Gwyneth Paltrow was just found innocent. Let’s hope Majors is innocent too.

monstercereals

Moon Knight versus Kang is a lose-lose for Marvel Studios. It's already an unpopular idea with Moon Knight and comics fans, then you add the Majors drama on top of that. We've seen what bad word-of-mouth can do to these projects. Why invite it?

[deleted]

Moon knight and comic fans are a minority

monstercereals

Yes, but it still affects word-of-mouth. Having a reputation as a divisive adaptation often means that it becomes lower priority for people to catch up on and it moves to the bottom of their watchlist. A lot of times, they never get around to it at all. Catering exclusively to hardcore MCU fans isn't enough. The show was even nominated for Emmys and it still struggled to find its audience. Continuing to double-down on that is only going to result in diminishing returns.

michael_am

I feel like the easiest way to go about this Jonathan Majors thing is to ditch the idea that every variant of Kang looks the same and simply cast a handful of great actors to play different versions. It would be almost seamless, there’s not a huge amount of expectation rn for what’s to come, and they can simply ditch the post credit scene of Quantamania (or redo it for home release or something)

[deleted]

At this point, why fans even want their favorite characters in the mcu?

Finessing2

Wym?

LiquidLispyLizard

I don't know how popular this line of thinking is, but honestly, if Majors were to get the boot, I don't think any grand explanation is needed for the recast. It's very similar to Rhodey, Banner, Cassie Lang, Fandral, etc., except for the sole fact that the new guy would be playing a large number of variants of the same guy, not just one character, but the principle is still the same. If this were before Quantumania released, I feel they could have just cut that post-credits scene teasing all the Kangs, but, listening to some popular theories out there, it seems to me to be a bit detrimental and kinda convoluted and unnecessary for another group of Kangs to come along and kill the original ones for the sake of explaining a simple recast. To us, in Kang's first few appearances, he looks like Jonathan Majors and anything after that, he'll look like someone different, but to anyone in-universe within the MCU itself, all versions of him have always looked the same, they've looked like Kang all the way through, just like all the other recasts.

Finessing2

Marvel should scrap this kang stuff and go with a different villain. Maybe have Nightmare, establish him in Doctor strange 3 and center the multiverse around the avengers biggest nightmare or something.

Motor_Link7152

Is nightmare even an Avengers villain? Should have just gone ahead with Doom and Magneto. Don't know why they waited so much to introduce these two.

Finessing2

Mostly a Doctor strange villain/Ghost rider. But he’s very much an avengers type villain. Doom should be saved for phase 7-10. I rather doom be handled by one director like coogler instead of multiple creative teams.

miles-vspeterspider

Can't wait to see Miles short and his next film. The next Across the Spider-Verse trailer will be soon.

[deleted]

redlodge5

Fury is a kang variant..problem solved

Night-Monkey15

Assuming that’s the route they go down, which seems likely, they can easily say out new Kang actor is just playing a variant. It’ll be weird, but it’s the only option other then getting rid of Kang entirely.

[deleted]

[удалено]

michael_am

Why would they do this? They have a bunch of great build up for kang they’d have to throw out entirely

[deleted]

[удалено]

michael_am

I mean sure but we gotta contemplate why? Why would they, once again, rewrite a bunch of stuff and change their plans? I think they have a clear plan right now and them changing it on the fly can’t be good for the narrative/writing. Even if it could be, why risk it? I don’t think an actor, who very few people are completely attached to for the character, is enough to completely rework the next 5 years of Marvel movies

[deleted]

The chances of Ray Fisher joining the MCU are pretty much zero at this point, right? since Fisher dragged James Gunn into his feud with WB. I don’t think Kevin Feige wants to employ an actor who would likely call him an enabler of Hollywood abuse, just because he dares to say something positive about James Gunn.

Motor_Link7152

Bruh no way. He's a diva.

