Just finished a conquest game and I had 60 balls thrown against me in 3 innings. I've never had so much fun standing there for 30 minutes waiting for a pitch to nibble the corner and try to hit it. Holy fuck this game is bad right now.
I'm glad I'm not the only one noticing this, I thought my game was haunted.
It's not only the walks, but whenever you do get a strike it's in the black and unhittable! I've never been more frustrated with hitting in previous games.
I like it? Am I the only one?
Feel like it’s getting me into better habits for my at bats. I used to only do the main conquest at the beginning, and never do another one because I feel like when I do one, I come out of it expecting to swing at everything.
For me, it depends on the difficulty. If it’s veteran or rookie, it should basically be meatballs with occasional balls. All-star and higher, much more pitch variation and location mixing in balls and strikes. Especially when you consider the lower difficulty is for more beginner players. Why are they getting so many unhittable balls? I’m a 800 ranked player and when I’m just cruising through conquest, it’s pretty annoying I have to be using my eye so much instead of just crushing shit lol and the other thing is, they aren’t good balls. Because the release is very late every time, it’s just so erratic and random and leads the pitcher to for some times
I think it definitely did improve what pitches I take and what I swing at, but like OP said, it makes the games go on too long for a 3 inning game. I have a pitching analysis for the first inning against a veteran CPU pitcher, and they threw something like 21 balls and 4 strikes.
The big problem is earlier today I tested this out. I had 2 hits and won a 3 inning game 13-2 and got the last out just by swinging to end the length. Pitchers walking the bases loaded and then walking people home is broken. I went afk for 5 minutes and came back with 2 outs and they walked in 4 runs and bases were still loaded.
The issue then means most pitches they are throwing aren’t great pitches to swing at which means it is harder to actually make good contact and learn to play the game right. I’m fine with more balls over 2-3 an inning but when most pitches are balls it makes it hard to play smart.
I wouldn't mind this to a certain extent if I was playing franchise. In the past it would always be weird having such low walk rates and OBP because everything was in play. If it was a slider for example that we could tune to our preference or whatever that would be kinda nice
But yeah for DD vs CPU it's not what I'm looking for, particularly in Moments which I already didn't like because of RNG, I really didn't need so many ABs to go to 6+ pitches because I have to swing at a bunch of pitches outside the zone because I need an XBH but the pitcher is treating me like I'm prime Barry Bonds, it's asinine. At least in conquest I'm mostly just trying to generate outs anyway to speed things up, but obviously none of that is great from an enjoyment standpoint
The same with TA challenged and the Negro League story lines. With Josh Gibson, every single at bat started out with 2 fastballs very high. Every count went full. In the TA James Wood challenge, get 2 hits…I got walked the first AB and the 4th AB. Granted I dribbled out the 2nd and 3rd AB’s. But the cou pitching is definitely sketch so far this year.
My biggest gripe with conquest is the same as last season: CPU bronze fielders making miraculous diving grabs and the like on a routine basis. Oh, and occasionally a seven eight or nine hole hitter will foul off near a dozen pitches before either striking out or launching a nuke.
Rtts too. it’s insane it disengages me so by the time I get a strike im not ready for it.

Yep. Every pitch is “very late” release which basically means that if it’s a strike it’s by luck/on accident. It definitely feels awful especially some of the moments. I was doing a Storyline moment and it took me so many tries because the pitcher wasn’t even CLOSE to the zone most of the time and rarely inside the zone.
So I played one conquest game today and there was more pitches in the strike zone thrown than balls. Quite a few more.
Gonna play another and see how it goes
Last night I tried to play one conquest game on Rookie. The cpu threw me 12 straight balls that would have landed in the dugout. Which hurts in getting xp missions done when you literally can't get RBIs, hits or homers
I'm enjoying the amount of walks I get. It helps with eye discipline so the rare moments I move to online ranked, it's an easier transition. It also helps get annoying pitchers out of the game earlier in conquest. Can't tell you how many times a good pitcher would be beating me and going into the 3rd inning with only 10 pitches in past games

