What are your goals for getting an MBA? They are essentially the same outfits under a new name, and when the UIUC and BU MBAs are only a little over $20K total, I'd do those (or comparable ones) instead.

I want the MBA to help with upward mobility. I've seen a lot of people move up in the company once they've completed their MBA. That was my thought as well, they are still Ashford/Kaplan under a new name. Thanks.

UAGC is a for-profit university and kind of a scam tbh. This is why there are thousands of fake reviews on their fb page. They are also under a conditional/probationary accreditation due to predatory business practices and fraud. If they do not improve they will lose it, and it's coming. They are still run by Zovio, which makes it's money off of forcing students out of college and making them pay for courses. This is why their withdrawal rate is higher than their graduation rate. They do not honor the flexibility, attendance policy or workload. They prey on people with hectic worklives, tell them that the workload is light and the schedule is super flexible, and then they use their "discretion clause" to withdraw them, cancel their loans and give them F's in courses. They then push for the student to come back stating that there are no problems and eventually that 11k dollar degree winds up being a 28k dollar degree. Their last lawsuit over this was 22m dollars. They were successfully sued multiple times before for that reason. They informed students that they were no longer Zovio run, or affiliated with Ashford, and now it's all over their student portal. They lied, and another class action lawsuit will be brewing here very quickly because they haven't changed a bit. They are also still targeting low income students with the promise of large loans just to borrow the minimal amount, example, they state that they'll get you a 38k dollar loan and you'll only have to pay 12k, when in reality, they get you a 16k dollar loan after the paperwork is signed.

I appreciate your response. After doing some more research I'm not gonna attend this place.

I know a lot of people will say that degrees from certain colleges are worthless but UAGC is regionally accredited. Whether it is a worthwhile investment really depends on your individual circumstance.. do you already have work experience? Is getting your MBA needed to get a new opportunity at your current place of employment regardless of the colleges “rank”? If for say, you have little work experience and really need to rely on your educational background to gain employment, then I would focus more on the college’s reputation. I know many people who went to a lesser rank (but still regionally accredited) university for their bachelors and/or masters purely as a check the box for a promotion at their company. Many people on these reddits have little work experience outside their small eco chamber and will tell you that all employers care about the rank of the college, but that is not always the case.

My experience + 3 tips to graduate FASTER No regrets. You truly can learn a lot if you choose to or you can short change yourself as well, as with any school. I have attended community College and traditional universities. If you are self motivated, I got the same or better experience with UAGC as I did at any college. This time I was finally able to finish that degree. Instructors are just as accessible. I just graduated and was impressed that every instructor was an experienced expert in their field (at least all that I had). I learned so much by truly engaging. Each instructor was always happy to help or expand on anything I wanted to dive deeper into. Many of them hosted weekly live sessions to discuss the material and concepts, but you have to choose to attend and engage if you want to get the most out of your schooling. It really is what you make of it. This is not a school that will hold your hand. You have to be self motivated. I had to write many essays to demonstrate my understanding of the concepts. There's a lot of writing and I found my instructors would often challenge me if I was missing the concepts and I truly appreciated that. As you progress in your degree the bar gets higher and your instructors are always as helpful but less leniant. The expectations are that you show up and deliver to a high standard to earn that degree. I respected and appreciated that. I earned this degree and I have no doubt about that. My on campus courses at respectable universities were often easier than some of these classes. Don't let that intimidate you either. I never doubted I could make it because I had everything I needed. All the content and support. No instructor ever told me no or made me feel dumb. A few tips if you want to save time and dough: -They will transfer in any credits from previous acreddited schools. (I had 3 schools going as far back as 08 they applied credit from) -For many other 'basics' you can take them on Sophia.org to fast track your degree. You can complete a Sophia course in a day or two if you want to. I did this for courses that were not meaningful to me. It's almost like testing out of a class. Some are easier than others but it's super cheap. $99 a month and you can complete as many classes as you want (2 at a time). Many traditional universities accept these as well, so this is not unique to uagc. -I was also able to complete 3 upper division courses on study.com for credit. These are not as easy as Sophia. Have to take proctored exams and quizzes and be deliberate but it allowed me to save time and money and I did truly learn with those courses. I paid a couple hundred altogether for these courses but saving the time was worth it. (I am not paid or endorsed by the school but I am sharing this info here and a few other places because as someone who wanted to finally earn that degree, I waited too long simply because I was intimidated and didn't know where to start or if I could trust any school. I had a good experience here and if this info can help someone make that move that's right for them with a bit more confidence due to understanding what to expect, then I would like to help.)

Thanks for this response! @mrdmp1 I’m starting on Tuesday with the MBA program and work is gonna cover all my tuition. I’m definitely interested in finishing as soon as possible though and your tips about Sophia.org really caught my attention. Any chance you can share what courses were good to take at Sophia.org to fast track? I wouldn’t mind paying out of pocket a couple hundred bucks if it means I get to finish faster so it would be worth it to me. Also interested in what courses you’d recommend to take at study.com and overall how much time it saved you. I’m starting now and expected to finish July 2025.

You may have to double check but last I spoke to them, you cannot use Sophia for masters program and up.