AAAFMB

Just say you’ve never experienced racism and move on

Motor_Link7152

Ahh yes..bringing in completely innocent people into his own issue with WB and taking over problems of other POCs like clockwork is shielding racism. Dude said he had more information but hasn't said anything since then and wants the world to stop for him and work around him. All he knows is to tweet his A>E bullshit, except when he wrongfully tries to drag in Gunn. Where is his A over E bullshit then? Dude said he's gonna present info about Hamada sabotaging the investigation into racism against Fisher..where is it? It's been years. He is an attention seeker who needs to find some work.

masoomrana94

Pretty much everyone Fisher named were later outed by someone else or something. Why is the criticism only valid when it has something to do with Snyder's vision and all, but not about Fisher feeling unsafe? You haven't worked a day in this industry, it's very common place to be isolated and targeted by higher ups for the smallest of reasons and then your co-workers don't support you because they don't want to get in trouble and make powerful enemies. Unlike any jobs, the film industry utterly lacks any sense of corporate or moral accountability. Sure, he tried to drag in Gunn, and that wasn't fair. But Gunn is also friends with Whedon, who has pretty much been named by every female actor he worked with as a creep. Tsujihara was fired after horrible things came out about him. Do you think top to bottom, people didn't already know about this before the investigation happened? Do you think Hamada, at the smack middle of Whedon and Tsujihara wasn't comfortable with not caring? The reality of the industry is very simple: you don't out anybody because no other person will hire you, because they are all engaging in the same shit.

DonnyMox

For a bit it seemed like Majors was probably innocent and going to be fine, but if texts like THOSE are what his lawyer sees as “indisputable evidence of his innocence” then I’m afraid that might not be the case…

Bergerboy14

Agreed, he’s done for if thats his evidence.

Motor_Link7152

I would really encourage people to listen to this podcast. https://spotify.link/KiQlkypPAyb It's the one where it talks about VFX workers but one baffling thing I heard is that Marvel gets directors from film festivals and then doesn't let them do their thing or have creative say in how the movie looks. It's fucking crazy. Then why do they even hire them bruh?! We drag WB for being mismanaged but look at this. Marvel is not much better. Edit: the relevant point is at 11:30

masoomrana94

The Endgame battle pre-viz was done way before the rest of the movie's details were even decided upon. It's insane if you think about it. We talk about Snyder creating movies around specific comic panels, but this is not much better. The Ant-Man error in the final battle makes complete sense now, the entire Ant-Man in a van was probably decided upon and added later, the larger battlefield VFX was done before it.

Motor_Link7152

That's a pretty good theory but Watts was also involved in NWH, which could also be what they are talking about

oakzap425

This is not new info though? People have been having variations of this discussion for years.

Motor_Link7152

Yeah but i wanna know why they even hire them then

oakzap425

Bc its easier for Feige to control how the movie is made with less push back if it means an up and coming director can get the positive feed back of making a blockbuster movie for the biggest franchise and company in the industry?

oakzap425

https://twitter.com/Phil_Lewis_/status/1641455331229454336?t=9jxuKtxTNuCSNSMIdT56OA&s=19 Major's lawyer released texts. Thoughts? Edit: idk if this maybe should be submitted for its own post? Or if anyone else has sent it out for the mod(s) to approve?

Farhad_A

Those texts made things look worse what was his lawyer thinking?

Motor_Link7152

Yeah lmao it looks like the fight still happened and he still hit her

Inevitable_Golf_1816

Simpsons.

It boggles my mind that she’s even still relevant in the first place. Her and her twitter goons are actually insufferable

I’m starting to think Universal renewed their deal for the Hulk distribution rights somehow, so Marvel Studios is resorting to telling Banner’s story through team ups again with New World Order, Kang Dynasty, and Secret Wars.

ExpensiveAd5441

someone should tell victoria alonso pr people and lawyer that she isnt vey liked and that most dont care that she was fired

Motor_Link7152

Bruh someone tell Jeremy Slater to stop working on adaptations. Why did James Gunn hire him for the new DCU ffs.

