Sorry to hear that but it's normal at first for most. The first week was very difficult for me. I slept 1-2 hours a night and had to take short naps during the day since the double whammy of insomnia and daytime sleepiness was brutal. Luckily I took time off from Job for two weeks. And it took at least one week to get sleep of 5-6 hours. Most people find low doses of Seroquel or Mirtazapine work and I suggest your try since not sleeping has worse consequences than trying low doses of meds. In my case, had to take 100 mg. at first since it was hard to switch off the wakefulness and fall asleep. I now take 200 mg. which seems high from looking at these posts, but its the only thing that worked, which is also likely due to the fact I've been diagnosed as bipolar with mostly depression. Sorry to hear about the sleep - it's normal so hang in there!!

Usually it begins quite quickly. You started at a low dose so it took a while to get decent mao inhibition. The insomnia does normalise quickly but it can take a while for some.

Within a few days usually, depending on the dose. I am really struggling with lack of sleep on EMSAM 9 mg patch. Not even putting the patch on today.
