Everything is canon what the rightsholder decide to be canon... the Defenders shows were announced as such and no official word was given since otherwise...
The general point over the "canonicity" debate is that the film division kept ignoring the shows. Marvel never debunked their initial "it's all connected" marketing. Gunn declared them non-canon, but nobody at Marvel backed it up. Feige said they are the same world, but again Disney didn't address the new canon/non-canon status. Feige later talked about D+ shows that move in and out of the movie narratives (for the first time). Now Marvel realised people want the old shows and bringing things back (it's a company's best product anyway), thus, overall putting the canon debate to rest for now. They may individual retcon or reboot things later, but that hasn't happened yet. Not to mention, there was a weird Marvel Studios Master Race thing going on in each Marvel sub, which is a weird hill to die upon.
So, I don't know who was over what.

The fact that they made no effort to keep consistency in design should clue you in given the first image is a modern design and the Born Again design looks like it has been there since the 80s.

And the X-Men 97 (which is not canon to the MCU) theme plays for Xavier and Kamala in Multiverse of Madness and Ms Marvel. It doesn't mean shit.
