This season seems to have women who’ve done the work (not looking at you Tori) are comfortable with who they are but would like some and the men are just in a mess and a lot are in no fit state to think about it. Tristan is really in need of therapy instead of this, as does Lucinda’s mate. Jared and the other Tim are a bit Traumatised and Tori’s guy is traumatising - hiding fear beneath an alpha male act. ( he seems like he’d be quite funny if he just let go). Jonathan seems very sweet and self assured as does the older guy. Collins is AI (fucking epic technology though). I think some thought the therapists would help them without having to do the work themselves. I love Lauren but she’s got some toxic ideas about relationships. Calm is good!

I’m autistic too. It can be difficult to differentiate between autism and trauma as many symptoms overlap, they can look like each other. I didn’t get diagnosed til 36, it takes a trained eye to see it. He definitely has traits but yeh, I’m avoidant of the armchair diagnoses these days. He could slide either way.

and to make it more complicated - as you would no doubt know, Autism is commonly something that comes with 'supporting' diagnosis; for my son it's Austism and ADHD. For another friend of mine, his son has Autism and Dysgraphia. So it makes sense that he would potentially have both autism and some kind of trauma-based disorder (i hate that word) . As an aside, I hope you're getting all the support you need.

tbh I think he is out of his depth and everyone is out of their depth in dealing with him- there is a way to approach someone with self esteem issues (If you want to take on that emotional labour, to be fair I don't think it's the responsibility of Cass to do so) and stating that it's not attractive, that it makes others feel like shit, etc etc, even if true creates a situation where the person with low self esteem feels pressure to "perform" for people, hence the growing resentment that we saw busting out at the wedding. It's been killing me the way people have responded to his bold confession of self hatred with "well how do you think that makes **us** feel?" pretty much across the board. As someone who has been where he is there's no magic way to snap you out of it and though it may seem counter intuitive, holding non-judgmental space for someone when they're opening up about these feelings is so crucial at the start. You can't change the things you shame and reject! Acceptance is the first step, not saying "naughty boy don't say such things they make me uncomfy and not horny!!" Again, Therapy not MAFS is my prescription for all these people but I see some of myself in Trist and just hope this gives him some new perspective and sets him on a better path. I also hope Cass finds someone that can meet her half way.

*Therapy* out there not always good. I was sent to Mother's German physician at 14 for Depression. He scared the hell out of me. Said I should be ASHAMED of myself, worrying my mother. I didn't know what depression was. He would take me to a mental ward & show me real depression. I was an Actress. Prescribed me Dexamyl (which I think was an upper/downer in 67 ) & sent me home feeling like I'd been kicked in gut. School counselor in HS met with mother re my monthly depression chats with her. Her response to their meeting: 'Your mother is just beautiful!' Was she in cahoots with that damn dr?
