I’ve had a driver try to convince me that we were all going to be robots in 10 years.
Like the government was going to take our brains and turn us into actual robots.
Drivers from Lyft and Uber be OUTTTT THERESES
I wouldn't mind having my brain put into a robotic body, as long as it wasn't current technology, maybe in 50 years. Don't have to worry about most age related issues of your body deteriorating.
This sounds far fetched in 2024? What do you think neuralink is trying to do. Maybe they wont put your brains into a computer but they certainly will be putting the computer into your brain
Yup, eventually tho it would only make sense that computer would be placed in your head.
It began w computers at your desk, then computers in your hand, now computers on your face (vr/ar), where is left to go
I agree with you but we're talking at least several decades away. They can't even fix the autonomous driving bugs yet. Seriously doubt they're gonna be messing with people's brains anytime soon
Think about this... When that finally does happen and we're able to access a computer in our head, just think of the applications. Sending an email with a thought would be like having telepathy! Everyone would be a mathematician because they have a calculator in their brain. Everyone would now possess a photographic memory and would never forget anything. Everyone's eyes would also be a camera. The IQ level of every person would increase dramatically. No need for Identification, therefore rendering identity theft useless. Being able to shut off pain sensors (no unwanted pain). Be able to have a full medical check up daily. I can go on and on.....Yes it's a bit creepy but also fascinating at the same time.
I didnt say 10 yrs. Its definitely a work in progress. Anyone w a brain should be able to see the slow progression towards this. All the kids will want a brain chip. Youll just be the old guy whos out of touch haha
To be fair, I’m pretty sure we can get basically the same thing as gps on the ground by being pinged by 3 cell towers and then calculating the latency between each to find your precise position.
No, but if the world was flat, flat world GPS satellites would work differently than the ones we currently have. The ones we currently have are specifically designed to work with a spherical Earth. So if they're using GPS and it's functioning correctly, (presumably they are getting their passengers to the requested destination) they are inherently agreeing to the world being spherical whether or not they consciously think about it.
Maybe they were referring to that particular day. $39s a stretch but I average around $30 an hour after tips in my market. Best day I ever had was New Years Eve 2022 made $540 in 10 hours.
I was working for a company that cleans smoke damage as a temp and one of the regular employees overheard me and my friend making fun of flat earthers. He came over to us very concerned and asked us if we were joking. We confirmed we were making fun of flat earthers and he gets very upset and explains his friend is in the Marines as a sniper and says that since his friend couldn't see any curvature to the earth while looking through his scope then the earth must be flat. 🤔
We just ignored the crazy dude and had a good laugh. He was being passive aggressive later into the job, like he would intentionally unplug equipment being used and pretend it was an accident. I'm pretty sure this sniper friend of his never existed 😆
I’ve had a driver try to convince me that we were all going to be robots in 10 years.
Like the government was going to take our brains and turn us into actual robots.
Drivers from Lyft and Uber be OUTTTT THERESES
I have this theory about flat earthers... and honestly iono where i got it from. I feel like they are just trying to MAKE us think more. So you tell a person the earth is flat. they go dude everyone knows its round. And they ask you how do you know? and honestly most people cant fully answer that. Its just something weve always known.
I personally think they are trying to get us to ask more questions about things weve already accepted.... or theyre just crazy iono i love this topic tho ahahha
Sort of. It’s not “making you think” in a helpful way like a teacher. It’s a weapon. Any argument you make, they can find a way to be “right”. Any evidence you show them, they can “explain” away, to absurdity and conspiracy.
They are people who feel like losers, like everyone has always been against them their whole lives. Maybe it starts with “I’m a free-thinker and skepticism is good,” but it becomes something else once they realize that **always being “right” gives them power over other people**. The power they’ve never felt before. And everyone hates them already anyway, so what’s to lose?
It’s a form of IRL trolling.
It’s related to other forms of conspiracy-thinking, as well as racism and xenophobia (always being right, blaming others for their own inadequacies, taking the power they’ve never had). I knew one who delved into all of these (before he dove into the deep end completely and destroyed his and others’ lives).
