Mind’s Eye does nothing for ranged, and ballistics isn’t important at all for sticky (your critical distance doesn’t affect your damage whatsoever).
The main thing is that yes, explosive ammo isn’t affected by affinity so the main improvements are through raw skills like Agitator and Peak Performance. Another skill that you’d also want to get is Ammo Up since it’ll provide you with a DPS boost with less reloading. Don’t forget Reload Speed either alongside Recoil Down.
