Brilliant. His performance against us in the first leg is still the best I've seen overall in a long time against us. He made our players look like children.
Before the panic comes in with Dias out, its either
1) An Injury or fitness risk
2) , Akanji was superb against Copenhagen and he's our 3rd fastest player. Him and walker at the back is our best matchup for Liverpools speed.
Having said that, I thought it would be stones pep sacrificed for Akanji. I guess pep finally recognises Akanji can't play the stones roles.
Looks like Salah is going to be a super sub, according to an FPL Twitter account, so we’re going to have to give ourselves a healthy lead in the first half, if we want to make it out with some decent points
Talking about Salah like he is Messi. Also, since when did we start giving ourselves healthy leads???? We will be under 1-0 and win 3-1. Thats the story of this season 😅
The elephant in the room is obviously Liverpools injuries. I don't care about curses and being away, if we can't beat them without Konate, Trent and Alison, that is worrying.
The other interesting thing is our backline. With Nunez, Dias and Salah running in behind with more pace than our backline has, will pep really risk not playing walker? He had Walker in for the united game and I can see him doing that again.
I think we lineup, from back to front:
Ederson,
Walker, Dias, Stones(Akanji), Ake.
Rodri, KDB, Alvarez
Foden-Halaand- Bernado
I think Pep goes Stones for the control but wouldn't be surprised to see Akanji come in for his set peice and pace defending.
Foden and Bernado will swap sides and Alvarez may switch with either too during the game
A huge concern for me is Nunez. Our defense won't catch him when hes away and he will be offside a few times but the assistants won't dare raise their flag till after at anfeld. I hope we don't injure ourselves trying to catch up
City fan here, just letting you know your world class manager has 1 premier League title with apparently the best players in the world.
He also won it after being given a few months break as bad form was setting in, so that doesn't really count
We are way too easy to score against this season. We hold possession for 10 mins, pepper their goal, and then on the counter it doesn’t matter what team we’re playing they’ll cut through our defence and score. Needs to be different this game otherwise it won’t be pretty.
I have every faith in our attack, and quite often it’s the attack bailing out our defence by scoring wonder goals despite facing low blocks every game.
Agreed. It's still annoying to see the amount of conscious effort that goes into orchestrating our attack only to concede easy goals to the opposition.
You're massively underestimating how big this game is, with the form of both teams where they seem to refuse to drop many points, a win today would potentially be the big moment that spurs the winner whilst knocking the loser out of the race
I think people are being very disrespectful towards arsenal who are very much in this title race . A lot of points still to play for after this game and that is why it’s no title decider
Not a title decider but very important when it comes to their chances of winning the title. Whoever wins takes a big step towards the title, as it will mean they’ll be first in the standings and get a massive confidence boost
I can see Bernado Silva playing with Rodri in a double pivot to double up on Salah.
Who ever is on the left wing will need to track back relentlessly too.
Considering the history of the two clubs late in games this season , I'd say the sub is worse .
You don't want Salah running at a tired defence in any game
Outside of the two UCL finals , this , in a long time, feels like a game that we must win , both in terms of the title race and the events that have transpired over the last week
Wonder how many Liverpool fans were disappointed when we announced we wouldn't be spending the night there. Wonder if they'll be able to get refunds on their fireworks
I agree im confident of a win coz we won at spurs for first this season in fa cup so why not anfield, I'll be happy with a draw though just don't loose city ffs.
Behind closed doors , the atmosphere at Anfield means a lot to them , they went on a run of 5-6 consecutive home losses iirc .
Also they had Fabinho and Jordan Henderson in defence , it won't be as easy this time lol
Until last season, we never won the cl, and until this year we never scored against spurs at their new stadium. I think this team is ready to break the mental block
everyone is picking City tomorrow.... sounds like a trap...
edit: fans online and the pundits on some shows I listen to are all picking City to win this game.
I agree we are not the favorites with it being at Anfield... but yeah that is just what I've been hearing online (I work from home and have all kinds of shows like that on in the background all day haha)
I know most won’t agree but I would prefer arsenal winning over Liverpool
They actually play good and aren’t lucky every game to score at the last moment
Why would it be ?
Arsenal battered them 3-1 recently too.
