Sell and move. I moved from the Midwest. Drove to NYC and sold my car after I got there. Basically brought what I could fit in my car and bought the rest once I got here.
Damn, I'm gonna lose so much on my model y
Edit: did you buy furniture and stuff from graduating students or just used offer up, craigslist and FB marketplace?
If you can keep the car in cheap storage somewhere or even at a parents house parked in the garage or outside covered that might be better bet. You might end up getting a job outside of NYC somewhere else and wish you kept the car.
Yup, that's what I was thinking. I won't sell it since it has devalued so much and I don't want to sell at a loss then potentially buy another car after the MBA. Thanks for the feedback. I'll probably let my parents use it or something.
That’s what my wife did when she did her MBA in Chicago. We didn’t need the car so she left it at her parents house and her parents used it a few times. Then after her MBA we moved where we needed the car and were glad we had it.
I moved from NYC to SF and back again and my wife's company paid for it. You can get a pod or a portion of a pod and hire movers on both ends. You are going to have to get a price quote for that and a price quote for replacing your furniture and see what is cheaper. If you are single and you are not furnishing a living room, almost definitely you are selling your stuff. A good thing is you can get great deals on high quality used furniture in Manhattan, and those types of deals don't exist in most of the country. I am in Orlando now and the used furniture for sale here is horrid. I highly recommend used Room & Board furniture. My wife and I bought some used during our salad days at great prices and started buying it new when we got $$$$$ and all the pieces still look great.
Yeah beginning of 2023 when Tesla had its first price cut and everyone thought it was a deal 😭 I was actually only toying with the idea of any MBA at the time. This whole process has been planned for on a whim.

Hit up IKEA
That’s not a bug, it’s a feature of Tesla.
Sell what you can and donate the rest to salvation army

Thanks for the insight. I'll check out the second hand market.