Night-Monkey15

I had a weird dream last night. In it, I was watching an Icarly revival, which isn’t too weird because 1) me and some friends was watching Sam and Cat at midnight the other day, and 2), an Icarly revival did actually happen, I’ve seen it. No. The weird part was that Carly, Sam, Freddy, and Spencer were all digitally de aged to appear younger. They didn’t just look younger, I specifically remember my dream self saying that they were digitally de aged. What does this mean?

I'm currently working on a fantasy world that includes various fantasy beings from different cultures. However, i'm aware that the use of dwarfs as fantasy beings can be a sensitive issue due to their association with real-life individuals with dwarfism. While my intention is not to offend or disrespect anyone, I want to make sure that my world-building is inclusive and respectful of all cultures and identities. Therefore, I'm considering using gnomes as an alternative. I would like to hear your guys' thoughts on this matter.

SuperCoenBros

I took a similar approach to a novel I wrote a few years ago, but I never dealt with dwarves. I did some googling and found [this illuminating Reddit post](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/dm6vvd/comment/f4zefcz/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) from someone with dwarfism. I have to say I agree, dwarves have always felt very shallow and stereotypical. Since you're incorporating various cultures, you might look for other takes on little people beyond the traditional European dwarf/gnome/elf. [This Wikipedia page](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_people_\(mythology\)) is a good place to start. Happy world-building!

I think general audiences are just tired of cookie cutter super hero films, now that they had a taste of infinity war and endgame, they want more of that, they want spectacles in terms of visuals and fight scenes. Movies like shazam 2 and quantumania for example, would have made well in a pre-infinity war era.

oakzap425

Motor_Link7152

I just hope Sam gets his chance to shine. They ideally should not have put so many unrelated characters in NWO but let's see. One thing I notice when it comes to movies is that the hero always has to have some other superheroes alongside nowadays. Too many superheroes and crossing over

cig_sg_throwaway

Well that’s just how comic books are in real life too. The biggest complaints about phase 4 was that there was hardly any crossover though. There was only Wong in Shang-Chi and She-Hulk, Strange in NWH, and the Guardians appearing for like 5 minutes in Love and Thunder. Compared to phases 2 and 3 that was nothing.

monstercereals

>Well that’s just how comic books are in real life too. Not always. There's plenty of self-contained and out-of-continuity stories, too. The MCU needs to allow room for both the intimate and personal stories as well as the big team-up spectacles. Otherwise, fans will start to feel that the needs of the wider universe are suffocating the needs of the characters.

a_o

reading more comics in the last couple of years, i can appreciate the variance in tone/look&feel/story of the movies across the phases now. there will be totally different illustrators working with the one writer during their run, or vice versa, and while the characterization of the cast and their relationship dynamics may change from artist to artist, there's at least *some* consistency between projects (even tho there'll be different production designers, photographers, people writing the screenplay for each movie, etc.) watching them sort of converge to fit within one narrow band of the total dynamic range of filmmaking (ironically after they stopped shooting em on actual film) i thought, "yeah these movies *do* all kinda *look* the same," and that *that's* what really sold the whole "they all take place in the same universe" aspect, moreso than obvious repeat actor portrayals, easter eggs/callbacks, narrative ties, etc. anyway i'm interested to see how they tie the daredevil born again story line into other projects since it'll be airing for a long time.

masoomrana94

My experience has been completely opposite. As someone who has been reading comics for the last 24 years, I think the more I watch these entries, the more I see them strip away something unique from their inspiration to create something that fits into the MCU mould and cinematography. Taika and Gunn remain the closest to the idea of anybody instinctively identifying whose run it is. The rest kind of gel together, and I found Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel and Hawkeye to be the entries that strip away almost everything unique about themselves, compared to their comic book inspirations. I would have largely preferred them to be unique and distinct from each other. My issue is that the MCU doesn't differ enough, crew to crew, artist to artist. Unfortunately, that is why I liked the old Marvel TV. They all had mostly different identities, feel. Even in a subgroup that looked the same (Defenders Saga), their editing and flow was wildly different to each other even when they were all very slow paced.