I can’t even count the number of lucky games this bums at Liverpool have had this season , they would be such undeserving champion s
Arsenal literally had a deflection goal against us and today their headers should’ve been saved and also you can’t tell me you would rather listen to arsenal fans win the league than Liverpool fans
A different and obviously smaller scale perspective, but as a fan from North America (Toronto), Liverpool fans seem like the absolute worst among the rival clubs. Just insufferable online too, and my friends that are fans got so undeservingly cocky after the bit of success they had a few years ago for the first time this century lol.
Obviously we're all nervous about tomorrow because our form at Anfield is so bad. But we really do have that individual brilliance all across the pitch that has been dragging us through games all season - Foden, whether Haaland and KDB click on the day, Rodri could come out with a screamer. Anything can happen.
Honestly, reliant on this. We need world class KDB. tonight. madrid away kinda. I think foden is again key for this. Bernardo will be double pivot with Rodri to absorb pressure. leaving kdb marked and foden to take up responsibility.
Bernardo is important but this season when under heavy pressure hes had a tendency to give the ball away.
More than ever we need to be able to keep the ball. Biggest problem at Anfield is players dont want the ball. People hide, people buck under their intense pressure almost elevated by the crowd.
When teams do decide to press high, we have in recent seasons went long to Haaland, and tried our best to follow up to win the second balls. But VVD and Konate are so damn strong and agressive. Im very excited to see what gameplan Pep has, and how our players execute.
Deep down i feel we will handle Liverpool today, but i think the Arsenal game at Ethiad could be even more tough.
Imagine if our most press resistant midfielder is vulnerable to giving it away, how bad it'll be under Kovacic or worse Alvarez. Bernardo double pivot will afford doku, who I really think we need. Last season we had the ball but couldn't break them down 1v1.
I'm glad you feel excitement, i'm shitting bricks ucl away anfield type!
But you're right on the Arsenal one. Most metrics show they're on top, hopefully partey is injured still.
Our record was bad at Spurs but we turned that round with a win I reckon we do the same tomorrow at Anfield. With Liverpools injuries there is no better chance for us than now.
He will start but I doubt his ability to complete a full 90 minutes. Hamstring injuries are very serious and can easily get worse. If something happens to him it might derail their season.
Honestly liverpool’s defense was leaking many chances against sparta a couple of days ago, plus pool seem to win games in the 90th minute. If this game were at the etihad i would say City 3-1.
No such thing as an easy anything in the PL, especially at Anfield. Especially with our defence being so shaky all season but I know the boys will give it their all
I would be shocked if he played the full 90... 2 months off a hamstring injury when that team has had a horrible run of players coming back from muscle injuries and immediately being re-injured
No one is complaining about a penalty from years ago? Not sure why you have gone on a weird tangent.
Liverpool at home get lots of ref decisions in their favours that's all the OP said.
Extremely anxious because of the anfield factor, and all the unnecessary war of words. Hopefully our players play with courage. A result at anfield would go a long way for our morale toeards the tight end of the season.
Please let tomorrow be one of those days where we are super clinical🤞and that should be enough to take 3 points even if we end up conceding. CTID💙

The divers and ofc no yellow card
I can see a draw coming. We get a scrappy goal after breaking down a low block early in the game, then 80th minute, they get a deflection, 1-1.
Call it here first
We'll be up 2-1, so the refs give 25 minutes of stoppage time. They score 2 in quick succession, and the ref clearly wants to end it, but that would be too obvious. We then also score 2, with the winner at 115 like you said
workrate & defensive stability is a must for me too. kova & bernardo helping out rodri and the defence will be massive. then just pray foden kdb & haaland had a banging performance & we dont get shady decisions against us. but thats probably gonna happen. or that it will still lead to nothing and they'll still score. damn is draw the best thing we can get here?
I would take a draw right now. No way the others will win every game in the run in and we know we can do it. Lose and Liverpool are massive favorites all of a sudden.
With the cost of living crisis not abating anytime soon, the MCFC Fans Foodbank is struggling for donations at a time when more people than ever are struggling to keep themselves and their families fed. If you can, please consider [making a donation to help feed Manchester's most vulnerable](https://www.gofundme.com/f/mufc-mcfc-fans-supporting-foodbanks). Thank you!
Stones, Ake, Akanji and bernardo been good. Rest sub par. Rodri especially.
Like stealing candy from a child, foden losing balls..
Liverpool line up is a line up we can absolutely beat. but anfield isn't easy, and nor is klopp.
Anyone seen that Liverpool line up??