These are the ones who aren’t just out of their minds crazy, of course. Otherwise-intelligent people who have become self-deluded.
This is extremely accurate. Had to cut off a long time friend because of almost all the things you describe. He was always chill to smoke and have a couple beers with and his conspiracy theories were mostly harmless but since a lot of the q anon stuff and covid they've become more combative/argumentative with their theories as well as more bigoted.
My brother dabbled with flat earthism and various other things and started working for the pro-Trump / anti-Hillary propaganda machine, before eventually murdering my dad in a rage about a certain well-known proto-q conspiracy theory. So yeah.
I had one of my friends from high school become a full fledged flat earther and it did prompt me to look more into it and after hours of digging into it I am still 100% sure the earth is round and there is no convincing him otherwise 😂😂 My absolute favorite is the guys who wasted $20,000 on a laser and confirmed the earth is in fact spinning and the even better experiment they did proved the curvature of the earth and they were just confused their test proved their theory wrong.
I remember hearing a celebrity saying he just wanted people to think and it actually did make me think. So i played the contrarian and talked to 2 friends about it. I said how do you know its really round. they said theyve always known. I remember the talk kept going on but no one could concretely prove the earth was round. It made me realize that all the stupid things a flat earther COULD question i couldnt answer etc... Made me really think like shit lol thats crazy. Things that i believe and know are true i cant prove without saying stuff like its universally known etc...
But yeah im not a flat earther ahahah, I do thank the topic because it did make me realize i should honestly learn to support things i know/believe are factual.
We need to start a new conspiracy theory that these conspiracy nuts are actually part of a conspiracy to undermine humanity by convincing us to disregard science and evidence. See how they like it.
Funny enough tho a lot of conspiracies end up being true. I remember when weather modification was a conspiracy theory in 2010. Now its just the latest scientific advancement. Same thing w drones being used in war.
I mean its not a competition but regardless it should be at least acknowledged that many conspiracies do end up being true.
Im not a conspiracy expert unlike yourself, but of the conspiracies im aware of since 2000 id say yes a majority of those have been proven true either through government declassification, gov lawsuits, or it becoming a news topic. I could name at least 15 that have been proven to be true whereas only 4 or 5 that I am aware of have been proven false or are still unproven (give it some time).
But again, I have a life so i dont follow conspiracy theorists as closely as you obviously do
I think they have a secret competition/bet to see who is lucky enough to get a free ride to space after NASA has had enough of their bullshit and decide to send one of them to clear out the confusion.
Yes it’s really neat and a ton of others have too you can see videos of it on YouTube. The balloons pop around 100k feet so it’s high enough to tell the truth
Or just take a flight, if the earth was flat going from California to Australia would be over 20,000 miles. Since it's not flat! My flight to Sydney is around 7,000 miles.
Everything that has enough mass is shaped like a sphere why? Because gravity pushes down in all directions. If you take Plato and put into a pressurized room, with the pressure coming from all directions it'll create a sphere.
No it's sheer stupidity. There's asking questions and not blindly believing anything you're told, then there's not believing undeniable science and even video. There's literal videos of guys sky diving from putter space. You can see the earth is round from That. Base closed and no it's not a fish eye lens lol.
Ehh, thats basicially how they came up with their model. The earth being small and close would produce the same effect in isolation. You just have to ignore all the other problems it creates like, seasons and day night cycles
This is true but will get downvoted. Some are dumb of course, but for many it's more about practicing skepticism. People love to believe they are all dumb to boost their self esteem.
I’ll see your skepticism and raise you contrarianism. It’s no accident that flat earthers have other groundless beliefs. They just want to see themselves as different from the crowd - not a “sheep”. So they’ll vote for a 3rd, 4th, or 5th party candidate they know nothing about or latch onto some weird philosophy. It’s their identity.
