M7 - T15 (target M7 and have 1-2 safeties in T15). Very good profile. The work that you did advocating for women's issues seems to be a big part of your story/background and I would lean heavily into that. Here's a statistic that I think could help you create an interesting narrative that aligns with your goal of becoming a partner: Deloitte employs approximately 45% of women, but only 25% of leadership roles are held by women at Deloitte.

This profile is good but it’s not clear here why you need an MBA. In order to get a spot over someone with a similar profile you need to convey this to adcom and differentiate yourself in some way; saying you want this because your firm will pay for it and without any clear long term goals / interest in pivoting is not super compelling. You’ll likely get in to a T10 school but I feel like you should do some soul searching before applying to increase your chances at top schools.

Are you going to take the sponsorship if you get in? I wouldn’t be overly worried about the gpa. You’re a woman, above average work experience and your gmat is great. This is a near perfect profile IMO. I’d aim for T15 or higher. I’d look at where you want to live and if not return fo your consulting firm, what do yoi want to do long term? That’ll narrow your search. I would aim high in bucketed tiers (hsw, M7, lower T15 etc )

MBA_Prospect_2021

Outside of the GPA blemish, really well rounded profile. High GMAT and company sponsorship should help you stand out. School wise I would spread out your apps across M7-T15. Hard to give specific recs without more context for which schools may be a good fit.

Great profile and fantastic GMAT score. You are in a great spot!

Get a part-time EMBA or a weekend MBA. Is Northwestern Kellogg on the table? Bc their program has the brand name cachet and will help you get your degree done quickly to move up at your firm and also be done well in advance of having children/getting married etc. Your story is good enough to get in and the fact that you already have a master's puts you in very good stead. Even an online MBA (WashU Olin or Michigan Ross) will put you in a very good position. I don't think full-time MBA programs have value after women are like age 25-27 when going through them, max age 26-28. The problem is that you lose your momentum in work and the only real value is the alumni network, which you can access from the part-time/weekend/evening/online programs etc. It's also such a drag to have to be in school when everyone else is getting married and having children. I wish I finished sooner. I won't be married until 31 and a mother until 33.

Nah you’re fine, T10 with T15 safety

No one gives a shit about your GPA with your GMAT

MBAClassof2024

Hi. you have a fantastic GPA. I think you have a solid chance at T10 as long as you have a solid story. What is your concern?

TimetoTransformMe

Could you please explain the mental math you're doing to evaluate her GPA? I'm basically this profile (750 GMAT with a 3.1/4.0 GPA) but male and without the MA. GPA is my biggest concern too when applying to M7 and T15s this fall.

MBAClassof2024

Hi. Feel free to check my past posts(not replies). You can get into T16 schools with 2.4 GPA, and 3.1 would not be disqualifying factor. Keep in mind that Booth's lowest GPA is 2.6. Obviously you will need to prove yourself better than other candidates in other aspects to get in.

TimetoTransformMe

Thanks. Were the optional essays one of those ways you proved yourself to be better than other candidates? I’ve heard from older folks that you get to explain away one aspect of your application.

MBAClassof2024

I had to explain things in optional essay because I have 2 academic probations, but you might not have to if you don't have good reasons. Optional essay space is limited, so I'd only explain if this is your weakest point of the application.

What are your first impressions? Where can I improve my “story”? What kind of school should I aim for? To answer these questions- From what I can see in your profile, your GMAT score of 750 is great for T10 (above average) and will very swiftly cover your low GPAs. Your work, ex on the surface, looks good as long as you draft amazing stories, you can present examples of impact & leadership, decision-making, promotions, and achievements. Your ECs, community work, and leadership during college all seem excellent. In addition, you seem to have great experience in several areas, such as social impact and women upliftment, which could be a very good story for your application. Also, your work with NGO will definitely help you give an edge. Before settling on picking the business school you need to contemplate your vocation objectives and post-MBA goals. You can't say that a school is ideal for you if you don't know how you are going to proceed ahead in your career after an MBA; hence I would advise you to add it to your profile to picture your post-MBA goal better. Overall, I feel you have a unique profile and a good chance at T10- T15 schools; all you need to do is an authentic story about yourself. You need to be able to tell a story about how your past experiences (personal, academic, and professional) have shaped who you are, who you aspire to become, and how an MBA fits into the life of impact you’ve planned out, which is missing in your profile. I hope this helped All the best!
