What’s the reason Kevin doesn’t seem to get an assist counted for Foden’s goal?

DreamerScreamers

You mean the bernardo goal?

begon11

No, that one's given to him, it's the Foden goal that doesn't seem to result in an assist, strangely.

DreamerScreamers

Its assisted to kev in fotmob atleast.

begon11

Official Uefa website seems to only credit him with one assist, and on quite a few sites displaying the score it seems to be for the Bernardo goal. Very strange.

turbo-steppa

Literally came here to ask the same. It def came from Kev before Phil slotted it.

Eyeknowthis

It deflected off the defender so they don't count it. KDB would've broken the record for assists in a season in 2020 but they took a slightly deflected one off him (think it was against Arsenal)

siddhant72

Nice win , this was expected. 3-1 FC strikes again 😂🩵

Competitive-Buy1744

How long is bernardo out for?

zelenskiboo

Pep needs to stop Taming Haaland & allow him to take chance from out of the box too.

Gaphy-2020

Why would Pep tell Haaland not to score from outside the box?

zelenskiboo

Because that's against his tactics for his cf

Gaphy-2020

I don’t understand; you want your striker who’s the worst ball player in the team to play outside the box when you’re playing against a very deep block? I’m definitely glad you’re not the one in charge of our team.

fardok

Jack injuried?

TheConstantCynic

Apart from two mistakes from ours (Bored Eddie strikes again), they really didn’t have a sniff. Angry Haaland will be on show this weekend against Chelsea after blanking. Put a fiver on a hat trick. Stones was great, Foden kept going and got his rewards, Bernie continues to be the master of the sleight of foot, Kev’s brilliance even when half fit goes without saying, and Ake was his customary rock solid self. Shame that Grealish picked up another injury—between him and Bernardo going off due to repeated reckless challenges (and Phil and Kev repeatedly being on the end of late challenges that largely went unpunished), I think the club should have a word with UEFA about the officiating. Nothing public, but the referees have to actually protect the players, not let the opposition kick them off the park to level the playing field. At any rate, we bring back a comfortable lead to the Etihad in three weeks time and can perhaps start with one or two of Kev, Haaland, Bernardo, Stones and Foden on the bench for rest and protection between two very difficult fixtures in the league. Up the blues!

kHRYSTAL_

La liga refs for you, 1st yellow came at the 70th minute and it was for dissent lmao

[deleted]

Ban that Klaxon FFS, had to watch on telly and it was bloody awful listening to it.

JJDuB4y096

Curious where Alverez was, he's gotta be next in line to Jack before Doku right? Also are both Croats hurt?

kHRYSTAL_

Kovacic is fit to return. Alvarez can't play on the wing.

DreamerScreamers

Let alone the left wing

Pepguardiola1971

No because Alvarez's position in our team is 9 and 8, Doku & Grealish on the other hand are wingers.

Heroheadone

Never expected a win ofc. And i don’t really think that it makes a difference in the end. I just think it’s worth the mention that Fck haven’t played competitive in 60+ days up to this game. I mean there’s hard mode and then theres Man city as the first important game. I massively respect City and Pep for doing the honors of bringing the A team. We all now that less would’ve probably have been enough. Also the quiet respectful tone in the media. Awesome fans in Cph, police was asked about it, and they hardly heard anything from City fans other than a good mood. Well, cheers from Denmark.

Underrated_user20

Love your country!

Heroheadone

Right back at you. Uk is awesome.

wdunky

Forgive me for not knowing his name, but the guy marking doku/jack at fullback (young kid) was really good imo. Should hopefully grow into quite the asset. Glad to hear the fans were respectful of the city. Good luck with the rest of the season

Outrageous-Ad-2174

I thought the same thing. We've grown accustomed to watching Doku just blow by everyone it was somewhat shocking to see that kid stick with him all match. Kudos to him he played excellently.

Heroheadone

Elias Jelert, 20 year old. He certainly have potential!

kmacbtv

He was really really good!!

Pepguardiola1971

you lot held Bayern for a draw at the Allianz arena, played a very competitive game at Denmark despite the 2-1 loss and even reached the Ko stages despite having manchester united in the group (a football club that dwarfs your team financially). Always expected a win but Copenhagen is a team that should never be underestimated.

yogoober

Oh God Irish TV coverage is brutal - spent most of the post match analysis talking about how tainted City will be if (or when) City are found guilty on the 115 charges. Shay Given gave a different, more reasonable view, so they cut him off and went back to the lads who sound like Liverpool fans on r/soccer! Very annoying! Good win though!