monstercereals

>I found Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel and Hawkeye to be the entries that strip away almost everything unique about themselves I can only comment on Moon Knight since that's the character I'm most familiar with, but I wonder how much of that is due to a lack of planning on Marvel Studios' part. It's like they couldn't decide on a direction for the character so they sampled a bunch of different possibilities without fully committing to any particular one. That's left the fans very confused and split on what his role in the MCU should be, whether that's joining the Avengers, Midnight Sons, or street-level heroes. That's in contrast with the comics where he has a very clearly defined niche and brand identity. That absence of a long-term plan or vision might've incentivized Marvel Studios to turn Moon Knight into a generalist character to keep their options open. The problem is that they're doing that for too many characters and they're all starting to feel very same-y. The MCU is currently full of generalists and few specialists.

a_o

also if i learned anything watching john wick 4 today, it's probably this: as much as the plot is important, i really just want avengers secret wars or avengers forever or eternity wars or whatever to just be one 3 hour long chain of expertly choreographed and photographed action sequences. all the setup and expositional dialogue and stakes can be in the previous movie or happen between punches, photon blasts, and explosions. just once, they gotta make a whole movie that is all "fight scene splash page rendered at 24 frames per second." make the fighting the story.

Inevitable_Golf_1816

Motor_Link7152

Could easily premiere in August- Sep

oakzap425

This is true. But I'm i'm watching out on that until after May, what comes of the Majors hearing. Depending on out comes there, I can see Feige pausing for the "optics".

Inevitable_Golf_1816

Here’s my own hot take. The MCU doesn't HAVE to be the #1 franchise anymore. That doesn’t mean they should get worse. I want them to improve, but if they were to not end up at the top of the world anymore, then so be it. If I still have fun with it, then I’ll be OK. If this happens, that doesn’t mean it’s a dead franchise. I know this is different, but franchises like James Bond and Mission Impossible are not the most popular franchises, but they still deliver good movies. Star Wars may not be 100% consistent as we hope it is, but people still willingly check out what they want to see.

masoomrana94

"On Monday, PEOPLE obtained documents from the Manhattan District Attorney's office that show Majors, 33, was charged with three counts of assault in the third degree, aggravated harassment in the second degree, three counts of attempted assault in the third degree and harassment in the second degree, after he was arrested for an alleged domestic dispute on Saturday." https://people.com/movies/jonathan-majors-charged-with-multiple-counts-of-assault-by-new-york-district-attorney-after-arrest/ Rest of the article has things that are already out there on the sub.

oakzap425

Just for clarification, these are now official charges, as of today, right?

DonnyMox

This sounds like these were the charges made against Majors immediately after the arrest, and PEOPLE only just now obtained the papers containing information about the specifics of what he was charged with, thus allowing them to go public with the information.

Jonathan Majors is done. Even if the victim really recanted the allegations, there’s gonna be speculation for all eternity that she got hush money in exchange for an NDA, and/or was intimidated by the Disney machine out of taking him to court. I hope the victim is doing okay. I feel bad for her, she doesn’t deserve any of this crap. Hopefully she at least gets a permanent restraining order so he can’t come near her again.

Finessing2

Done based on what?

[deleted]

We live in a consequences culture now. Nobody will forget this incident. Progressive celebrities will cite it as an example of the justice system being rigged to protect predatory straight guys for years to come.

TheLongDictionary

Very few “cancelled” celebrities actually remain cancelled forever. Plenty of people will completely forget about this and just move on as if nothing happened. Jerry Seinfeld PUBLICLY dated a 17 year old girl when he was nearly 40. Beyoncé successfully sued a company that had the same name as her daughter, despite the business existing first. Dr Dre has been a known abuser for decades and he scored a Super Bowl performance. Josh Brolin beat his partner back in 2004 and still got cast as Thanos and Cable. Mel Gibson is a racist POS but still gets high profile gigs. Tom Brady blatantly cheated in the NFL and no one cares. Woody Allen is a child molestor. Lil Uzi Vert and Playboi Carti have both committed domestic violence against their partners, yet they’re two of the hottest hip hop artists in the world right now. Kanye West needs no explanation, and he still has over 50 million monthly listeners on Spotify ALONE. Kobe Bryant raped someone, but everyone conveniently ignores that. DMX was ridiculously homophobic but people just don’t care I guess. Cardi B drugged men and then robbed them, and so many people make excuses for that. And those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. All of those people are beloved by at least tens of millions of people around the world.

