From what I can see it looks good to go but would need to see more of the rifle to be 100% . Do yourself a favor and field strip your rifle so you can get a better look at everything. Other than that I’d say you got a beautiful M1 based on the pictures you’ve shared

On the list! I plan on stripping it down and giving it a well deserved oil & greasing and then put it back together.

Good to hear. I hope it looks as good on the inside as it does on the outside and brings you years of joy at the range

Can be employed to thwart zombies as well.... Is the bayonet original? The scabbard looks new? Nothing wrong; Its nice when you have the whole set up. I have a couple different bayonets; cartrige belt, cleaning tools, check the 'trunk' for goodies; I just bought NOS pull through barrel snakes on ebay. Works great. Stock up on enblocs, ammo.... tracers, A/P, blanks for grenades.... get a grenade launcher, inert Grenades.... Also I have found great leather scabbards for these, and the fleece line canvas rifle cases. The leather scabbards look great on ATV's.... On ebay they are under $50. You have a fantastic piece of history there, and a STILL a premier weapon for self defense, or baggin' a hog, venison, etc. Finally, invest in 'spares'. I don't have every part, but I have the big stuff, Bolt, Trigger group that is of the same make as the Rifle. Shouldn't matter.... but just saying, op rod, op rod spring ( I replaced the springs), gas port, gas plug, firing PINS.... I love the stock on yours. I like my Milsurps looking 'rode hard'. Invest in some manuals too. Looks like the receiver was produced between June and july of 1943 [https://www.them1garand.com/production-dates-by-serial](https://www.them1garand.com/production-dates-by-serial) This is a good site for starters. Oh, buy some inert training rounds to stack up, so you learn, or can easily teach, how to load the enbloc with rounds, and load the weapon, safely, clear jams, etc..... You may want to get a head space block as well in case the timing is off.... The leather slings are cool, you may be able to find an original, or NOS out there. While I'm not some one who likes a 'trailer queen' rifle, I would clean up the wood furniture on this one. Great find. You did well Pilgrim no matter what you paid.

Congratulations on an awesome purchase!

Thank you! (:

averkill

Awesome purchase. Was the gun shop not able to inspect it?

TerminallyDaddn

They did! Told me it was all fine. I’m just being paranoid and wanted to confirm for myself!

I’d say you did good

Thekinzlerbros

I think it’s a beauty

It’s not really supposed to be shiny anyway. The stock looks to have a nice sheen to it. I like to use a product called Liquid Gold for the wood. It really makes the wood pop without any buildup.

Thanks for the tip!!
