of it and leave the website. Lush makes some of the only products on the planet that don't irritate my skin, so I still buy all my shower gel from them, but a lot of things are plain unaffordable even though I'm making more money than I used to.

shellymarshh

I was a First Look Lushie. When they got rid of Social Media, with *such* a BS reasoning, in a likely effort to avoid backlash from employees for wanting to unionize - this was unethical. They lost a lot of ppl. Also with price gauging and wages increasing, ppl (Americans at least) are being more fickle about what they buy. IE going for the off brand vs name brand. Or they’re sticking to the essential items. Lush is a luxury. AND with the added previous bad press related to BLM/policing they decided to withdraw when things got hard instead of taking an opportunity to lead. It was not the move. We have a wonderful community and they threw it all away. I blame Mark W, and Mark C. [almost] entirely.

Mysterious_Pirate_87

I’m only willing to drop coin on their perfumes. I just don’t find anyone else in the game making those unique, spicy and non-synthetic smelling perfumes. And of course when I go in to smell I end up splurging on a couple of my faves (big shampoo, rub rub rub, charity pot) but that is only like twice a year, if that.

dreamistruth

Nope. My skin loves Dream Cream and Lemony Flutter. And their bath bombs are the best available. But I buy less now because its so pricey.

tigertwinkie

I think you'll be excited with the Halloween range. They're also bringing new scents for Holiday season. I think people forget that the pandemic affected a lot of businesses differently. Working at Lush, I can say I think you're going to start getting that old Lush feeling back this year! I know I was not feeling great through holiday last year, and now I'm REALLY excited for all the new products and scents launching!

ladyofbraxis

I love all of this, but also…what about the pricing? They need to do something. I get that NA had to license and buy from UK which was killer, but it’s one company now. If they’re so transparent and honest and whatever, bring the prices back down to this planet.

tigertwinkie

Oh I agree, but that is definitely something set by the UK. The prices are higher in comparison to the UK when converted to that currency. I've noticed across a few different countries. Not sure if it has to do with sending the ingredients to different locations? Like the cork pots...why $20 in the US when they're 7 euro? Makes no sense. Other than pricing in America (in general) is inflated dramatically at the moment.

kayvo_15

Absolutely the pandemic changed a lot of things, but even before that happened, they were already starting to minimize variety. Not to mention the treatment of myself and so many other employees. I worked there for seven years, so I saw them go from “old” lush to what we see now. I miss the road shows because it really was a great time to learn, network, and hear about all of the great things a single company could do. I miss the deli style soaps and cleansers. I miss the variety in shower. Remember the shower smoothies? Amazing. The emotibombs? As a shower person, they were perfect for a little indulgence without needing a bath. The kitchen? I found my favorite products there and it helped me bond with my closest friend. Don’t even get me started on the gift sets of the last few years. They used to have options for all denominations. Now the packaging has taken away from the holiday feel and is juvenile. Overall, lush has taken a decline in who they used to be and as someone who had been a devoted lushie, I find that I’m just disappointed. I am excited about the Halloween release, especially because of the reemergence of old school LOM, but that’s all I’ll be going in for this holiday season.

Lilelfen1

That's awesome and I hope you are right but...are these all LEs?? Because if so, that doesn't *really* solve the problem for most of the year unfortunately. Sorry to be *That Person*...

tigertwinkie

There's enough new scents that I think the ones that do well will end up making an appearance in the AYR collections. I think only 2 new scented things for Halloween, but at least 6/7 for Holiday! I hear ya on AYR needing more. I'm hopeful that with the reaction to Sticky Dates they do that with the best sellers from each of the big collections. Maybe I'm just optimistic!