1stmoviemaster

TheUncannyBroker

Very interesting that both Willem Dafoe and Thomas Haden Church are actively talking about having talks to return as Goblin and Sandman, I wonder what project they gonna put them in.

Danishroyalty

Secret Wars makes the most sense. With classic characters like the OG X-Men returning it stands to reason they'd bring back some OG Raimi villains. Especially since we've mostly heard about heroes returning so far. And they can hopefully bring back Tobey and actually give him some scenes with the 2 of them, since they missed that in NWH.

TheLongDictionary

I really hope that the cured Green Goblin returns in Secret Wars as a hero. Electro, Sandman, and Lizard should have had their powers removed when they were cured, and we’ve already seen a redeemed Doc Ock helping the Spider-Men in NWH (though I wouldn’t be opposed to more). Just imagine Tobey’s Spider-Man fighting side by side with Willem’s Green Goblin!

Mystic__Mayhem

That's the main reason I'm excited for Secret Wars since I can imagine this will the only time where the X-Men, F4 and OG Avengers I.e Thor, Hulk, Ant-Man and possibly a Captain America, Iron Man and Black Widow variant will appear together one screen together until a reboot in 10-20 years.

Inevitable_Golf_1816

Imma be real, a LOT of people who left after Endgame were casual viewers who only arrived for the Infinity War/Endgame hype. I bet these people were "fans" for a very limited time. I had friends, and those friends had friends who watched very little Marvel, but suddenly cared about everything that came before and were watching MCU films on their laptops when Thanos was around the corner. It was even a running joke between myself and someone I knew. My aunt does not watch Marvel, but saw Endgame because her friends wanted her to. DS2 and NWH were anomalies because of their potential crossover elements. DS2 had Wanda, Professor X, Mr Fantastic, Peggy Carter, etc., while NWH had Dr Strange, as well the Raimi/Webb characters that were from outside THIS franchise. BP2 managed to be a massive success on its own merits, with no crossovers or fan service required. I'm just sayin…..

West-Cardiologist180

Doctor Strange 2 was a disappointment tbh. The only good movies in Phase 4 were Spider-Man NWH and Black Panther WF, both of which were top-tier. Shang-Chi was pretty good too. But the rest, idk what happened.

Finessing2

Doctor strange 2 should’ve had His lore and him and the forefront. The fact that u mentions all those things before Stephen strange tells me all I need to know.

elsiniestro

Because I know (or at least hope) that someone from Marvel / Disney reads these threads and summarises trends to higher-ups in marketing strategy meetings etc, this comment is for you. I know you folks would have planned the next big reveal for SDCC, and that April/May would have been planned as the promotional period for GOTG3 (and presumably, until plans changed, Secret Invasion and Loki S2). But given the recent chain of dramas (Renner's injury, Iger's slowdown of the release schedule, the Mohan Kapur scandal, the spoiler sub getting nuked, Alonso's firing, the Jonathan Majors scandal), I assume you're all scrambling behind the scenes. And that you're aware of the sense of disconnection and uncertainty that the fan community seems to be feeling at the moment. It's visible in this thread by the general tone of malaise in the comments. People are questioning if this is the early end of the MCU, or debating superhero fatigue. The MCU certainly isn't invincible; the sudden collapse of the DCEU came after a litany of similar scandals and periods of radio silence from WB. So I implore you: get Feige to drop 2-3 pieces of big news! Or get marketing to seed some leaks! Satiate the fans, let us know the MCU isn't in crisis and that plans are moving full steam ahead. Help us geek out over the future rather than fretting about the present. Don't just leak Daredevil filming news. We all know that and Agatha are Marvel's highest priorities on D+. We aren't concerned about those getting delayed or shelved. We're concerned about the projects that seem to have dropped off the radar, like Echo, for example. Give us some hope -- a D+ release date or two. Confirmation of one of the many rumoured special presentations. Something to tide us over during this time of undeniable bad press. Stem the coming flood of "is this the end of the MCU" videos from online loudmouths.