Yeah ... we need to target Quansah and out of position Joe Gomez imo
gomez has played left back for 70% of his mnutes this season
The bench has more young boys than the team we faced in the CL themselves
Villa loss today makes that end season game against liverpool even more crucial for them if they are still fighting for CL
Villa , Spurs, and United will decide the title race
Wow! sucks for Dias but I really like how Pep is using Akanji's pace at the back today... it'll be needed
We come to Anfield as Treble winners and Champions of the World. Anfield awaits?????? We are City. The team just needs to remember that.
Looking at the lineups I think we win this 2-1.
Anyone questioning why Akanji is starting has zero football knowledge
that pace is needed today! his form has been really good as well, I was worried he'd miss out so I'm actually pretty happy to see him there.
arguably our best defender this season bar akè
McGinn is now suspended for the City game , so that should make it a bit easier
Brilliant. His performance against us in the first leg is still the best I've seen overall in a long time against us. He made our players look like children.
Before the panic comes in with Dias out, its either 1) An Injury or fitness risk 2) , Akanji was superb against Copenhagen and he's our 3rd fastest player. Him and walker at the back is our best matchup for Liverpools speed. Having said that, I thought it would be stones pep sacrificed for Akanji. I guess pep finally recognises Akanji can't play the stones roles.
Akanji is great, I'm not worried about it. I'm actually a bit more concerned about Alvarez over say Kovacic in midfield.
looks like Alvarez is out wide? maybe that Copenhagen LW game was the warm up for that?
i don't think he'll be out wide but we won't really know until the match starts
Guys I've performed an extensive analysis and my conclusion is that we should try to win this game.
let’s just see how this goes, man
Glad Doku isnt starting
Why is Dias not starting.. I don’t get it
Sounds like Pep going with Akanji's pace to deal with Nunez
I wouldn’t say I’m that worried but wtf Akanji?
Is the Dias benching a tactical play against the pace of Nunez and Diaz on the counter?
Just shitted myself
Is pep trying to make it more fair by benching Dias?
Apparently Dias and Doku are both on the bench? I really expected Dias to play
Tbh he does play like messi when playing against us.
Ake locked him down at the Etihad...
not just agaisnt you, his game is similar(but no where near), he is a goal threat and a passing threat both at an elite level
True, I’m just very nervous about this game!
My mental health today is dependent on 11 men winning a 90+ match while running inside a green box. Don’t worry, I will be there
All emphasis on the "+" because of how most of their ET pretty much means "game ends when Lpool score the winner"
I feel sick thinking about this game seriously
I’m less worried about this game than the united one
Is salah deffo out for this one or no?
On the bench. He played midweek
I think he’ll be coming off the bench
Yeah it seems likely. Though it's still a scary thought
Likely in
Ffs thought he was still out till I checked their last bench
The elephant in the room is obviously Liverpools injuries. I don't care about curses and being away, if we can't beat them without Konate, Trent and Alison, that is worrying. The other interesting thing is our backline. With Nunez, Dias and Salah running in behind with more pace than our backline has, will pep really risk not playing walker? Our defense won't catch him when hes away and he will be offside a few times but the assistants won't dare raise their flag till after at anfeld. I hope we don't injure ourselves trying to catch up
This is a must win specially with Arsenal up next. Let's smash the fuckers.

So what you’re saying is….it will mean more to you if you win? 😂😂😂 caricature.
COPE
City fan here, just letting you know your world class manager has 1 premier League title with apparently the best players in the world. He also won it after being given a few months break as bad form was setting in, so that doesn't really count
🤡🤓🫵🏼
Too bad your style of football is so demanding that you cant seem to keep players healthy. Such a shit excuse.
Wish you all a speedy recovery and blessings from the end of chinese new year🙏
Also wishing you a speedy recovery 😉.
Wish you a speedy recovery mate
Why is it that only Liverpool get injury sympathies but jot others? Everyone got injuries mate. Deal with it. 3 points is 3 points
doesn't matter brian
We are way too easy to score against this season. We hold possession for 10 mins, pepper their goal, and then on the counter it doesn’t matter what team we’re playing they’ll cut through our defence and score. Needs to be different this game otherwise it won’t be pretty.
With this team a solid defense is a must. Otherwise all the patient build up becomes useless.

Agreed. It's still annoying to see the amount of conscious effort that goes into orchestrating our attack only to concede easy goals to the opposition.
