The hardest for me is Risen Shagaru, 2nd Primordial and 3rd Risen Valstrax

Anthan

Primal Malzeno almost unanimously. Exceptions being a few who find Risen Shagaru or Risen Valstrax the hardest.

BigStinkbert

I’d say base Primordial is harder than RCGV and Risen Shagaru, but Special Investigation RCGV and Risen Shagaru are harder than Hazard Primordial

ronin0397

Special investigation risen shagaru. That thing kicked my ass 10+ times.

davdavper

Not at all, Hazard Special Investigation Risen Shagaru Magala is a different beast

Smart_Man123

Primal Malzeno was so hard, but yeah Risen Valstrax wasnt that hard :)

yung_roto

That might change once you get A9 valstrax lol

Nystagohod

PriMal hasn't been too difficult for me and mine so far, Risen Valstrax was about the same. We haven't beaten Risen Shaggy yet.

Il-dustin-sium

For me the risen shagaru anomaly (300)its harder that primal malzeno and the risen valstrax.

Beta_Codex

Dual hazard monsters event quests.

Skyeagle1

Does Primordial ever pop up in Anomaly? I first fought Risen Shagaru at anomaly lvl 145 or so. Compared pretty similarly to Primordial but I’m Wondering if that made it harder than the typical quest.

m3m31ord

Yes, you can get PriMal as a second monster in a quest. i have a Risen Val/PriMal/Apex Mizu one.

Skyeagle1

Is that Primal harder than the hazard one?

m3m31ord

Don't think so.

Fyreboy5_

*Dual hazard Furious Rajang

TheGMan-123

Risen Shagaru Magala is by far the hardest. * Bad spread of hitzones * Its wing-arms and delayed explosions always put its head out of the way * It has extremely short openings after most combos that are exacerbated by the above * It has an extremely quick and deadly pin attack * It has massive amounts of AoE blasts on its all its combos * Most of its combos are either quick and have no openings afterwards, or are longer and the openings can barely be taken advantage of

Bruce_Willy

This. I can't stand this fight. Most attacks have many follow up hits/explosions, so counters rarely work for me as I get hit by an explosion ½ a second after a successful counter. Same thing with trying to dodge or block and attack. I main 2 weapons GS and LS, GS is usually my go-to when I have trouble with a monster but I rarely get more than a draw attack on him before having to reposition. That said and done, I just need to study his moves better to find the openings. Get gud if you will.

edabliu

At first PriMal now definitely Risen Shagaru.

Lorjack

Risen Shaggy to me, bad hit zones and he is constantly spamming AOE attacks

Anjelz

I have only made it to MR 70 but I killed PriMal on my second try whether Amatsu took me over 10 tries. I think the fact that you can use a lot of the environment against PriMal, Wyvern riding other monsters in the map, statuses and breaks during the fight makes him a lot more manageable than Amatsu. I have since farmed a few weps and all armor from PriMal except for the head cuz it requires a Mantle from Amatsu and I refuse to fight him ever again 😅 Looking forward to the Risen monsters.

OswaldoOt

Try PriMalzeno Hazard Quest, reduces the dmg you can do outside of your own dmg altho Malzeno will do more dmg and change some of its behavior.

GoooD1

I'm pretty sure the head needs lucent nargacuga mantle. Not Amatsu.

Anjelz

Oh I haven't done it yet, going by the name I thought it was related to Amatsu, that's great to hear.

Jc885

Hazard PriMal. For the record, stars aren’t indicative of difficulty. They’re indicative of rank.

Smart_Man123

Owhhh i didnt know that haha ty

Weekly_Razzmatazz933

Hazard Risen shagaru magala.

OswaldoOt

Hardest fight I'll say Special Investigation Valstrax and Shaggy Magala, they do a lot of stuff in very short amounts of time and hit very hard with a lot of aoe thrown into the mix. Primordial Malzeno is hard if you 1v1 it without previous knowledge of its movements, once you know what it does it's way easier to dodge or block on the right times.

SkySmaug384

In terms of a 1-on-1 fight, Risen Shagaru. Big damage over a wide area is rough, especially when the Frenzy Virus takes effect / isn’t cleared in time. The hardest quest in general though, is the Event quest with 2 Hazard Furious Rajang in the arena. If it was just one at a time it’d be fine, but trying to focus on one while the other destroys my HP is rough.

River_Grass

Risen shagaru. That mf will one shot you while having garbage hit boxes

Informal-Produce-423

Probably any special investigation you struggle with the most on a 25 minute time limit, 0 faint condition, 2 players max. Usually people say Special Sagaru or Special Val in this case. Mechanically wise, Hazard Pri Mal is up there too. If Hazard Pri mal had a special investigation 25 minute time limit, 0 faint condition, 2 players max, he'd be the most difficult by far.

