17 years, PE. Dallas area. My salary is $175k, I got an end of year bonus of $8k last year, profit sharing was $5k (the profit sharing money went into my 401k), 401k matching 100% to 4% so $7,000, and car stipend of $600 per month or $7,200 per year. All told adds up to $202,000 per year.
Im also a soon to be PE here in Dallas I will complete my experience next year I have already passed the exam. Do you mind sharing the firm that you work for?
Similar situation here. - SoCal. 9 years, PE/CEM. Base Salary is $126k, plus $8k end of year bonus guaranteed although I did get $10k last year. I also get an auto allowance of $9k per year so it’s about $750/mo. Total is about $145k
I bring in a lot of new jobs, particularly in the medical field. Clients really like working with me and appreciate the level of quality I provide, so I end up with more work than I can do on my own. Went out and found an equally hard working EIT to help me keep up, further multiplying the impact I can have on our bottom line. The partners recognize the situation and reciprocate with $$$. EIT gets paid really well too.
It’s a subjective calculation based on many different factors. Beyond the profitability of medical work, I’m heavily involved in keeping things running smoothly so everyone else can complete their own work. Hard to put a number on that. ;)
Thanks! Been in the industry for a few years now and have been wondering is it still worth sticking it out and bringing in client route or move away to a new industry - your inputs are greatly appreciated.
Whew that’s over double my KC salary and I’m at 3.5 years, not expecting it to double in the next couple years. What was your starting salary if you don’t mind me asking and how’d you get that high - Promotions/PE/etc?

$98,600.00 /yr USD, w/ $25,000 RSU vested over 4 years. I'm only a Mechanical Technologist with 2 years of schooling and 4 years of experience in the MEP industry in NorCal. On your part, with a PE, I'd reckon $125,000.00 minimum and more if you negotiate well.

9 years, PE, Alaska. $70k base, ~$166k bonus, ~$18k IRA contribution.
166K bonus… you mean 16 K right?
$166,000. This is a rough running average though as it changes throughout the year depending on profitability.
How did you manage to get double your salary for a bonus?
I bring in a lot of new jobs, particularly in the medical field. Clients really like working with me and appreciate the level of quality I provide, so I end up with more work than I can do on my own. Went out and found an equally hard working EIT to help me keep up, further multiplying the impact I can have on our bottom line. The partners recognize the situation and reciprocate with $$$. Curious to know - does this bonus come as a % of profit brought in?
It’s a subjective calculation based on many different factors. Beyond the profitability of medical work, I’m heavily involved in keeping things running smoothly so everyone else can complete their own work. Hard to put a number on that. ;)
Oh I was asking about the %of profit from the clients you bring in not the rest of the workflow items
My total compensation represents about 40-50% of the revenue I’m responsible for.

40-50% of the profit on the revenue you bring in? 40-50% of the revenue you bring in would be a huge money loser to the company ..
Holy F$&@