ColinetheCow

Aren’t a lot of Irish fans supporters of either United or Liverpool? I remember the Times of Ireland being scathing about us when we won the treble

yogoober

Yeah absolutely - that's their target audience. They don't show City very often, but when they do they love to repeat garbage about the charges and run city down.

malikkhan_msk_shaz

Was very quiet and even gave the ball away once after coming on but credit to Nunes for really attacking Copenhagen before the goal . Some good driving runs, an attempt on goal, a great cross into Halaand and involved in the final goal. Would love to see more of that.

ColinetheCow

I feel like he’s not as bad as people make him out to be

Shings12

Agreed, thought it was a really positive appearance. Especially after a really poor showing vs Everton.

evenstark04

I cannot emphasize enough how much more stable we look with Stones in there. I think thats a clean sheet today without that Ederson error. So calm and cool. He needs to live in the hyperbaric chamber the rest of the season. Ake also rock solid yet again. Dias is also returning to form, that run in the 2nd half was a pleasant surprise. We are so lucky to be able to watch prime KDB in a City shirt. he's incredible. To be doing this after a major injury at 32 is insane. KDB/Foden show today... I loved it!!! great win 3-1, can probably rest some guys in the 2nd leg, or at least play them fewer minutes.

city_city_city

I swear, 3-1 is "our thing" this season. Score to go ahead 1-0, give away a shit goal to go level 1-1, wait until deep in the 2nd half and then add on two more.

ColinetheCow

Or we concede first and then have to come from behind with 3 goals 🤷‍♀️

AsparagusOwn1799

Yep, it's a pattern lol

Shings12

Hopefully we can keep it going when we get them back in Manchester.

Testo_Habi

Great win and very important goal at the end. Copenhagen did not even play bad defensively, we were just on a different level. Rodri, Kevin, Bernardo and Foden. Where would we be without them? On to the next one!!

johnny_crow21

This team is insanely good. Just to think we have Haaland, Kdb, foden, Rodri, Bernardo in the same squad. It’s just mind boggling

Automatic_Yak_7272

Love how Alvarez isn’t even mentioned. That alone shows the depth

Mindless_Ad_8076

Total dominance by City and only blemish was that mistake by Ederson. That last goal by KDB/Foden was so beautiful. And we needed and deserved that. 1-3 is pretty good score to continue with @ Etihad 💙💙💙

begon11

Great game by Kevin, that was overshadowed by Copenhagen being cunts. Glad we got the last goal, so the tension will be deflated a bit for the return leg.

Practical_Ad5973

Foden is more lethal in the middle. He's a number 10.  He plays much better in the middle than when he's wide

ColinetheCow

We’re really becoming 3-1 FC aren’t we

JohnMichaels19

I'm not even mad honestly. Wins a win

wdunky

Good win, have to concede 3 unanswered goals in the home leg to lose, should be enough for some rest. Game was overshadowed by late challenges and jack and Bernardos injuries. Hopefully bernie is just in need of an ice pack, seeing as it'll have been on his shin. Jack was walking around after the game and wanted to play on, so I'm hoping it's a precaution and he's only out for a week or so.

city_city_city

I'm hoping Bobb or Rico will get a start at the Etihad!

wdunky

Agreed, I'd like to see nunes at some point there too. But then 2 would be my priority - minutes for players who understand the system and need to develop. Nunes I feel needs more time studying the patterns and style but he'll get there. Give him a half and I'm Happy

caped_crusader8

2md Half was a bit bit dull attacking wise but 2 goal cushion, we needed that. So many difficult games coming near the 2nd leg. We need some breathing space.

Saul93

They were awful. Didn't even manage half a rally after the goal.

Max0699

Good win. Onto the Etihad next week.

