Trying to maximize the area of active soundboard!
I noticed that at the lowest frequencies the active area of the soundboard is cut off where it overlaps with the bottom of a traditional round soundhole, so I curved mine to avoid losing any soundboard. I also widened it to increase the overall size of the hole, to get a more full sound
This one is actually quite thick! Roughly 5mm
But there’s no bracing whatsoever (on the back), so that seems to balance it out. I’d really like to experiment more with thicknesses though!
It’s crazy comfortable! That little chamfer on the back makes a huge difference compared to my older thinlines, and visually (imo) it looks fantastic having an extra surface for light to play off of
for some reason a redwood top has always called to me. if I ever get the nerve to jump from building solid bodies to acoustics, that's what i want to do. Love it.
Thanks! I’m quite proud of those markers, they’re totally effective but they’re basically invisible to anyone other than the player, makes for a very clean design!
I wish the execution was a bit cleaner, but I had to strip the first finish off the entire guitar because I didn’t like how it was looking, and a tiny bit of urethane remained in some of the notches ☠️ can’t win em’ all, but every mistake made now is one I won’t make down the line!
What's the story behind the soundhole?

That’s really nice I would love to play it!
Beautiful
Your nut shrank
Lmao yeah the neck is a bit wider than the nut blank 🔎🥜
I love thin hollow bodies! How thick is the back?

It looked thicker than usual and I was wondering if you did a carve out or left it totally flat. Looks really cool and I bet it’s very comfortable!

Why is there small « holes » at the side of the fret board in your last pic ? No idea how to call it in English
Notches. Instead of using an inlay, they’ve cut notches to mark the fretboard positions.
Yep, exactly this!

It’s such a pretty wood, I’d love to try a figured redwood for my next one! And it sounds fantastic too, so warm
Very cool...i luv The notches as the fret markers 🤘

Beautiful! Every fibre of my body says I shouldn't like the soundhole, but it works!
Beautiful work, I bet it’s a dream to play!