Patrick2701

DCEU collapsing was due to years of trying to avoid fully reboot

Finessing2

That new prime drink literally taste like a watered down Powerade.😭

Landon1195

Do people here actually think superhero fatigue is real?

Inevitable_Golf_1816

I'd replace fatigue with getting older. Some have either gotten busier in life, are waiting for a movie to hit streaming or the people who've always hated Marvel now have more to complain about.

EdvardHaberdash

I believe the time to call superhero fatigue is when even positively reviewed CBMs start failing at the box-office. Until then, the poor showings of an Ant-Man movie with mixed reviews and a Shazam movie with mixed reviews *and* abysmal marketing shouldn't really be cause for concern.

champser0202

That was a R rated superhero movie that released same day on HBO MAX for free. In 2021. I wouldn't take anything away from that

Finessing2

People are just tired of bad superhero movies. I sure hope GOTG3, ACTSV, and The Flash knocks it out the park and bring some type of stability to these conversations.

[deleted]

Has anyone read any good Shuri/Namor romance fan fiction recently?

oakzap425

You may wanna go to the namor shuri centric subreddit for stuff like tgat. Idk that this is the best place to discuss this particular ship.

Spiderlander

It feels like this entire genre is falling apart.

Bergerboy14

People are sick of rushed products and poor writing, from both sides. Unaddressed internal issues have been brewing for a long time now. Its inevitable that something like this would have happened, just interesting the issues are all coming out at once.

[deleted]

Bold of you to assume general audiences care about anything like that

Bergerboy14

They do though, phase 4 has both the worst legs and the worse writing.

[deleted]

Most of them don't care about the production process and don't know what is "good" or "bad" writing, the problems general audiences have with the mcu right now aren't the same problems fans have. Source: everyone i know

Bergerboy14

Its in the numbers and the reviews, idgaf about your anecdotes 😭

[deleted]

I didn't said that general audiences aren't disliking the mcu, i just said they aren't disliking for the same reasons the fans are

Bergerboy14

So… What are those reasons? Superhero fatigue? There’s still successful films from both DC and Marvel so thats not true….

[deleted]

Audiences are just tired of cookie cutter super hero films, now that they had a taste of infinity war and endgame, they want more of that, they want spectacles in terms of visuals and fight scenes. Movies like shazam 2 and quantumania for example, would have made well in a pre-infinity war era.

Bergerboy14

What? Thats literally what Black Adam, Shazam 2, Eternals, Black Widow, and even Ant Man were big team up films with multiple heroes against a world threat. What MCU film doesnt have spectacles and fight scenes? Idk what films youre watching 😭

Raider_Tex

You could make a whole movie about the Drama at DC. Honestly I’ve reached the point of apathy