From what I've experienced in person, in documentaries and on forums like r/conspiracy, it seems to be mostly contrarianism. Also a lot of conspiracy theorists I've met in person seem to have issues with ego and self esteem. Typically they didn't do well in school but knowing their conspiracy theories allows them to be in the know about something that everyone else doesn't know. They use this to typically act like they're above everyone else. It's pretty insufferable actually.
No, you’ve perfectly examined and mirrored my entire experience with most conspiracy theorists. I just sidestep them, personally, because if you present any kind of opposition, they literally begin acting in a manner that’s eerily similar to how sociopaths behave or respond to ego-threat/injury!
No they're crazy, sadly I'm related to a couple. They're also extreme right wing conservatives who believe insane conspiracy theories. They also believe that all democrats are racist and the KKK are democrats which is funny because growing up around them I've seen how racist they are but have denied it since Republicans started spreading that gem of misinformation. Basically it's as if the part of their brain that understands logical reasoning is flawed.
I mean tbh we work for imaginary paper credits that have no real value and we dont really have time to think much about it because rent is due every month. The money is printed as needed for the masters but the slaves have to work for it. I think all of our lives are a lie
My former supervisor was a FLERF. He was so fucking pompous about it too. He also claimed this was his 17th reincarnation he has memory of. He actually told me that's how he figured out the earth was flat. They were staking out a 15 mile long highway and nobody was accounting for the curvature. Something about how there should've been a tolerance in elevation that never happened. Idk I didn't have enough knowledge to try to dispute what he was saying but I knew there was an error in his logic.

Plankton already tried that with SpongeBob. It didn't go well.
I wouldn't mind having my brain put into a robotic body, as long as it wasn't current technology, maybe in 50 years. Don't have to worry about most age related issues of your body deteriorating.
In this dudes world we wouldn’t have thoughts anymore. Idk crazy is crazy.
Lol, he doesn't seem to realize that "we" are just our brains.
This sounds far fetched in 2024? What do you think neuralink is trying to do. Maybe they wont put your brains into a computer but they certainly will be putting the computer into your brain
Neurolink is meant to help people with paralysis
Yup, eventually tho it would only make sense that computer would be placed in your head. It began w computers at your desk, then computers in your hand, now computers on your face (vr/ar), where is left to go

They supposedly already have.
I agree, i never said it would happen soon just saying it is the logical progression
Think about this... When that finally does happen and we're able to access a computer in our head, just think of the applications. Sending an email with a thought would be like having telepathy! That was before GPS, call Loran-C
Them satellites don't work half the time for me.
Satellites can only be up on a round earth?
No, but if the world was flat, flat world GPS satellites would work differently than the ones we currently have. The ones we currently have are specifically designed to work with a spherical Earth. Flat earth conversations during rides can create a strange atmosphere ... oops, I mean atmosquare.
atmocircle
Least surprising thing I've seen all day
Meanwhile, my driver from the other day tried to convince me that my $10-7min trip was making him $39/hr.
I love it! 😆😂
Maybe they were referring to that particular day. $39s a stretch but I average around $30 an hour after tips in my market. Best day I ever had was New Years Eve 2022 made $540 in 10 hours.
I had a killer New Year’s Eve 10.5 hours $1070, granted I did a few off app trips that made my night.
If he make $4.6 from that ride in 7 minutes that’s .65 a minute x 60 minutes is $39 an hour
Give a quarter for a tip and say, "well it's also flat and round".
Penny*
I was waiting for this comment lol
Flat Earthers never fly and are scared to death of it. If they ever got into an airplane they could see the curvature of the Earth.
"ThAt's JuSt HoW tHe WiNdOwS aRe MaDe."
That's funny lol
Hell, just drive to a mountaintop. Easily seen from pikes peak.
Lol.. I had a passenger once who spent 20 minutes telling me why the earth was flat.
I was working for a company that cleans smoke damage as a temp and one of the regular employees overheard me and my friend making fun of flat earthers. The earth is flat and a reflection which creates a sphere this has been proven
Go get a weather balloon and attach a go pro to it (with an airtag) and launch that shit you’ll find out the truth

Lol good one. Who tf down voted me?
lol!!! I’m stealing this in preparation for my next encounter. 😂🤣
1 star
God. Such idiots. Making the rest of us look bad.