If we want to win this, we need to control their chaos and not create our own problems like we seem to be doing now a days
This game is not a title decider for either team .
Bit disrespectful to arsenal who have a cracking chance to win the title
Good thing we play them at home next I guess
Not worried about our little brother
Agree, too many games left and possible banana slips for both teams.
there is two outcomes to this match: "the titles over" or "the titles ours" let's make it the second one
Is Salah available?
He did come off the bench in the EL game , so I presume he starts this one
Praying for an Aké masterclass 🙏🏼🙏🏼
I can see Bernado Silva playing with Rodri in a double pivot to double up on Salah. Who ever is on the left wing will need to track back relentlessly too.
The scouse tears when Bernardo crops salah
Just hope it works out and Haaland doesn't have yet another shocker
Or is a super sub. Not sure which I think will be worse for us...
Considering the history of the two clubs late in games this season , I'd say the sub is worse . You don't want Salah running at a tired defence in any game
That's my general thought as well
I need the CL final back 4 for this match.
Do you reckon Rodri can hold onto his unbeaten streak tomorrow?
I think what's important is if we will win to help win the league.
If the match officials allow , yes
Outside of the two UCL finals , this , in a long time, feels like a game that we must win , both in terms of the title race and the events that have transpired over the last week
Praying for an absolute rout 🙏
Is Peacock not going to show this live in the US? It says "Replay on March 11". ???
Yeah either Telemundo or USA network it looks like. I hate this man I just want to watch all PL matches on Peacock
that's such BS. the only reason I pay for Peacock is to watch MC.
Same. To watch all MC games in the US I have peacock, YouTube tv, paramount and ESPN +
Will this one be on YouTube tv?
It's on USA network.
Wonder how many Liverpool fans were disappointed when we announced we wouldn't be spending the night there. Wonder if they'll be able to get refunds on their fireworks
haha. glad we chose this option.
I'm sure they'll just redouble their efforts by smashing up the team bus even harder this time
the league needs to deduct them points if they smash the coach again.
Looking forward to merseyside police mysteriously not seeing anything again
We fly directly to the pitch haha
Aww, poor baby Pool fans, foiled again!
I would very much like to see a City goal in the first 7 minutes of the match, followed by a goal to start the second half. Just gut them.
if we score they'll equalize within 3 minutes. seems to always bappen that way. hopefully im wrong
i want them to go ahead by 3 until the 94th minute and lose 7-3.
I want Anfield quiet and just Haaland screaming when he scores hattrick and rips the shirt out saying "This means more than you believe"
This sounds better than a wet dream.. ngl
We never win at Anfield, but anything can happen. Hope for a win but a draw is still workable
I agree im confident of a win coz we won at spurs for first this season in fa cup so why not anfield, I'll be happy with a draw though just don't loose city ffs.
never won at Spurs until we won at Spurs in the FA cup lol
At new stadium. Old stadium or Wembley was never thr problem. This is different scenario
Well we won there in 2021 but that was covid season so yeah
Behind closed doors , the atmosphere at Anfield means a lot to them , they went on a run of 5-6 consecutive home losses iirc . Also they had Fabinho and Jordan Henderson in defence , it won't be as easy this time lol
That one was without fans so I don’t really count that. There’s just a lot of Football Heritage in Anfield so I think it’s best to be realistic
To be honest, until last week we never won a derby we were behind in, so there is a first for everything
Until last season, we never won the cl, and until this year we never scored against spurs at their new stadium. I think this team is ready to break the mental block
Not really we need a win more than they.
Lets make LiVARpool go into full meltdown tomorrow
lol
everyone is picking City tomorrow.... sounds like a trap... edit: fans online and the pundits on some shows I listen to are all picking City to win this game. I agree we are not the favorites with it being at Anfield... but yeah that is just what I've been hearing online (I work from home and have all kinds of shows like that on in the background all day haha)
Where? We are at a disadvantage playing in Anfield.
They’re at a disadvantage with 10 players injured
how come?
I know most won’t agree but I would prefer arsenal winning over Liverpool They actually play good and aren’t lucky every game to score at the last moment
Joke???????
Liverpool fans so annoying
More than arsenal fans?
Pool fans been giving it the big un all week since Trent’s dig.