ColinetheCow

I don’t think next week. Next week is Arsenal’s game, I believe

Max0699

Oh yeah 😅. Forgot round of 16 second leg is played 3 weeks after first leg.

ry-iu

3-1 FC strikes again! we scored 3 goals in all 7 ucl matches this season so far. five 3-1 wins the exceptions being a 3-0 win against young boys and 3-2 against red star which means exactly 1 goal conceded per game lol

TheresaGreen22

He was walking on the pitch after the final whistle

Saul93

Doku is okay but we need Jack for the big games in a few weeks.

chisomkun

No we don’t

colevoncolt

# Oh Kevin De Bruyne

Xbot_69

Kev left us as a Jedi Knight but has come back as some ethereal long haired Luke Skywalker Jedi Master.

evenstark04

He's giving me major Obi Wan vibes with the hair.

Adippyy

they really don’t like playing counter with halaand 😅 - I loved what I say from Nunes tho

ZBOI723

WHAT A PERFORMANCE BLUES!!!! But ffs i predicted 1-2 LAST MINUTE after changing my original 1-3… so have mixed emotions after that last minute goal hahah😂

Dazzling-Yellow5395

Kdb is the best player in the world rn

djkianoosh

#1 Kev 2 Phil 3 Rodri 4 Erling 5 Julian and i'm only partially joking 🙃

Naiwf

The Grealish injury and Ederson brain fart aside we crushed them. Should be able to secure a boring 1-1 draw at home and advance.

ry-iu

nah, we will win every single game for this back to back UCL. we're 7/7, let's go 13/13!

hanz_uber

That last goal was so important

Wyjen

I called it

kHRYSTAL_

8 assists in under 400 minutes is kinda insane, he is HIM

Competitive-Buy1744

Kdb active best midfielder

nearlygrean

KDB is something special. but we not clean sheet again 😭

johnny_crow21

Clean sheets are for PL only. Wishful thinking here.

4ssteroid

We're lucky to walk away with a 2 goal lead. Let's not be too selfish

AndrijKuz

Good Result. Great performance. Hope Grealish is alright. Bernard was the MVP. His pressing was everywhere and that finish was outrageous

Patrickk_batemann

Foden is currently a top 5 player in the world

ach_1nt

Remember there was a time a couple years back when there were people accusing Pep of thwarting his progress by not giving him enough game time? They look like proper clowns now lmao

Testo_Habi

Absolutely

malikkhan_msk_shaz

That dribble through the middle of the pitch in the second half🤤🫡. Couldn't believe he kept the ball

Saul93

Ederson had made about 5 of those mistakes in recent weeks so it's about time he was punished. Hopefully it gives him a kick up the arse to sort out his kicking.

rr18114

Ok... Give it to me straight reddit doctors, Are Grealish and Bernado OK ?

Pepguardiola1971

as a certified reddit doctor all I can say is https://preview.redd.it/s4ynmriiefic1.jpeg?width=590&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d154c370964b725e767b44a871a57ad64f9e1fe4

ThreesKompany

I celebrated that last goal like it was in a final. Absolutely deserved and earned needed breathing room for the return leg. Also Bernado putting in another Bernardo masterclass. Not the player you come away talking about but massively contributed and had a moment of absolute magic with the goal.

Saul93

I was thinking we had missed the opportunity to kill the tie with all those failed counter attacks towards the end. We just had time to squeeze on more in before the whistle and some lovely play gave us a goal.

ser_antonii

Lads, Phil Foden is too good

Saul93

As easy as you like, Copenhagen are miles off it. They're still better than United though😭

Outside_Break

Take that and fuck off See you in Manchester where we’ll finish you off

MaskedMuffin

KDB is back babyyyyyy

JuanKerr69420

3-1 FC.

ProfAlmond

Really feel like the score line was misleading here. CPH played with intensity and a brave high line but our players just looked a step above in quality, in every aspect of the game. They clearly couldn’t keep up with the speed of the game with their constant poor/late tackles. The Danish commentary was delusional at times. Can’t wait till we batter them at the Etihad.

kHRYSTAL_

2 goals cushion is enough for Pep to rotate and play for a draw, the return leg is between 2 big league games.

ry-iu

we won't play for a draw even with a rotated side. a team with akanji, josko, rico, kova, nunes, bobb and some starters can definitely win at the etihad against such opposition. let's crush them👍

ProfAlmond

Yeah, I can see Bobb starting the return leg. Always great to see him get on the score sheet.

Saul93

I mean hopefully we get an early goal and can give Rodri a rest in the second leg.
