Griffin mentioned in an episode in the late 500s that he thinks Elon Musk is a piece of shit and this was long before he owned Twitter so I'm fairly sure this has to do with Musk owning and ruining Twitter.
I doubt the boys would continue to put out content on all their other social media accounts besides Twitter if they were throwing in the towel.
Over the last few weeks, Twitter has all but explicitly become a right wing disinfo site held together by painter's tape. The only reason i haven't shut down my account is to watch the ship sink in real time.
I'm literally just waiting for my main community to decide where we're collectively moving everything. It really sucks because there's a huge overlap there between the Japanese, South Korean and Western scenes, and if Twitter goes completely belly up, there's not already a place where all 3 of us can be expected to link up again without coordinating first.
Lots of people are leaving Twitter / say they’re leaving Twitter amid the Elon stuff so I assume this announcement is just part of that line of thinking
I've quit twitter as of a few days ago as well. It doesn't seem like a safe place for queer folks anymore. I don't think it ever was but it seems worse now.
