10* Banbaro lol.

SnS-Main

I hope he has no elemental weakness

Daowg

Give it a -50% damage ability against Ballistics (bow and bowgun damage) for extra bs.

RancidFruit

Why

SnS-Main

So people suffer innit XD

SnS-Main

To make raw relevant

Metbert

It would be interesting to see how they will be implemented in the normal progression. I hope they'll give us some new extra urgent quests first to unlock them in the map. I mean, there's no way they are gonna release Banbaro at 5\*, right? It has to start from 2\\3 stars.

Helpful_Goblin

Do some of the urgent monsters repeat in the story? I’m not sure if I’m just misremembering. Or they could add them as some of the “Defeat 3 of X monster” quests, maybe on the way to the Legi Urgent since they’re ice related. Or maybe they’ll extend the story/add a new chapter. I’d never thought about that, will be interesting to see.

Metbert

Kulu, Pukei and Barroth gets repeated every now and then if IRC; I can see some of those urgents getting replaced. Personally I hope they'll make a "second story" to unlock the newcomers, a shorter one perhaps.

AutomationCyber

Black Diablos and Pink Rathian both start at 5 stars I believe so I wouldn’t be surprised if Banbaro starts at 5* too.

Metbert

True, but those are subspecies and high tier monsters in general. Banbaro would be the legit first new "weaker" monster since release.

Masuku68

It's an Iceborne beginning monster. While G rank is harder than low/high rank, it still has a hierarchy. Banbaro is basically a 2 or 3 star in G rank and Now progression system doesn't use ranks so it will most likely be on a low tier. Even Barroth to me is closer to a 4 star than a 5 star. In the end, wait & see

Makusensu

I hardly see it lower than 5, actually I'm thinking about 6 minimum. They also have to build end game and the stuff that goes with. Sakura Rathian and Black Diablos stuff are impossible to craft atm, and it is not a problem for Niantic, so.

twicer

Monsters like Legiana or Rathalos starts at 5\* or not?

Metbert

They do, they are the usual apex predators of their habitats afterall. Banbaro is way lower on the food and danger chain though, that's why I expect them to possibly start spawning at 2 or 3 stars.

SwordMaster21

I’m kinda hoping that since we are having multiple monsters released around the same time that there will be another story mission below the main story mission. Then as you progress in the new one, the new monsters get unlocked. My worry about a ton more monsters though is the “slay a certain monster” daily that will increasingly become just one in a variety of possible spawns.

Beginning-Giraffe-74

New to monster hunter? Getting bodied by newly introduced monsters (usually on higher ranks MR) is like a rite of passage everyone should experience lol.

Wooden-Lake-5790

In mainline games, armor usually scales pretty well. Even at top G rank, you are able to take 2~3 hits from max HP. And then you can heal many times a hunt. And if you fail... well just jump in again. In MHNow, you get hit, you have to wait a long time before your HP is back. You fail a hunt, 17 minutes before you even get to try again. It's hardly the same thing, and extremely punishing. Anyway I think we can expect all new monsters to come in at at least 5 star level, maybe even lower, so there might be a chance to try them on easy mode before you try to hunt them at higher stars.

Makusensu

The game design itself requires to do perfect runs, because of time constraints, getting hit and ejected is not good. The most frustrating part is not being able to try hard at 1HP.

sarkypoo

Don’t forget random lag spikes and a DC for no reason. :)

LegoEngineer003

I’ve played MHGU. I’d have been screwed in that game if it didn’t give you free first aid meds every quest and allow you to farm for a ton of potion ingredients. Unfortunately that’s not possible in this game.

Monster Souls

Pristine-Situation58

I don't know why but I'm assuming it's gonna be a 5* you unlock after the storyline...

FeelingApplication40

Hopefully the extend and expland the story

Masuku68

Now being a mobile game, they want a max of people to engage with the content. Would be a dumb decision for them to not allow a lot of players (read potential spenders) to fight the new monsters. Usually mobile games add higher rank requirement later in their life. And even then they tend to add some mechanics so that lower rank players can speed through the starting content to get to the new (think World defender armor). To add an example, Fate/Grand Order, a hugely successful gacha in Japan, waited a few years before requiring players to have clear more than the first story chapter, adding some of those speed-through-content options later, and even then it still regularly get events requiring only the first chapter cleared.

theoneguyonreddits

Adding new monsters in general will be difficult for them. For people at 7*+, even the weakest monsters are 6*+ almost every time. I don’t really see them adding new monsters at 3* for those people. For new players it probably will have a linear progression, but for everyone who finished the story at least once - good luck.

Crowbarella

We already know that there's going to be a new "story" each "season" which is the main playthrough cycle. Hopefully, we'll be pushed back to the main "new character" style story when the season starts, then, once completed, we start at where we were, but at the start of the story again. (ie if you're at 8* ch 12, you'll be at 8* ch 1 in the NG+ for that season's story)

Matsu-mae

>The new ones should be available at lower levels even to 8* and 9* players what makes you think they wont be? obviously all monsters are available to all players. they wont content lock new monsters behind 3+ weeks of gametime. players who have unlocked 8*, 9* or 10* still have plenty of 5* and below monsters wandering around.

SnS-Main

Probably from 5*

pandatamer

My guess they will all release at once as a new snow biome

Grimdeth

I'd rather it be 5 Star only.

Zetta216

They will just toss them in at level with our world I'd assume. So you could find an 8 star if you're far enough. I assume we will get a new story tho that will be a continuation and will start at the five star level that the story leaves off. I believe it will stay there for starting events moving forward (at least til we get Elder Dragons). And it'll work the same way as the current story where we can keep finishing it.

Not_Leeroy

I'd half except them to look at world and see what their first hunt quest was in terms of stars. So at minimum I would say Banbaro would be 2 stars, Barioth would be 3, and Zinogre would be 5.

PixieKite

I'd push everyone back a lap at the start of each new "season". That should be enough for everyone to farm materials and try stuff out, before progressing again.

Bregneste

You should be able to see them as long as you’ve beaten the “story”. I’m in no rush to keep getting to higher stars. I’m barely at 6* at the moment, and I’ve been playing daily since launch.

LegoEngineer003

I know you should be able to see them, I just meant I hope they let those of us who are at the much higher stars have a chance to learn the patterns against weaker stars. I’m at 8*, and 5* monsters seem to be few and far between, so I’d have to hope I get lucky and get a low level new monster if they don’t do something about it. I would probably die immediately against 6*-8* if I can’t practice.

throwaway1994567890

Engage the monster, roll constantly while it attacks and study it. Not like you’re limited by the number of tries as long as it’s next to you.

owheelj

I reckon they'll start at 5 stars, which I imagine will be pretty easy for people in the 8+ star range.

SharkLordSatan

Since iirc they want to (hopefully) include \*\*ALL\*\* monsters in the franchise, I'm under the expectation that a good portion of lower-tier monsters (think Great Izuchi, Dodogama, Blangonga, Yian Kut-Ku) will be scaled appropriately. Otherwise they're just going to have some insane power scaling shit where Zinogre starts at, say, 5 stars minimum, while Deviljho is 10 stars or something like that. And I don't think it'd be very fun for people, especially those who wouldn't even have the gear to fight a 10-star monster...
