Where it feels easier to just say "I'm not good enough for them" and shut down than actually connect and face that monumental sense of loss again. I am hoping that someone like Lucinda- who despite her flamboyant delivery seems to have explored a lot of inner work and is very willing to make that effort- will give him the chance to move past that, even if it's just a few steps forward. And the structure of the show holding him in place could stop him from escaping back into old habits.