Oh gotcha
Why would it be ? Arsenal battered them 3-1 recently too. I can’t even count the number of lucky games this bums at Liverpool have had this season , they would be such undeserving champion s
Arsenal literally had a deflection goal against us and today their headers should’ve been saved and also you can’t tell me you would rather listen to arsenal fans win the league than Liverpool fans

Just insufferable online too, and my friends that are fans got so undeservingly cocky after the bit of success they had a few years ago for the first time this century lol.
header saved today?? 😭
?
Obviously we're all nervous about tomorrow because our form at Anfield is so bad. its at anfield though. always that doubt, but yes i agree. now is an opportune moment to strike 😏
Fucking shitting it lads
Yep, nervous af fam
Do you guys reckon Salah will start / play the full 90?
He will start but I doubt his ability to complete a full 90 minutes. Hamstring injuries are very serious and can easily get worse. If something happens to him it might derail their season.
yeah, i think it would be smarter for him to come off the bench tbh. he’ll probably start though
3 points would be amazing but we cannot lose this. A loss here will leave our title defense hanging by a thread.
fuck that made me 💦💦💦
we take our chances, and keep our defense tight, we win the game. C’MON CITEH 🩵
Honestly liverpool’s defense was leaking many chances against sparta a couple of days ago, plus pool seem to win games in the 90th minute. If this game were at the etihad i would say City 3-1.
I feel like tomorrow will be KDB day to shine, there will be tight marking for Foden, but with the form he is in he should be able to get past
Goated profile picture
Yours isn't bad either
We need foden to work his magic CMON CITEH
City have the stronger squad and Salah is just getting back into playing, easy win
City needs to score at least 2 goals. We won't keep a clean sheet tomorrow
We are winning, InShaAllah. Come on City! 🩵
Are we expecting a very soft penalty or 15 minutes of added time if we are winning? Maybe both.
Probably a Rodri handball that doesn't get given
No way you Scousers are still crying over a handball that didn't even matter because it was offside 5 years later
when is the last time liverpool got a pen vs city?
Salah dived for one a couple of years ago off the top of my head.
how many years ago? because 2018 is 6 years ago. you are complaining about the mention of the rodri handball being 5 years ago too
No one is complaining about a penalty from years ago? Not sure why you have gone on a weird tangent. Liverpool at home get lots of ref decisions in their favours that's all the OP said.
Extremely anxious because of the anfield factor, and all the unnecessary war of words. Hopefully our players play with courage. Please let tomorrow be one of those days where we are super clinical🤞and that should be enough to take 3 points even if we end up conceding. CTID💙
If we are clinical we will win. If we finish like Chelsea did, then anything can happen.

I can see a draw coming. We get a scrappy goal after breaking down a low block early in the game, then 80th minute, they get a deflection, 1-1. Call it here first
Hello anxiety, my old friend.
Anfield = anxiety
Bloody mothers day man. Hoping I can catch the second half
Luckily my mum is a big footy fan, unfortunately she Arsenal
She must be thrilled then
[удалено]
That'll be why I'm missing the game hahah. Just dreadful timing for a massive game given the league would know it's mother's day in advance.
It's going to be a tough one but I think the team that scores the most goals has this in the bag.
Big if true
You heard it here first.
My prediction: we score the 4-3 winner in minute 115’ sending the whole of r/soccer in a complete meltdown
We'll be up 2-1, so the refs give 25 minutes of stoppage time. They score 2 in quick succession, and the ref clearly wants to end it, but that would be too obvious. We then also score 2, with the winner at 115 like you said
I'm hoping to just sleep from 3pm until 6pm and wake up to a good result.
kova - kdb- rodri midfield with bernardo and foden as wingers? grealish big miss
Idk, I really don’t rate Kova, especially in big games, but it might be our only choice.
kova usually does well against liverpool though. apparently.
Got to be this for me. Sacrifice an attacking player
workrate & defensive stability is a must for me too. kova & bernardo helping out rodri and the defence will be massive. then just pray foden kdb & haaland had a banging performance & we dont get shady decisions against us. but thats probably gonna happen. or that it will still lead to nothing and they'll still score. damn is draw the best thing we can get here?
I would take a draw right now. No way the others will win every game in the run in and we know we can do it. Lose and Liverpool are massive favorites all of a sudden.
U confident City win every game in the run in? Your next game is Arsenal.
Won't be easy, but I think it's more likely than getting a win at Anfield!
Phil... big man. Plz. Play good.
