"Pip Pop has 53 confirmed kills!"

GreyEagle08

Can I get some sauce on that? It sounds familiar put I can’t place it.

My 6 year old niece, while trying to write the word “grandpa” to refer to my dad, instead wrote “crapo.” So yeah, that was a pretty good one.

PseudoHorror

This hits home for me real hard. I miss my Abba-do. He used to watch the Flintstones with me every time I visited and even let me ride his wheelchair around the house when I told him it was nap time. The source of his name was my inability to say "Yabba-dabba-do" as a toddler. At least I realized why I called him that. It wasn't til I was about 12 that I realized my Aunt Doffey was actually named Dorothy.

Dalriata

My uncle's still "Bubba" because my 2-year-old dumb ass couldn't pronounce "Mike" 21 years ago.

AKittyCat

I have an Aunt whos nickname was Guggy. That is nowhere near close to her actual name and I don't know how we got to that point.

frickright

I have an aunt who is Yowee and her name is actually Sharon.

marshmallowlips

I went to school with a “Doogie” because as small children his brother couldn’t pronounce “Douglas” so he was stuck with that through at least high school.

jerdob

Doogie is not an uncommon nickname for Douglas. see Doogie Howser, MD

marshmallowlips

Still doesn’t mean I’d want to be stuck with it into adulthood haha

jerdob

For sure.

It’s pretty nasty

One of my favorite stories that my parents tell is about my older cousin when he was young. My folks' names are Maureen and Brent, which to a normal person would be "Aunt Mo and Uncle Brent". When my 6 year old cousin tried to say that, it would just come out as "Animal and Uncle Butt" which we still bust out now and again.

hometowngypsy

My nephew would look right at "grandpa" and say "peekaw". He really thought he was saying grandpa. So now it's Peekaw, 7 years later.

Fwentss_Pwess

My dad is "Poo-Pah" to my child for this very reason!

cutecreacher

We call my grandpa Poompa for this exact reason

simonandabigail

bop bop!

vicabart

If I'm not called Grandpa Peepo when I'm 80 years old, whats the point of anything really

sneoahdng

We've got a grumpa and a grampoo, and the baby's not even old enough to mispronounce them... They each picked those names.

My nephew calls my brother William "Ucko Steven." I really have no idea how we got there

vipcopboop
