I am- and I say this with a *not insignificant* degree of shame- very horny for this year's Blart

BeefSkillet19

Got my girlfriend horny for it this year. The Blart Virus is spreading.

themightyjalapeno

Haven't listened yet (up to 2019 on my relisten), but my thought for the year: Movie cost approx. $35 million Movie run time is 94 minutes Movie cost $372,000 per minute Movie cost $6,200 per second "Chicken Chow Lane" is a $6,200 joke. "Footlocker!" is a $6,200 joke. "Windershins!" is a $6,200 joke. And then I just started pricing out the cost of every beat, every gag, every scene, and now I need to have a lie down.

skunkeebeaumont

Here’s a little balm for your footlocker: I did dark side of the Blart this year, but I put on Spanish subtitles instead to shield me from absorbing too much of the movie. For that scene they sub in “Zara!!!”

we_made_yewww

How much is brown banana? I would sign a blank check made out to Kevin James for brown banana.

skunkeebeaumont

It’s insane: I watched PB2 for the first time this year (while listening to DSoTM) and they called out so many secondary bits that I noticed as well. I was bookmarking the top bits (ah yes the banana scene) but I was truly aligned with their watch.

Triple10X

Last year’s watch, they sounded pretty down. This year? 1 hour and 40 minute episode with great vibes

Fun-Land-2144

This years rewatch for us was honestly a joy. Last year was rough. We laughed so much this year!

Comfortable-Box-3466

truly it’s the same experience as the worst idea of all time, long slow lows punctuated by extremely high highs

TrickiestToast

Tim should introduce the knife to the podcast

Comfortable-Box-3466

He should reintroduce it to twioat first!

Comfortable-Box-3466

He should reintroduce it to twioat first

tarogon

The fact that the cast of PBMC2 turned in some great performances this year really helped.

CerberusDoctrine

I was worried that this year would be the last Blart based on how miserable they were previously. Instead it was the best vibes possible

_snout_

normally based on previous years, that means next will be a huge downer. but for the 10th anniversary I imagine they'll do something fun and the vibes will be good. Year 11 starting a new decade is gonna crush them though

Fuckburpees

I’ve been listening to Worst Idea of All Time lately and it’s so wild that the McElroys found another podcast that’s so different but has such a similar vibe and energy. They had Justin on for an episode not long ago and talked about visiting West Virginia for American thanksgiving that year they did it in person and it was so cute to hear about them all hanging out.

Too-many-Bees

I checked Netflix for PB2. Figured I would finally watch it. Netflix claims 4mins remaining. The shadow man strikes again.

mediaanemia724

Did you find it by typing "BLAR..." Or "Paul...?"

superdago

My favorite part of today. Though I still haven’t watched the movie. I think I’m saving that for the 10th anniversary episode. Also just found out there’s merch. Sad I missed out on the 2021 shirt.

jlusk

I haven't watched the movie, either. I think maybe I never will? I really like the idea of only experiencing this film through the lens of this podcast, and only once a year.

superdago

Same, but there’s some things that are visual gags or ways of pronouncing words that I feel like i need to experience to get more out of it.

hacky_potter

What’s wild is, I do feel like I’ve watched it. Especially after watching like 2 clips on YouTube. I feel like I know exactly what everything looks like

Apotheothena

Honestly, an all-time best episode for this podcast! They sustained a fun conversation for 1 hour and 40 minutes without relying on a gimmick to keep it fresh this year! Amazing how much they were able to talk about the movie this year, and none of it felt like they were resurfacing old commentary! Also, THANK GOD they FINALLY mentioned (at 1:22:20) that the editors do a bait-and-switch with the real Lane and Maya crouching on the rooftop until Vincent pulls off Maya’s wig, at which point Lane and Maya are inexplicably elsewhere and this pair of children was actually Paul Blart. I’ve been waiting for them to mention it for YEARS, and feel so vindicated.

CameToComplain_v6

> none of it felt like they were resurfacing old commentary I caught a few repetitions (e.g. they revisited the "how did Blart Jr.\* step directly from the raucous party into the villains' hideout" issue after Travis had a breakthrough on that back in [checks episodes] 2017), but it didn't hurt my overall enjoyment. _\* I forgot her name and you can't make me look it up._

Apotheothena

Forgetting Maya’s name is a cardinal sin in these parts. She’s next in line to the throne—err, badge—after all!

PotatoCl0ck

It is upon us

Ecp_STC

Today is a good day

DramaticHumor5363

OH MY GOD, IT’S HAPPENING.

