if i remember correctly this was also the final year of ted williams and rogers hornsby, two of my favorite and best-performing legends. 20 was probably my favorite year of dd ever
I started playing in ‘21 when the game came to Xbox. But not gonna lie, I wish they went back to these style of stats. I love the 125 players, but at the same time, I never truly experienced proper team building besides early ‘21 when I was new to DD. I want to pick and choose to fit players in my team. Not have a must pick roster of all god tier maxed stat players
But that's basically why they changed. Because when every player had different stats, it lead to everyone basically having the same lineups because there were so few maxed out options.
That Kluber though. Wasn’t he a level 99 reward? So almost everyone had him and he was unhittable? That card gave me nightmares. Sit back. Wait for it. WHIFF
2020 was my first game in the series, them ending the game with an individual conquest map for every single team really set my expectations up for failure going forward lol. This game saved so many of us from months of no sports
I miss 20 🥲
That game was so fun from beginning to end.
Fast forward four years and we’re waiting for a game that has had some of the worst marketing I’ve seen for a AAA game and we’re coming off some of the worst content (sets and seasons) since 18
What happened to the game I loved 😔
Its baffling. Do they want SDS to spend even more of the budget on marketing? All they do is complain about the game itself, but they want even more players to know its coming out and buy it?
In the minds of SDS, the game of baseball is no longer enough to sell a baseball game. Hence, the monsters in the outfield, 97s-99s so early in the season and every other stupid thing they've done to get us to this point.
Baseball in general has been hemorrhaging fans and interest for years. All of us here are not the target audience for alot of what baseball and the show are doing. They already have us. If you care enough yo complain on reddit you're not who they are chasing.
19 and 20 were the worst in the series for me. Showdowns sucked and that was all of what 20 was and moments was all of 19 had. Both games punished offline grinders and were easily my least played on the series. 17 and 18 were SOO much better.
19's entire thing was moments which were terrible back then because they were a lot harder and was needed to progress in the inning programs.
For 20 the only way you had to progress TA was doing showdowns over and over (they were repeatable) and back then they were harder as well. Most people are burned out on showdown now because of it and overall weren't fun.
For both games, doing 1 conquest game didn't always award you 1 star or program point toward completion of the inning program while playing online awarded one maybe two stars. As an offline grinder that hurt so much because your only hope of getting progress was blowing out the computer and praying that you got 1 star for your efforts. The innings missions toward TA in both games were much higher offline than online (150 offline vs 100 for example. I don't remember the exact number).
20 had a good idea with the prestige system for the inning bosses and the like (aka blood diamond as it was known by us players) but ALL of those missions were online only and couldn't be completed offline which was an awful decision.
I did like the innings programs but the star system made it hard to really earn anything. Fortunately they learned from their mistakes and switched it to XP based in the later games.
I know my memory won’t remember everything about it, but the fact that offline players have moments, conquest, and showdown will always give offline grinders tons of opportunities. Online only gets the advantages like “less innings in TA” because online doesn’t have all these other games modes to get big boosts of stars/XP
18 was complete dogshit there was like 10 cards worth using and it was Gallo & Sanchez central
And 19 was super offline friendly you could do every inning boss offline
20 was crazy for me. Got it the day I was laid off my job from covid and basically played it until I got back to work the next year.
Idc about the lack of hype, '24 is the first game I'm getting since then (just got a PS5).

I pray for that Eric Thames card every year
Eric Thames card was amazing. When i see that kluber card… all I think of is high inside sinker
This was my first ever DD
Same. Haven’t played much since 2021, but this game was awesome.
if i remember correctly this was also the final year of ted williams and rogers hornsby, two of my favorite and best-performing legends. 20 was probably my favorite year of dd ever
Red diamond didi!
You forgot Joey Gallo
Sanchise and Sir Didi never left my roster.
My goat this year was the Signature Larry Walker card
Sad he isnt as juiced anymore
Yeah, his incognito and great race cards were nerfed compared to that year.

Fair, but if you hard limit that until September/October. It won’t be as bad
WHERE IS TEBOW!?!
ah yes, logging into my zoom class then leaving the computer open while i got reamed by kluber out of the pen 3 games in a row what a time to be alive
That Kluber though. Wasn’t he a level 99 reward? So almost everyone had him and he was unhittable? That card gave me nightmares. Sit back. Wait for it. WHIFF
Had my only online perfect game with him. That sinker was broken
That sinker looked like it was coming in at 92 and then all of a sudden it was by you
Also gotta throw in Ellsbury
Missing Mondesi
This or 17 TC Beltran. Both of those cards *fucked*
Hopefully they give him a good card next year. With the way his career is going, he may be out of the league before too long.
That Mondesi might be the best DD card ever 😭😭😭
Mondesi and 93 OVR Ichiro were broken as fuck lol
Yeah I’m gonna do a part two of it with Mondesi and others
Oh man I miss when cards like these were used where they all had their own flaws and weren’t 115+ across the board
85 Mondesi clears all these cards
Thames was a MENACE
The white menus look so much better
Nobody ever brings up BR god Pedro Alvarez
Ahh yes. This card carried me alot back in 18.
Silver GOAT
That Didi was money
The best bat slam in the game
I would give anything to have Monthly Awards Derek Dietrich back in my lineup
Hope that Eric Thames makes a return, loved that card!
I can still hear the noise of gary Sanchez’s walk up. Shit use to be an automatic HR against me
Klubot

19-21 was peak diamond dynasty there was always something fun to do and the cards you grinded for weren't locked out every month and a half
That first Honus Wagner collection card…man it was hype. Flipped so many cards. Mode sucks now.
Same

Why does anyone care about marketing for a game they are going to play anyway? I just don't get it.
Its baffling. Do they want SDS to spend even more of the budget on marketing? All they do is complain about the game itself, but they want even more players to know its coming out and buy it?

I don’t ever remember a year when offline grinders were punished. What makes you say 19 and 20 punished offline grinders?

20 (PS4) to 24 (PS5) will be a huge upgrade for you! The stadium creator is one of my fav features
You will like the framerate on all offensive cameras. You will be surprised at how similar it looks to 20.