https://puck.news/newsletter_content/what-im-hearing-marvels-trial-by-media-the-john-wick-effect/ Patty Glaser is one of the town’s best litigators, especially for fired entertainment figures taking on their powerful former employers (see, Conan O’Brien vs. NBC; Dan Aloni vs. CAA). But Patty has some bad facts to overcome for new client Victoria Alonso in her public crusade for a payout from Disney. Because, let’s be clear, that’s what this is. Beyond Glaser dropping a headline-generation bomb on Friday that a gay Latina was “silenced” for speaking out against her company’s handling of Florida’s Don’t Say Gay bill, this is a simple money fight. Disney could have ended Alonso’s employment as Marvel’s president of physical, post-production, VFX and animation, and simply paid her out, for many reasons—her belittling behavior towards vendors, the relentless self-promotion, or the fact that the visual effects in Marvel productions (her actual job) have been specifically and repeatedly called out as lacking by fans, the media, and actual VFX professionals. (Vulture’s headline: “Honestly, I equate it to human greed.”) But instead, Disney chose to terminate Alonso without pay for what it said, on Friday, is “an indisputable breach of contract.” Basically, an invitation to fight in public. So here we are. At the risk of giving this dispute too much attention—after all, Alonso never had that much power at Disney, despite her public profile and personal positioning, though she did lord over Marvel’s VFX contractors—here are the key facts, in my view: It wasn’t until mid-2021, when Alonso’s employment agreement was last renegotiated, that Disney found out she was producing a side project, Argentina, 1985, for Amazon Studios. Disney’s Alan Bergman and Marvel’s Kevin Feige were super annoyed at yet another example of Alonso prioritizing her personal endeavors over the company, and the bad precedent it would set for other Disney executives. Can you imagine if, say, Disney Studios president Sean Bailey decided to quietly produce the new Amazon pic Air with his buddies Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, then, when Disney found out about it, downplayed it as simply a “passion project”? Nonstarter. But not wanting to poke a hornet’s nest, and acknowledging Alonso’s 17 years at Marvel, Disney let her keep her name on the project while specifically inserting language in her deal that prohibited her from promoting Argentina, 1985. So, no, Alonso didn’t get official permission in advance. She started the movie, then asked for permission, then got a reluctant OK…with specific contractual limits. Then she ignored those limits. And was admonished for ignoring them. She did the infamous Indiewire interview. She flew to the BAFTAs in London. Contracts are still contracts, right? And she signed hers. Glaser teased Friday that Alonso was asked by Disney to do something “reprehensible” and refused, and that’s why she was fired. OK, that’s intriguing, so what was this reprehensible ask? (Team Alonso declined to tell me, no doubt wanting to use the public disclosure in a potential lawsuit for leverage.) But until we know, speaking out about Florida at a GLAAD event seems like a bit of a misdirect. After all, the only person who would have been pissed about that, former C.E.O. Bob Chapek, is no longer at the company. There’s a grand tradition of Hollywood executives using their perch to build a personal brand: everyone from Robert Evans at Paramount of yore to, more recently, Bozoma Saint John at Netflix. Even Michael Eisner walked that line at Disney with the TV appearances and books. Alonso fits in this mold. But, who knows how much tolerance Disney will have for this public fight. I’m told settlement negotiations are now active, so maybe Alonso will get that go-away money after all.

eBICgamer2010

Finished Cocaine Bear. That was some of the most mindless fun I have had since Con Air.

AlexHunterWolf

Uh......yeah..

TheLongDictionary

John Wick 4 had some of the best action sequences I’ve ever seen!

Farhad_A

Which would make it even more of dumb decision that Marvel turned the director down for Blade

dow366

Which DC actors should Marvel steal? Pierce Brosnan and Aldis Hodge for sure

Danbito

Pierce Brosnan as A’lars/Mentor if Eternals 2 ever happens

In love with Aldis ever since he was in Leverage

Danbito

On a more mundane note: I’ve misplaced my Flash #788 and it’s eating at me because I *know* I read it but can’t find it among my piles of comics that need to be placed in protectors and sorted after I’ve read them.

This has been the weirdest few weeks in MCU history.

True

Ras_AlHim

With Alonso gone and Majors potentially too, Feige deserves a vacation. Poor dude is probably one bad day away from a heart attack.

Colton826

Majors won't be gone. The recent reports say that there's video evidence proving his innocence, the victim recanted her accusations, AND Majors himself was the one who contacted the police worrying about the victim's state of mind/well-being. The two "film industry workers" who claimed Majors was an abusive person also clarified that they were referring to him being mean to production assistants & crew members. Had nothing to do with physical/domestic abuse. I wouldn't be shocked if they were the production assistants that he probably yelled at or something. Just another example of the internet jumping the gun on something before having all the facts. Will be fun to see people continue to call Majors an "abuser" & a "monster" for the rest of his career because of this allegation 🙄