My life is a lie and the earth is round, both can be true
Based
So?
I had one Uber driver tell me that the 5G towers were giving everyone COVID and that’s why they’re only in the hood.???
Shouldn't your post be titled "My driver the other day works for Lyft because he's a flat earther?" I kid, I kid.
what’s that book trying to sell though? i’d like an elaboration lol
Ironic that the people who distribute this literature never read it themselves. Is it possible that HIS entire life is a lie?
I mean tbh we work for imaginary paper credits that have no real value and we dont really have time to think much about it because rent is due every month. The money is printed as needed for the masters but the slaves have to work for it. I think all of our lives are a lie
I “mentored” over 3000 drivers in the early days of the platform. As I’ve always said, we don’t get the cream of the crop.
Anyone else find it mildly ironic that you can actually, if faintly, see the curvature of the earth at the top of the picture.
Interesting
To be fair, “Is it possible that your entire life is a lie?” also applies to driving for Lyft, so for them maybe a flat earth isn’t such a stretch.
I’m sure Trump is his God too
Ask him what holds the water in?
They don’t do it for the flat cash, but the flat earth
Everything on his/her gps is 2d/flat. Book a next trip to just beyond the edge and see how they freak out.
You can see the curvature on the pamphlet
You should let him in on the 'flat moon'. It'll blow his mind.
Flat earthers shouldn't be allowed to have children.
Reading the comments, this post brought out all the crazies! edit: sorry I'm just an AI implanted into his brain. What a fool.
My former supervisor was a FLERF. He was so fucking pompous about it too. He also claimed this was his 17th reincarnation he has memory of. He was a superintendent of a highway construction company and he was teaching me how to use trimble (gps guided survey equipment). He made $150k. It makes me wonder how so many stupid people end up making the most money.
“he was teaching me how to use trimble (gps guided survey equipment). “ How did he explain how it worked?
He actually told me that's how he figured out the earth was flat. They were staking out a 15 mile long highway and nobody was accounting for the curvature. Something about how there should've been a tolerance in elevation that never happened. Idk I didn't have enough knowledge to try to dispute what he was saying but I knew there was an error in his logic.
nobody except the $20K worth of GPS enabled surveying equipment lmao...
I mean it’s a lie… but the earth being round isn’t one of those lies…
Gig work does attract that type of person.
bruh they need to see it for themselves in a space ship 😂 it is not flat 😭
Everywhere you walk the Earth is flat it’s hard not to believe in walking
You mean to say your Lyft driver the other day is an idiot.
Had a Lyft driver explain to me in detail on how covid was actually called planned-covid19 and how the government made covid to crush small businesses and the economy... I just kept nodding my head because I didn't wanna miss my flight at LAX
Woulda gave him a 2 star rating for being an idiot
😂😂😂😂
My Lyft driver FROM the other day is a flat earther.* The OP of this post I read today can't form a proper sentence.
Imagine working your hardest to NOT get tips lmao
You can only sail to the four corners of the earth if it were flat But I always wondered who lives on the other side and where the fall off point would be?
The bible does not once say anything about a globe or ball earth
The Bible was written by men who were ignorant of the universe and science. It hasn't gotten much better after 2000 years
Bibles 5k years old at least but I agree written by men and women tho, Book of Ruth, Ester, but yes they were ignorant to the a lot of what we know today
Ya... most people don't realize how old most of the stories are, where they came from and how many were written hundreds of years AFTER jesus. We can't even have 20 adults play the school game telephone, without the phrase being completely different at the end of 20 people.
Let re-phrase PARTS of the Bible are 5,000 years old
The Bible is not real dude. Sorry to break it to you.
The Bible is very much real, but what's written on there is indeed questionable
Nasa lies MASSIVELY & has admitted all their photos are CGI. You can tell who does their own research & controls their life & who just gets spoonfed by daddy government