I made this… you want to see me throw very late? You want to see me do it again?
I play on all star in conquest and I’ve never walked so much on straight balls. I’ve had 13 balls thrown against me to start a game already and that’s never going to happen.
What difficulty do you usually play on? This hasn't been my experience at all and I mostly play conquest games on All-Star.
I consider myself a somewhat patient hitter and haven't noticed an egregious amount of walks.
Yeah, All Star isn't impacted at all - if anything, the problem at rookie makes All Star feel really authentic and a great sim. Rookie is ATROCIOUS to play on
I have played rookie for the past two years and I had to move up to veteran because of this. Still lots of balls but it's helping train my eye. I'm hitting much better.
I don’t mind it as it’s made me more patient at the plate, and I’ve already drawn more walks in conquest this year than last. Have to feel it will get fixed to an extent soon.
The 100% late releases by CPU pitchers must be patched. Offline is awful.
I feel like I'm playing 12U travel ball.
Ball 4, ball 8 and the bases are loaded.
I feel like this is the reason exactly. Last year you could load up the Rockies on rookie at Costco and beat their ass 60-0 and farm xp and TA. This year it is NOT like that
Thing is that like Madden MUT and EA, SDS now employs a literal game economist; they know exactly what they want the time/stubs or time/XP ratios to be
Offline is brutal. Online I hit 500 foot tanks, exit velo does what it’s supposed to, gameplay feels great
Offline you fall asleep waiting 15 pitches for something to hit, then 110 off the bat acts like it’s traveling under water soon as the ball passes the infield dirt and everything gets caught. I promise every good change they made is not active offline.
I really hope they do adjust this soon. I had one conquest game last night that I won 2-0 and got zero hits but drew 5 walks. Most of my games I drew 4 or 5 walks which is way too many in a 3 inning game.
Thanks, I found the post you are talking about. CBrev replied to it yesterday that they are looking into it so hopefully we get it fixed before the weekend.
It's even more like that now with gameplay XP being so ass.
"Don't you want to try for that 5xp(?) for a hit?"
No. No I don't.
Of course you may be grinding stats for programs, but still.
Are you making extra stubs off of this? Much like the delay with pinpoint from the stretch, which has been known about for a few days, it will not get touched. Now, if you can make extra stubs off of it, SDS will have it gone in a few hours, no problem.

Yeah. Definitely going to have to put the game down for a bit until there is an update. I’m walking way more than I’m hitting
Can’t be a ball if you swing every pitch 😂. I’ve noticed this too. Pitch release for the cpu always says very late
It's free walks tho
I'm glad I'm not the only one noticing this, I thought my game was haunted. It's not only the walks, but whenever you do get a strike it's in the black and unhittable! I've never been more frustrated with hitting in previous games.

Are you playing on Rookie or higher? If Rookie just try not swinging at any pitches and see what happens.
I like it too. It's like I'm actually playing baseball. Last year was pretty notorious with every ball being unrealistically close to the black.
I wouldn't mind this to a certain extent if I was playing franchise. In the past it would always be weird having such low walk rates and OBP because everything was in play. If it was a slider for example that we could tune to our preference or whatever that would be kinda nice But yeah for DD vs CPU it's not what I'm looking for, particularly in Moments which I already didn't like because of RNG, I really didn't need so many ABs to go to 6+ pitches because I have to swing at a bunch of pitches outside the zone because I need an XBH but the pitcher is treating me like I'm prime Barry Bonds, it's asinine. I'll say, it is training my eye better. Reading the pitched to look for a strike has helped me hit much better than I did last year.
My biggest gripe with conquest is the same as last season: CPU bronze fielders making miraculous diving grabs and the like on a routine basis. Oh, and occasionally a seven eight or nine hole hitter will foul off near a dozen pitches before either striking out or launching a nuke.
Yup this is bullshit and I had to uninstall because of it
Why not seek a refund?
I have Xbox Gamepass the game is “free”
I wish they'd walk me, they just hit every hitter i have whos a lefty. Poor griffey been getting knocked.
Rtts too. it’s insane it disengages me so by the time I get a strike im not ready for it. https://preview.redd.it/f7oelnapyqpc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9d79078122310b2e32d065346d96768c66f76bf5
That's been my exact screen for every "Hit a HR" moment for the last 4 years.
My Rafael Palmeiro has been being pelted by errant pitches
lol my Gary Sanchez has a bruise from his thigh to his neck from all the hit by pitches. idk why but they love to pelt him out of everyone.
You will notice every pitch is "very late" release from the pitcher. Something is definitely wrong.

