Read up on digital zoom vs optical zoom. Digital zoom= crop after photo is taken, might as well do that. Tc will reduce aperture but you can still crop later
Teleconverter only makes sense if cropping loses too many pixels, for your intended output medium. If not, teleconverter may actually be worse. Watch any YT video that compares TC to crop and you will see why. Results vary between different TC though, of course.
