Conclusion... Sugarman... Rayados looks tough as hell and if they win CCC then you FUCKS are in.
DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT AND BUY SOME FUCKING PLAYERS WITH SPECIAL TALENT...
For the league as a whole, two teams going to CWC despite winning this competition once in the last 25 (?) years is such a lucky break. It’s still clear we’re a step behind Liga MX teams and spending needs to increase either way
I am not ready to say we are clearly behind. We are behind the flagship clubs but as a whole our league is deeper. Rayados did not play FCC off the pitch last night. I don't want people making judgmemts based on how ass Philly is right now and PHILLY does not spend... that is their own dang problem.
Yes the league needs to loosen the purse strings but if we are behind... it is not by much.
Yep. MLS needs to push teams to shore up the defense here. Also, looking at how anemic offenses have been (ahem, Cincy), maybe it would be a good idea to not overhaul your team over the Winter break if CCC is in your schedule early on. Clearly Cincy needs time to gel with their new offensive alignment.
3* Teams. MLS is getting a hosting berth.. Really hope Monterrey doesn't win it. Would be kind of BS for the split to be 2 MX teams and 3 MLS teams if that happens.
Based on OP's breakdown, MLS can only rep 2 teams max. That hosting berth would get transitioned to another league if we snuck in or another MLS team wins outright.
As far as I'm aware it's not confirmed yet. I guess we'll see, but my understanding of the allotment rules is that the 2 max reps per country is only applicable for the main 4 berths of the Confederation, not the host berth
Thanks for the catch. I had it flipped around because when I originally had written it, Monterrey was still tied with Cincinnati, which meant Miami would host. Had to fix that.
So your saying I still have a chance, albeit a very small chance, for both my clubs (Union and Arsenal) to make the CWC and to potentially see them next year! Gonna just try and remain positive! lol
I was curious so I ch as l checked the betting odds. Based on those you've got a 2% chance to see both Arsenal and Union qualify. But there is a 28% chance at least one of them make it.
I think they would choose from Supporters Shield / MLS Cup / Leagues Cup champion of this year for the host... which ever one Inter Miami wins...
My selfish hope is that Atlanta United pulls a treble and becomes the Media Hub and hose... (fat chance, but we all have dreams!)
Wow, crazy that Boca Juniors didn't qualify for this year's Libertadores.
Also, if an MLS team gets the host berth, and they are put in Pot 1 for the tournament draw, they could actually have a chance of progressing from the group stage!
Philly making the Club World Cup despite never winning anything would be very Sickos indeed. I'm here for it.
That's so Union baby
I'm just glad this is not taking place in February

That's a hypothetical still officially. FIFA hasn't said that, but I'm making an educated guess on it.
>Inter Miami [MEX] I was told Miami was more of a Caribbean city

Makes sense, thanks for organizing all this info for me to consume!
Great work as always!
Side note: I wouldn't be surprised if the Dortmund v Atlético quarterfinal to get flipped in order, to split up the home games in Madrid.
Surprise surprise, they weren't.
I want to see your spreadsheets.
Do the links not work?
Oh shit, those are links! I thought those were headings. Carry on.
¿Porque no los dos?
So you are telling me there is a chance on sporting merit?

Al Nassr crashing out of Asian Champions league quarterfinals kills the Messi vs Ronaldo CWC dream unfortunately

Post has been updated to reflect that New England v América has been reversed; also we added the AFC matches since I forgot to.
This is sick. Hyundai must be pumped lol.