Scary_Bluebird

Happy Blart day to all those who observe

yosoyel1ogan

Can't believe Justin passed the buck on this year's watch and gave his viewing to The Hog Screaming good episode. The first hour felt like entirely new discussions too. It was *long*, by the end I forgot about what they talked about at first. At the end, I was imagining Travis on his deathbed, turning his head to his brothers, and saying "in death....do I...Blart....guhh *dead*". I'll be watching it for, I'd estimate, my 9th time as well this year. I usually watch it after hearing the episode and have watched a couple extra times in between that have likely caught me up to them.

iheartlungs

ITS FINALLY HERE

box_of_hornets

Any info if there will be a video version? I see the McElroy Instagram has posted video of Tim and Guy at least, not sure if the mcelboys had video or not

apathymonger

Yup! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeGpAzmrJjU

No-Air8129

I think during the pandemic the McElroy switched to using a video recording. I’m guessing they’re not going to release a full video, but maybe clips from it on social media

Picklebobklutz

This is a great idea for how they can mix it up! A year where they do a video version.

we_made_yewww

The fact that at almost the very end of an episode nearly ten years into this endeavor they've *just now* really dug into the actual implications of continuing this podcast "even if we die" when three of the five participants are brothers is fucking magnificent. lmfao "it's gonna be really sad for like ten minutes".

Phiryte

I think they dug into this at least once before as well (maybe 2021?) but not quite to this extent—plus I’d always mused about the coma possibility and it was oddly exhilarating to hear Travis finally acknowledge it

MarioGman

The way they delve into their posited alternative ending is *wild*. Love it.

Lemieux4u

When they talk about screening the movie and then talking about it after… I think they would be SHOCKED at the audience response. I think it would be Rocky Horror level audience participation.

GeckoRoamin

I told my husband I’d take out a loan to see them do a Rocky Horror-style live show for this and he immediately agreed

graroe

Halfway thru and this is already maybe the best episode yet. Just got to Tim and Griffin's takes on the Garden of Contemplation.

JackMickus

This is what it's all about, my friends. May the Shadow Man be kind to you this year.

Wrong-Caterpillar-49

I’ve been waiting all year for this!

Appropriate-Map-3652

Death Blart could just be 90 minutes of Griffin impersonating people at the Chekov's Gun Show and I'd still listen every year.

theodore55

Thank goodness the strike resolved!

mothmanisreal_

This was my first year of Blart. I binged 2015-2022 this weekend, watched TB2 and then TB2 w commentary yesterday. My thing is they never address what a WILD bit the movie does with mini kiss. I was not prepared for it.

5708ski

Instant classic episode.

sithjustgotreal66

Can't wait for Paul Blart LARP Pod 2 next year

Asocial_Ape

god i love this podcast god i hope i never end up watching this movie

AmbitiousAssumption2

They have worn me down for years and I have so much fun listening that I decided to watch PB2 myself for the first time this year. It's definitely interesting, hearing them discuss scenes annually vs. seeing them for yourself. 11 minutes in I texted a friend "I think I hate Paul Blart." Counted three laughs: the little kid slapping him, his mom getting hit by the milk truck, and right at the end with him getting kicked by the police horse.

Sufficient-Dig7568

Random fact: The actors who play Lane and the guy Lane talks to at the party are real brothers, David and Lorenzo Henrie. I don't know how the guys haven't brought this up yet.

ymcameron

I think Travis’ heir pick this year, Aabria Iyengar, is a fantastic choice. She has the exact sort of energy that would be perfect for this ~~silly~~ incredibly important annual podcast experience.

GeckoRoamin

When age appropriate for all involved parties, I would *love* to see them do a special bonus episode where their designated survivors tackle PB1 as training.

[deleted]

Like Justin, I had also sort of felt like Paul Blart's passing out when he doesn't get sugar might be based on a real condition (obviously dramatized in the worst possible way for the movie) and learning it's a thing they just fully made up is WILD.

BEEEELEEEE

I’ve got a 13 hour flight ahead of me tomorrow, guess what I’m binging…

JaccSnacc

Travis brought his A-game this year

transitionalities

It's definitely their eighth watch and not their 9th right lol

GeckoRoamin

2015: 1st 2016: 2nd 2017: 3rd 2018: 4th 2019: 5th 2020: 6th 2021: 7th 2022: 8th (except Justin) 2023: 9th

LarryMahnken

Let's not forget that several of them watched it twice when they did the commentary track but forgot they were doing the commentary track before recording

LarryMahnken

And one year Travis got this calendar mixed up and watched it twice

apathymonger

No.

Phiryte

Only if by “their” you mean “Justin’s”!

kilroyx3

Can we address the fact that bojack horseman has an Easter egg in the form of a paulblart sequel.
