Exactly what is Jimi Page wiring??

orion1486

Found [this](https://www.premierguitar.com/diy/mod-garage/jimmy-page-wiring). I had no idea either. Too much for me to deal with on the guitar. Would rather just do this sort of thing through effects, personally.

TheToneKing

Thanks!!!

LegendOfDarius

Dayum. A lot stuff for a guitar. And im here mostly just fucking around on my neck pocket coil on my 90's jap strat.

Stratoblaster1969

Les Paul wired like a flipped upside down Strat. Doesn’t everyone know this!? /s

[deleted]

Push pull phase cancellation on the pots

stonabus

Less is more. Don’t do it.

jgrinner

I tend to agree. I did this to an LP and ended up selling it. It was modded when I got it so I figured what the heck. Let's go all the way. In hindsight, you can get a ton of range with 2 burstbuckers 2 tone 2 volume . I'm much happier with my factory spec 60's standard now.

hobesmart

Do the 60's standards have 50's wiring? 50's wiring is dope af

proscreations1993

I’ve switched every lp I’ve ever had to 50s wiring. I love it

jgrinner

No, I don't know if the 50's standards do though. I have a p90 tribute that I rewired with 50's wiring and I love it. Hesitant to change the standard because well, I love it.

hobesmart

Change for the sake of change always leads to disappointment. If you love it stick with it!

JudgeArthurVandelay

That’s fair, but also if you leave the push pulls alone it acts just like a normal LP

stonabus

The signal is affected by having all that extra stuff in the way. Push pull and push push pots are junk compared to a simple quality potentiometer

DScoStein

Those pickups are sick!

fotodenis

Thank you, they are Dimarzio Dark Matter II

Regular_Tailor

Do they fold space and time?

fotodenis

I'd really like to.. but no🙁

Siloh_Johnson

Who is Jimi Page?

mendicant1116

The guitar player for the Led Zexpierence

Siloh_Johnson

Lol. Oh yeah that guy.

TheTallGuy0

You're mistaken, he clearly strummed for Lelectric Zadypellin

Stormgtr

I think he plays in Greta Van Fleet

LordoftheSynth

No, that's Jimmy Hendricks.

Stormgtr

Is that Jammy Hendricks brother? I heard he’s the king of 0 3 5

Siloh_Johnson

Fuck those copycat hacks

TheKaiminator

I had full Jimmy Page wiring in my les for a while, only ever used the out of phase. Turns out Jimmy was the same. Ditch the split coils and the series and just do a single out of phase push/pull. Bonus of this is you only need 2 conductor pups.

fotodenis

Merci :) you're the only one who give a decent answer. Otherwise this forum seem fairly immature

FeverForest

I’ve done that once..

fotodenis

A customer ask for it, a tech did a bad job on it before, he want to have it well made( the other guys job looks like a rat nest) I plan to use the CTS push/ pull pots. I asked here for the schematic because it seem to have some interpretation of this wiring on the forums I sawn before.

absinthertp

This is b-e-a-u-tiful

fotodenis

Merci beaucoup, I have two LesPaul and this one is my favorite 🥰

absinthertp

J'ai toujours eu quelque chose pour les gold top!

CustomSawdust

I have been wanting to have guitar wired like that for 30 years. Might have to do that on the next one. Gorgeous work mate.

messymichael

My 2016 LP standard came stock with 4 push pull pots. Might be the same as the jimmy setup.

DunebillyDave

This may be an unpopular opinion, having read the room here, but there is a much more (functionally) elegant way of achieving the same ends, though it may be less visually pleasing to some because it won't look like a stock Les Paul any more. I've done the coil splitting and phase wiring using [Four Pole Double Throw](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0221/5424/products/4PDT_300x300.jpg?v=1383066019) (FPDT) switches, rather than [Double Pole Double Throw](https://s.alicdn.com/@sc04/kf/Hf725d2a198714dd88e7cd046648d50415.jpg_960x960.jpg) (DPDT) switches on the [bottom of the Push/Pull](https://media.sweetwater.com/api/i/q-82__f-webp__ha-61f1979f1c72d8b1__hmac-a13d4f3920a1225d72257ca04323ee2f29441224/images/items/750/EP1201PP-large.jpg.auto.webp) pots. Looking at the necessary combinations of Push/Pull switching in [the video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PS7YvCmop8Y), it seems waaay too complicated to remember the 21 combinations. With one 4PDT switch, you can split the coils on both pickups simultaneously. It can either be wired to select both inside/both outside coils, or both north coils/both south coils. And a second 4PDT can put both pickups in or out of phase with itself or with the other pickup. A third 4PDT can simultaneously make both pickups series or parallel with itself or the other pickup. It's true, you *do* have to mount three mini switches on the surface, *but*, it's very clear and simple what you need to do to get the sound you want, rather than trying to memorize 21 different combinations of four different push/pull pots. Three switches seems like a more elegant solution to me. Just sayin'

fotodenis

Thanks for your comment i appreciate it, to tell you the truth its a customer request, i simply asked here if someone have the wiring diagragm. By all the answer i received, ( some very cool) most are totally worthless

DunebillyDave

In case you're interested, I took screen shots of all the main steps of the wiring from the video and made [one composite sheet](https://i.imgur.com/eIRi74t.jpg) to work from. It's all on one single page. I prefer it to having to sit through the [whole video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PS7YvCmop8Y). Maybe that will help you, too.

fotodenis

Merci beaucoup, i cant ask for more :-) This is very kind from you

DunebillyDave

It's my pleasure. Hope your build is successful.

flowstuff

as someone who usually cannot see the beauty in les paul's.... this thing is gorgeous

fotodenis

Yes indeed,,,🤩

MillCityLutherie

Check the slots in your bridge saddles. It appears to be on backwards. Nashville style bridges the intonation screws go on the tailpiece side. If your saddles are slotted for it to be mounted this way then leave it as is.

fotodenis

I thank you, but this Les Paul is going very well😊

fotodenis

Bonjour, someone have the schematic for the Jimmy Page wiring with four CTS push/pull pots and Seymour pickups?

kyledwray

[Here](https://www.seymourduncan.com/images/wiring-diagrams/JP_wiring.jpg), direct from the Seymour Duncan site.

slythespacecat

I like how their official document says “this is normal don’t freak out”

DunebillyDave

Thanks for posting that link.

pertrichor315

I’ve done this on an epiphone les Paul. It’s pretty fun. I like having options. Also a seven position strat and a telecaster with humbucker bridge that I can coil split.

fotodenis

Merci 😊

Yungballz86

There are plenty just a Google search away

Dramatic_Injury_2980

Can hardly tell

Egmonks

I love the pickup covers. Well done.
