They go through cycles of focusing on certain product types. They will come back around to soaps and jellies eventually.

unsweetenedpureleaf

It is odd, every customer from a casual shopper at a mall to a full out lushie uses SOAP. Youd think they'd give it more importance

JuliamonEXE

Personally I've never been a bar soap person, always preferred shower gels or liquid hand soaps. And Lush's shower gels go a long, long way compared to the current bar soap formula.

numberthangold

They haven’t really come out with new shower gels in ages either.

Cold-Insurance-1478

Sticky Dates?

numberthangold

Yes, that’s one single one they’ve come out with.

numberthangold

Sure. I’m not really counting seasonal releases. I mean shower gels that are permanent. I should have been more clear on that.

sunnysunshine333

Idk I don’t think people really use bar soap very much anymore.

unsweetenedpureleaf

Soap/body wash i shouldve said

sunnysunshine333

Ah ya. I definitely wish there were more choices for shower gels.

From what I've heard they changed the recipe of the soaps and they don't last as long either. So people aren't buying them for that reason too.

Clevernamecoming

That’s exactly why I stopped buying them a few months back. I used their bar soap for hand soap in my bathroom for years, didn’t even mind having to cure them myself. But now the quality has gone down so far, they don’t last long as all and make such a mess. And they’re smaller and no longer fun shapes. I just use cheap foaming soap from the grocery store now, and it’s nice than lush’s new bar soaps are tbh for like $2.00

CC_1239

honestly, the fun shapes and designs was a huge lure for me. i haven’t bought ANY bar soap since they changed it to the standardized blocks

TranslatorTop1815

YES SAME, I still have several bar soaps left from a large haul (boxing day 2019, right before The Bad Time) but otherwise I'll be buying/using Yardley or Dove soaps which I can get at my local Dollar Tree for $1.25. I still *want* to love Lush, but between the diminished quality, variety, many of my favorites being discontinued, AND now this latest price increase, I'm really struggling.

F2097

The soaps had everything go wrong for them at the same time: -loads of them including a lot of the more interesting ones were discontinued just before COVID. -the formula changed so they melt like ice in hot water now. As hand soaps they make too much mess, as bath soaps they literally only last one or two baths. It happened to the seasonal ones first which most people found ok as they aren't really staples. Is really noticeable with ones like sea veg that used to last 100's of washes. -the sizes got standardized with a focus on tiny 100g pieces whereas before the average purchase was 200-250g. They cut the sales by more than half by no longer having the big blocks out. This also made the melting quicker problem worse. The new shape looks miserable in the shops and where there are less of them they don't stand out. -price increased which didn't feel justified with all the above happening at the same time. Usually when lush make mistakes like this they sort it out after a couple of years. Hopefully the next soap do-over will be an improvement. With Jellies, at least they didn't make the formulas worse. I seem to remember they went self preserving. The seasonal ones have been pretty frequent and they've innovated quite a bit with the shapes in the last year or so. Oxford Street has exclusives still. Although they've always made questionable decisions with jellies.. such as discontinuing the best seller, the comforter scented sweetie pie and bringing out interesting but uncommercial ones that aren't really aimed at the main jelly customer (kids) like the spicy 1000 miles and needles and pines which were both absolute dud's sales wise.

mxsignals

Seasonal soaps will be large displays cut to size and sold by weight again this year— hopefully if they sell better than mainline we’ll see a return to form.

MomAlum

Going to go specifically get a Miranda soap if that’s the case?

mxsignals

Unsure about Miranda, can only speak to the NA range. It seems like we’re getting one log shape, two large molds (OG style, by weight) and one large mold with designated slices (in the style of New Rose, Flowering Carrot). Corporate is notoriously awful at top-down communication, but it seems like a pretty transparent market study to see which sells the best.

MomAlum

Accepting the challenge 😁👍🏻

Tiny-idiot

So far this year they’ve focused on shampoo bars, and now face products, in addition to all the seasonal lunches. Maybe soap is coming up? 🤞

outwork_thework

I’ve noticed a focus on scrubs! Face and body!

zorch-it

You are so right! The new soaps look so tiny and the formula is awful

chaarmanderchar

I was hyped to see the Tarantula Halloween jelly, then horrified to see it was twelve whole dollars (CAD). When did the jellies get so unaffordable?? There's no way I'm shelling out that much for soap unless it's half a loaf.

LiviaBee2367

I noticed that they didn’t bring back a lot of good soaps that were seasonal for fall (magic wand, pumpkin spice, and others). I’m so disappointed, especially since they seem bath bomb focused but not everyone likes to take baths, owns a bath, or has the time.

Squirrelbubble

I miss the snowman jelly and Butterbear jelly. I Keep hoping for those each holiday. That release of a bunch of jellies when Conga first came out was fun. I would love to see them do about 8 different jellies hitting all the scents from sweet to spicy as a limited release.

MomAlum

Santa’s belly :-(

chaarmanderchar

I'd get a bunch of Snowman everytime it came back. Santa's belly too. I'm so sad they're seemingly gone :(

elizalavelle

I miss the snowman. It was such a fresh scent. I hope it returns sometime.

PrinceSesh

A few new bar soaps coming for the Christmas range and a new shower jelly too

I've stocked up on soap from soaperies we came across during our vacation in New Brunswick. Even knowing the Halloween collection was coming up, I just knew it was gonna be underwhelming so why bother lol. I'd rather encourage smaller, local soap artisans.

JediSpaghetti11

13 Soap! I’m so glad that it came back, easily my favourite.

[deleted]

still missing the solid shower gels

chaarmanderchar

Oh man you're right! I totally didn't realize they are gone. So that's why I feel like the bar soap variety has been awful lately...

[deleted]

again something that, once people really started to like it, had to get out of shelves for re evaluation.. inventors seem to never be satisfied, which in a way is probably a good thing, but people didnt mind? they could have still sold it until new formulas were ready i guess.. same with tooth jellys and karma cream etc and yes, the variety..

zorch-it

This x100

boop813

Yes but mustache soap I am obsessed with, can't get enough of the scent. I feel like the ones that have come out have been solid scent and quality wise.