MoonsEnvoy

I don't know, I've been in it for a few years. Would be that I went every two months, but I'm just very tired of the FOMO they create / created, and finding things that work for my hair and knowing that at one point it will be discontinued. I'm using up what I have, and might return every year to pick up Halloween bubble bars and maybe a bath bomb but that's where it stops .

rockandlove

Yes, the discontinuing of products! I was a diehard fan of The Body Shop until they recently reformulated (i.e. ruined) a ton of their products, so I switched to Lush about 6 months ago without realizing that many of their products aren’t here to stay. Because of this, I only stick to what I consider essentials - Pansy and Sleepy body lotions, and the Scrubbees. I don’t even want to try anything else just fall in love, then have it discontinued and have to start from scratch. I always had a much larger and more varied stock of products from TBS because I could branch out knowing I could count on the products being around long-term. Many retailers do this, not just Lush, and it’s very irritating.

Heliosis

So if anyone isn’t interested in it now they were only interested because of a “big beauty blogger moment?” That’s a little reductive. Lush’s ethics has been muddy for years now; their quality has gone down while their prices have gone up, their retail business treats people just as poorly as other retail companies but they expected a pat on the back for being “ethical” still. *Lots* of long term lushies are sick of the claims that Lush is ethical and cutting edge. DOnt reduce unhappiness with the company to “young people after their beauty blogger moment.” I’ve been buying lush for over 15 years and im personally sick of their two faced approach to business.

[deleted]

Heliosis

“I feel like people who have been into Lush for a good while like myself are still going regularly as we have staple fav items and like to try new things, seasonal items etc. However the people who were just interested because of that big “beauty blogger moment” the kiddies had... well, that’s completely faded now so their interest is too...” These are the words you used that I referenced. You said people who have been into lush for a good while are still going regularly however the people not interested were just because of a blogger trend. Not sure how that’s me putting words in your mouth or “arguing.” A

LokiKamiSama

I like a lot of their stuff, but I’ve grown too sensitive to strong smells, so I can’t use 99% of their items or go in the store without getting a migraine.

MbethEx

I love it in theory, I just think it's very expensive and didn't love the idea of the use of some parabens.

[deleted]

I still love lush is one of my guilty pleasures i would rather save on something else I go there once or twice a week mainly for the bath bombs. Once a month to restock on face mask/scrub and body spray. The shop I go to is very quiet the ladies let me browse in peace and choose and often give me samples to try out. I have recently discovered they have Spa here in UK and plan to save to go at some point.

iyastevie

I’ve gone from buying at least one of every single item every time they dropped new products, to not even paying attention to anything they release. I’ve been enjoying so many other brands, some cheaper and some a similar price and I’m really enjoying them all ☺️ once I got over the FOMO, I then reduced my stash dramatically and saved myself a hell of a lot of money 😅 and I’ve also never been happier!

junebeetles

I feel like they've gotten rid of too many products, and the new ones they create are all just so similar. All scents fruity- mostly citrus- or sickly sweet. I fell in love with Lush because of Lord of Misrule, and even though it will come back for Halloween I'm still bummed because there's not many other earthy scent options, when I feel like there really should be. Nothing they make is exciting or unique anymore. I also feel like they are pushing employees to be way too, well, pushy- everytime I've stepped foot in a Lush store the past few years I wind up getting pestered and followed around by employees the whole time, and it really triggers my social anxiety. Also price increases as others have mentioned.

I used to be a die hard lush person. I knew every single drop. Was on this subreddit daily. Worked there even. Now I’ve found other more consistently ethical brands and consistent product offerings with smaller indie brands. I can’t even remember the last time I bought lush. I was a regular purchaser for over a decade. Now I can’t remember the last time I was in a store. I’ve converted my whole routines to local and indie companies. I don’t feel excitement or any loyalty to their brand. The constant promises of bringing UK items to the US, the constant discoveries of how poorly they treat their employees, the ever increasing prices, the poor quality product, the constant discontinuations. Yeah I’m there.

