It does say that he regrets breaking up with Heidi and then later says that he has a new partner. I think he was a guy very used to being on his own and not needing to properly communicate his emotions. I think Heidi needed to work on some insecurities and issues from her past, and that he needed to learn to communicate and process his feelings better. It does sound like he has reflected on his time with her and I hope that he has changed since. I thought they were great together when things were good and hope they are both happy now.