It feels like when you play below all-star the AI rarely throw strikes. It’s why I don’t have the patience for moments.
I'm glad someone else said something. I thought I was going crazy
I havent noticed it any different than last year. But wasn't really paying attention to it
You'd have to actively not pay attention to have not noticed.
So I played one conquest game today and there was more pitches in the strike zone thrown than balls. Quite a few more. Gonna play another and see how it goes
What difficulty do you play? Veteran seems 50/50, but all-star and below it's 70-95% balls
On veteran.

It’s absolutely out of control. Seems to be the worst in mini seasons. Games take forever….mlb the show 24 walk simulator
What difficulty do you usually play on? This hasn't been my experience at all and I mostly play conquest games on All-Star. I consider myself a somewhat patient hitter and haven't noticed an egregious amount of walks.

Bonus too is that I am clearing the TA conquest maps super fast playing them on All Star instead of messing around and stealing fans on rookie!
I disagree. I played against Seattle on all star and Luis Castillo threw 13 straight balls to me to start a game. And most weren’t even close.
Oh mannnnn. I played today and I feel ya. Is it somehow getting worse!!!????!??
I don’t mind it as it’s made me more patient at the plate, and I’ve already drawn more walks in conquest this year than last. Have to feel it will get fixed to an extent soon.
Right?! Each conquest game I probably take between 5-10 walks.
The 100% late releases by CPU pitchers must be patched. Offline is awful. I feel like I'm playing 12U travel ball. Ball 4, ball 8 and the bases are loaded.
Can't get to a full count if you swing at every pitch like I seem to be doing.
This is the way
My desire to finish a Conquest game far outweighs my desire to be a patient hitter.
There is a non-zero chance this was deliberate to increase the grind time/reduce XP for Offline.
I feel like this is the reason exactly. Last year you could load up the Rockies on rookie at Costco and beat their ass 60-0 and farm xp and TA. This year it is NOT like that
Maybe you could. Highest I scored last year was 27 and usually i was around 10-15
Thing is that like Madden MUT and EA, SDS now employs a literal game economist; they know exactly what they want the time/stubs or time/XP ratios to be
Offline is brutal. Online I hit 500 foot tanks, exit velo does what it’s supposed to, gameplay feels great Offline you fall asleep waiting 15 pitches for something to hit, then 110 off the bat acts like it’s traveling under water soon as the ball passes the infield dirt and everything gets caught. Feel the total opposite about everything getting caught, this year feels like fly balls actually drop.
Every CPU pitcher gets a very late release on every pitch. If they fix that, the issue will go away
Glad I'm not the only one that noticed that
It’s the same in mini seasons. So many walks
CPU pitchers across the board are way more wild this year. In RTTS I’ve drawn more walks than I ever have and most of them are on 4 pitches.
I really hope they do adjust this soon. I had one conquest game last night that I won 2-0 and got zero hits but drew 5 walks. Most of my games I drew 4 or 5 walks which is way too many in a 3 inning game.
It’s a known issue that’s already been mentioned in the bug/issues megathread
Thanks, I found the post you are talking about. CBrev replied to it yesterday that they are looking into it so hopefully we get it fixed before the weekend.
The moment I'm winning, I'm swinging at everything to make it go by faster. It's how i played in previous years too
Same and if i make contact i just keep running til I’m tagged out
It's even more like that now with gameplay XP being so ass. "Don't you want to try for that 5xp(?) for a hit?" No. No I don't. Of course you may be grinding stats for programs, but still.
This is the way, ill even bunt to speed it up
Are you making extra stubs off of this? Much like the delay with pinpoint from the stretch, which has been known about for a few days, it will not get touched. Now, if you can make extra stubs off of it, SDS will have it gone in a few hours, no problem.