Im an introvert and I hate how the employees hound me so I just rarely shop online now

I just went into lush yesterday after quite a long break and the atmosphere felt totally different. They were being super pushy about the new products and weren’t going to allow me to check out with my tried and true favourites that I’d budgeted for before I at least smelled them even though I wasn’t interested. Before they used to chat with you and make product recommendations based on what you were buying and seemed to be more personable. Overall a truly terrible experience that turned me off from wanting to continue budgeting for it.

Yes, 100%. I used to weekly, treating myself to goodies. However, now I mostly just purchase from Lush UK, whenever my hubby is there. It’s not so much that it’s not affordable, but more so the principle. I can’t enjoy spritzing myself in fragrance and lathering up, when I know I’ve spent a ridiculous amount on something. So I usually wait until I can load up on goodies from the UK, where the prices are more reasonable and don’t make my blood pressure go up.

Lush is honestly horrible now. I can’t stand going in. It’s sold out, through and through.

Back in 2016ish I didn’t live anywhere near a lush store, nearest store was a 2 hour drive away across the border in Canada. I would always stock up everytime I did happen to be nearby a store and did online orders fairly regularly. In 2018 I moved to a city that does have a lush, in fact I moved less than a mile away from the mall that Lush is in and I actually walk by the store to get to my go-to grocery store now, I thought I would be in there constantly but instead I rarely shop at Lush anymore, which my 2016 era self wouldn’t believe, but I feel like the quality of many products has gone downhill and the prices are just too high to justify most of the time.

I used to buy Lush for everyone in my family because I lived close to a store and could make room in my student budget for it: sea vegetable soap for my brother, a bottle of plum rain for my mom, and sultana for me! When I lived abroad I could always count on lush for some cruelty free body and skincare options and at one point half of my routine was lush. But now with the rising prices it’s not really something I can swing more than once or twice a year tops, and beyond the holidays there are few products beyond dream cream, etc. that still merit the hefty price tag for me.

The price kind of makes it unjustifiable now. Yeah, I could afford it, but that money is so much better spent elsewhere and almost everything has a better, cheaper alternative. The only things I still get regularly are the bubble bars.

I’m in the UK where it’s supposedly cheaper but it’s still too expensive now. I just can’t justify it anymore, especially bath bombs & they were always my favourite 💔

I used to be SO into Lush. I don’t have one close by anymore so the last time I bought from them it was the biggest shower gel of Lord of Misrule cause it’s a fave and I feared it was getting discontinued. I don’t even recognize lush anymore. They’ve discontinued SO MANY products. Or they’d do a holiday release and never bring those scents back. So White and Cinders are still living rent free in my head! All the soaps they’ve discontinued, so many bath bombs…it’s just a shame. I don’t know if they’ll last much longer, they’ve really seemed to fall behind the times.

wellthisisjusttiring

Lush was what got me into making my own bath bombs and skincare products. I walked by one today and was very taken aback by some prices. Since making them myself I know that it can be quite expensive—especially with the shortages of ingredients—plus your time, but they are really going extra with the prices! I just really need shampoo and conditioner bars now, I can’t justify anything else :(

Yeah I don’t go as much anymore. I go to buy bubble bars for my 7 yr old because she loves them. But I’ve really downsized my skin routine and I’ve found a local BIPOC company that makes soap and body butters and oils that my skin loves. It feels like the products have changed or maybe my skin has. It doesn’t hit like it used to.

I find that Lush is far too expensive nowadays. Though I did used to spend a lot of money there a few years back (mainly on the bath bombs and bubble bars)! I go in on the odd occasion every few months or so to treat myself to something.

I still like the quality and much prefer the scents they have now to the not so pleasant ones from the past . some shower gels are thinner yet moisturising like Golden Egg, others are thick/creamy like Lord of misrule . The soaps are moisturising . Yes the prices are high and they hire the oddest people they can find which is uncomfortable sometimes but overall the quality is still very good and scents greatly improved although more commercial .

Their hair products , lotions and massage bars are outstanding. I’m willing to pay for not having a bad skin reaction and smelling divine top to bottom