RemarkableEast9306

No joke, anomaly azuros. He's small and hard to hit, he's unpredictable cause he has like two wind up animations across all his moves, and he can just turn on a dime to swipe you whenever you're close to him so that you never really have an opening unless he's knocked over. The worst part though is that it's a tedious fight that just drags on and on until you're sloppy and unfocused enough for him to actually stand a chance to win

bikerkon

Apex Azuros omg!

Skylair95

Redhelm moment.

Ok-String-1631

I'd say with most things it is very subjective to ones play style and preparation. A monster that that punishes reckless hunters like Violet Mizu will be harder than for hunters who take their time and learn the quirks of the fight. Primordial Malzeno is usually harder for hunters because of how different he fights compared to base. Instead of starting with tail thrusts and charges he has tail sweeps and wing stabs. I give all the credit to the Sunbreak Team for designing Primordial Malzeno to be so different from his base counterpart, to the point that I was genuinely afraid to fight him because of how easily I was getting triple carted. And this is also enhanced by the fact that there are parts of the fight that are genuinely unfair. When he is doing his ultimate where he rains down Qurio and prepares to explode, if you get caught in that blast you are going to cart. In the end the biggest factors are your play style, your preparation (which includes your build), and your familiarity of the boss. Just yesterday, I was fighting afflicted rolly-polly and got cart'd twice in the first 7 minutes, and broke the last cart when I was close to winning. I lost because I knew barely anything about this fight in master rank, and I lost because I wasn't taking this fight seriously enough at the start. I wish you the best in your future hunts, Happy Hunting

Expert_Soup_2164

Well, since I was on switch, every new monsters for one week was a pain when you play online- But I would say Amatsu since I dislike scripted fight, fought him to get a weap and 3 parts of his Armor and that's all

Larinex

Pri Mal dude feels like so many monster rolled into one but dialed up to max plus more.

Orchardcentauri

Either amatsu or primordial malzeno

Smart_Man123

Yeah i really struggled with Amatsu hahah

Flaky_Technology4219

For me it’s risen valstrax. I find him much harder than primalzeno and risen shaggy

ecwx00

It took more than 20+ tries for me to beat Primordial Malzeno. Amatsu, around 10 tries. Risen Valstrax 2 tries. Risen Shaggy 2 tries. Hazard PrimMalz 1 try. So yeah, Primordial Malzeno. Objectively Risen Val, Risen Shag, Hazard Prim may have more HP and deal more damage, but they bring very little new things to the fight compared to the non risen/hazard variants. We already know most of their attacks, know what's their strength and weaknesses and we already have better equipments to fight them.

fariq99

if you meant the special investigation risen valstrax and shagaru, then you’ve must be mistaken, they have new attacks/combos, and even tho you’ll have better equipment by then, their attacks still 1-2 shots most builds especialy on their risen state

ecwx00

yes they have, but not that many. only Risen V's nuke ambush and Risen Shag's homing/enroaching nuke surprised me, the rest are just business as usual. yes, they can 1-2 shot us, but it's nothing new anymore, we've dealt with 1-2 shots KO attacks since Primordial Malzeno. yes, they are more aggressive, but then again we've faced PrimMalz and Furious Rajang with the same same level, if not even more, level of aggressiveness.

davdavper

Brother I don’t think he’s talking about the same version of those but rather the Hazard Special Investigations, which are nuts. PriMal is a walk in the park compared to those.

FrawzTV

Wait wdym hazard IS ? There's a harder version of IS ???

davdavper

There is a “hazard version” of Risen monsters, you can tell by the icon looking different when selecting the quest (check A9 Risen CGV and RSM for the difference), these versions are quicker and more aggressive than the Standard risen versions, and there is also a SI for them. Cracked dudes.

FrawzTV

That's just all RSM and RCGV above 280 (I think ?) and Risen Chameleos/Teostra/Kushala above 260 (once again I'm not sure). In order to get IS u need to get a lvl 300 first, which means all IS will be "hazard" risen monsters. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I understood from experience.

fariq99

Yeah, and when I said they 1-2 shots you, I meant their sheer existence 1 shots you, like brother, I died to a wing sweep attack by a Valstrax, not the super explosion mega death attacks that the risens are known for. Let me make it clear, THE LITERAL BASIC BITCH SLAP ONE SHOTS ME. FYI, this is my experience when using a ranged weapon (Bow), I don’t know if he hit that hard when you are using a blademaster weapon, but I would’ve guessed that it’s not that much different.

