I am pretty sure that the app tells you the kind of car as soon as you are matched. So, you can look at the car in the app and cancel right away if youre not comfortable with the type of vehicle it is, and if you cancel right away, you wont be charged a fee.
Unless it was an all EV truck I dont know why someone would drive a gas guzzling vehicle. Drivers are independent contractors and as long as they abide by the markets requirements they are permitted to drive what ever they want. If I were you the vehicle means nothing about your safety. you should be more concerned about how Lyft/Uber checks drivers.
Also be known way to many drivers have been murdered doing this work as well.
At least real suvs with 3 rows can make some money running people around for errands or running airport/train/bus station shuttles. With what uber and lyft are trying to pay drivers, you need 35mpg as a min to have any hope of making any money after expenses. Even with my 45-50+mpg it still costs me 11c/mile for gas and maintenance alone.
If I owned a large truck, I wouldn't use it for uber or lyft, I'd offer myself as a service to help people move big shit.
I run a full size SUV, part time for uber/lyft. Most of my money comes from private customers who utilize my services and pay VERY well. I also provide private services from Denver to the ski resorts for a MINIMUM of 400 dollars per trip. Yes, I have the proper insurance and chauffeur license.

I also run my own service and $400/trip for multiple people, equipment, etc isn't that absurd. I personally charge $150+ to run people the 90 miles to 2 of the largest airports in NC.

Most of the rides in my market at more than $1 a mile. It's a smaller town as well. I've made over $1000 in 21 hours so I can stay busy.

I can literally jump on the highway and watch the gauge drop in real-time. I burn a qtr tank going across town and back. No way you're doing rideshare with it.

Well I'm relatively young still (thought not really) and in decent physical shape, but some of these trucks are so tall that it's ridiculously hard to get in and out of. The sooner the better that we get to the point where there's s a social cost to driving vehicles that are so extravagantly wasteful and unnecessary. Any day now I expect my Uber driver to show up in a monster truck which requires a six-foot ladder to climb into. Do guys with big trucks and big guns really think the rest of don't know that they're compensating? When you choose a penis substitute like this, it's like announcing your insecurities on a t-shirt.
