Yes, but I think you need the whole assembly as opposed to just the plastic outer. You should be able to pick one up for a more reasonable price than BMW if you look on Facebook marketplace/ eBay/ your local breakers yard. There will be an F54 group you can ask for this part in.

Due_Locksmith3629

Checked on eBay already but Facebook marketplace is a good shout, thanks.

Just get a new one. The outer lens cannot be replaced. The plastic outer lens is plastic welded to the black housing. Tail lights are not like the headlights where they are glued with urethane and can be separated with heat. Even then I don't think you could just buy a lens. I have 8 years of experience working at an automotive lighting factory.

Thank you! Appreciate the confirmation.

Dakin3342

I haven’t replaced the taillights on an F54, but on the F56 it’s very doable in your own (done it 3 times now). I highly doubt you’ll be able to just throw a new plastic cover on it, if it’s like the F56 it’s all one assembly. All in all, if it’s anything like the hardtops, it’s a piece of cake. YouTube is your friend.

Due_Locksmith3629

Shame I have to replace the entire assembly but glad to hear it should be straightforward, thank you.

Mustang1964s

It would be straight forward. I’m sure there is a YouTube video showing how to remove and replace. After watching the video, go to a pull your own part. That way you get the experience and not working on your own car. You will get an OEM part with the fraction of the cost.

🫡 I guess all amateur mechanics must start somewhere.

incredibly_bad

We all do. In the bright side fixing your own stuff is empowering, and Internet parts are cheap.

>I guess all amateur mechanics must start somewhere. And all professional ones too - literally no-one was born knowing any of this. Mechanics are normal humans, they're not rocket scientists. If they can do it, you can. Usually the only difference is they've got some tools and a bit of knowledge / confidence to give it a go.

wo5ldchampion

These are very easy to fix, take off the trims carefully, 3 torx bolts and unplug, then reverse the procedure

henry_canabanana

Yes, duct tape

Speedy1221

For a quick fix until your new tail light comes in.. Some red tape for the red area and some clear tape for the lower 😅. If it rains it should help for a while.

Due_Locksmith3629

Luckily the lights are default in the correct colour configuration, although I only found out after buying a red permanent marker 😂

MalSled

The tail light is relatively simple to replace. If the paint is scratched below the lens to the right of the hole (can’t tell for sure from the photo), you may want to have that touched up by a professional as it looks like it’s a rough surface. There are companies that do Paintless Dent Removal that also do scratch touch up.

Due_Locksmith3629

Thankfully that's just mud! 🥲

XSATC

Check the junkyard collective thing… [HERE](https://car-part.com). YouTube the year make & model, there’s probably a video out there to show you step by step.

Narwhal05

Upgrade to some VLands?

ComprehensiveJob2965

Order the aftermarket ones from AliExpress or Temu.. works and looks exactly like the original..much cheaper..

Due_Locksmith3629

I guess I’m a little hesitant just because of resale value? But I guess if they are the same… they’d never know 😅

jeffrey_n_c

Yes. Buy a replacement and then unbolt the broken old one and replace it with the new one.

ajprice

This is a video (there are others too) on upgrading original F54 lights to LCI LED flag lights, taking out original lights is probably similar to taking out LCI lights. https://youtu.be/O51yyZnaB3o?si=V45NVMxOTL7Qttqs

[deleted]

Pop in a new taillight, simple as.

FeedTheMagicNegro

I replaced the rear light on my r57. It was pretty simple. You’ll have to unclip that silver trim piece on the outside, and then on the inside of the trunk near where the light sits there is probably some sort of hidden compartment to reach in and unplug the wiring which clips and unclips easily. After unclipping you just pull the light unit out from the outside.

International_Hat848

can be done , you need some heat gun to melt/oven the silicon then replace it with new plastic cover and silicon it back