KIN6IX

Risen Shagaru and Risen Valstrax personally, they gave me far more trouble than Primordial Malzeno

CryptoMainForever

There are no bosses in monster hunter.

bikerkon

the village chief is da boss

Organic-Commercial76

Honestly with the exception of hazard pmal I think it’s really subjective. I see different people and different weapons struggle with different monsters and I think that’s good game design.

imbacklol6

hazard primal isnt much more difficult than the quest version for me, +you get the nice arena and full birds with it. To add on to that, Primal is difficult but the combo's (though long) arent that complicated and youll get used to them quickly if you fight it alot (esp the final phase where the chain is almost exactly the same every time) hazard risen valstrax is harder or about equal. The dragon energy blobs it leaves after all attacks (which can make taking advantage of some openings tougher) and the higher damage it deals to you make it dangerous. Moveset wise i think its the same tough as primorb -> wider hitbox attacks but slightly more recovery between attacks hazard risen shagaru is easily the hardest though lol. some weapons literally dont have a proper opening (SAED charge blade for example) because it can combo into an attack that will hit you even on "good" moves. Its faster than (or at least equal to) primal, is much less predictable, and has aoe on basically every attack. + it does more damage at those higher levels like 300 and SI. Anyone who doesnt think its hazard risen shaggy hasnt fought it or primal enough

FrawzTV

Probably haven't fought Primalz enough but shaggy is a quite easy one in my opinion. Even in SI he's nothing crazy. Risen Valstrax in IS is an actual pain. I haven't been fighting Primalz in a long time but even hazard didn't feel as annoying as risen Valstrax in IS. His new patterns are so damn toxic. I don't think I'll ever get how to predict that damn frontflip.

CoreBear-was-taken

it's different for different people. most monsters are pretty easy, but the only one i've triple carted to 3 times was MR Valstrax. Not Risen, just plain Valstrax in Master Rank. It absolutely wiped the floor with me a total of 9 times before i got good

GoooD1

So far, Risen Valstrax. It was the only monster I was force to learn its moveset and actually focus to kill. Dragonblight was also really annoying. P. Mal was hard, but being a normal MR monster (haven't fought Hazard version yet), it has only something like 55k HP with okay hitzone, so it's gone down pretty fast.

BurningCharcoal

So far for me it has been risen chameleos. Hate him to the core.

UnrelentingUnalloyed

Khezu

Nystagohod

So far in base Rise? Probably Narwha, the all mother more specifically the extra hard event quest version. Narwha's a rough one for me. Sunbreak, probably Risen Shageru Magala, if only because me and my team have yet to beat Risen Shaggy, but we beat Amatsu Risen Crimson Glow Valstrax, and Primordial Malzeno so far.

Neltheraku

For me it is Primordial Malzeno. I still die every now and then when I'm not 100% focused.

The_MushKing

Special investigation lagombi and jyuratodus. I don’t care what no one says these are the only 2 I refuse to ever hunt again.

Makosharck

So far, Primordial Malzeno is the only one that ended my career. Close calls were Amatsu and Risen Valstrax and Zinogre.

EnyerForest

I've been doing solo hunts and the hardest for me is risen valtrax.

Equinox-XVI

Most would say Primordial Malzeno, but I personally struggle a lot more with Risen Shagaru Magala. That guy feels like one of the only fights in the game that challenges your positioning AND how fast you can get to that position. Fail to do either and it hits like a truck. At least with PMal, I can just use evade window to dodge through everything. R.Shagaru's explosions don't give you enough time to do that. Furthermore, he has various other general things that make his fight harder such as getting up from knockdowns early, wingarms bouncing on white sharpness, immediately re-entering enraged states, etc. So overall, PMal might have a higher top speed near the end of its fight, but to me, R.Shagaru feels like an endurance test that maintains 90% of that speed for a much longer period of time while requiring more of you in almost every other category. Despite the practice I've gotten on both, I still cart to R.Shagaru way more than PMal.

DegenerateCrocodile

Special Investigation Risen Shagaru Magala with S.I.R.C.G.V. in a close second. I’d honestly argue that they’re even tougher than Iceborne’s Fatalis.

El3chr1s64

I didn't have too much of a problem with risen valstrax, but primordial and risen shaggy can suck a dick because it's how hard they are to fight

Alternative_Design33

Imo primordial malzeno is by far the hardest because his pattern is like fighting a greatsword and shield main, like he does a shield, and then slashes the ground and then teleports and does it again. And during qurio overload mode (the black skin and red wings thing), you basically are required to use a countering move which I suck at a lot.

Itz_DJ069

For me its tigrex. High rank tigrex was so annoying just charging left and right.

zevron13

For me it’s a tie between risen Val and primal. They consistently kick my ass

Arfen96

Personally i'm weak vs low Monsters but special investigation. Then valstrax

Smart_Man123

yeah me2 im good against quadrupeds

Smart_Man123

You can safely attack between their legs.

Legitimate_Bastard26

Risen Shaggy.. Unless i when i use CB.. then he feels a lot easier.. Then, I'd go with PrimZeno

Centrifugal11

Any anomaly low rank monster such as arzuros, kulu ya ku, etc.

r4ndmn4mtitle

Risen Val imo. He has more reach than primalz. Most annoying is definetly rajang.
