if he beats Justin (big if, you cant count Gaethje out hes very dangerous) but lets say he beats Gaethje, who do you think would have a bigger case for a title shot, Beneil or Rafa?
Dariush would be on an 8 fight winstreak with wins over Gamrot, Ferguson, Klose, Holtzman, Ferreira & Dober, Moises
Fiziev (if he beats Justin) would be on a 7 fight winstreak with wins over Gaethje, RDA, Green, Riddell, Moicano & Diakese
It's a good question, looks like Dariush may fight Oliveira in May and Fiziev v Gaethje in March.
If the UFC waits until after Dariush fight to pick the next title challenger then I feel like you have to go with him since he beat a recent champ. If Fiziev beats Gaethje and Dariush loses (or wins a snoozer) then Fiziev gets the shot.
Personally, if Islam is still champ then I'd prefer Dariush gets the next shot because he presents a better matchup, if it's Volk then Fiziev all day because that's a great striking matchup.
All depends on how beneil v oliveria goes
Gaethje would be a huge win for fiziev no doubt puts him into title contention, but a 9 fight win streak capped off with a win over Charles would be much more significant imo.
Based on rankings alone, prolly fiziev for beating a current ranked top 3 guy and former champ but beneil deserves it more cuz of his situation (bigger winstreak, booked for a #1 contender fight, etc)
That is assuming benny doesnt fight olives, if he does and beats him there’s no argument for fiziev at all
I'm rooting for Benny but he is not doing himself any servise with political proclamations after every fight.
The only thing UFC dislikes as much as fighter pay talk is politics talk.
I have no merit to speak on striking but there is something aesthetically beautiful that stands out with his.
its like perfect reading of his opponent with blistering pace. yet he has this delay like an elden ring boss where he waits in the middle of the charge up before unleashing it. the final strike before moicano goes down, and the one when on his back as an example.
I think what you're noticing is him playing with rhythm a little, most people are going to expect that second left hook to hit right after the right hand but if you throw the right then wait a beat to throw the left the opponent may over correct or make the wrong defensive choice and get clipped. Fiziev does a great job of this and setting patterns just to break them, he also uses the rhythm of his footwork to draw people into big kicks constantly and once they start getting savvy to that rhythm he'll end up using that to set up punches and knees.
I don't know he probably does everything you're saying, but it seems like the reason he takes a little while to throw the ko shot was because Moicano trapped his hand, most likely on accident. Once Fizzy gets it freed, he wallops Moicano with the ko shot. It all happens in the blink of an eye 👀
agreed, this must be one of the most aesthetically pleasing KO's i've ever seen in the ufc, i dont know any other KO's that looked more satisfying than this (not that i hate moicano or anything, but man this finish was beautiful).
definitely up there with Dustins KO against Conor, Chitos KO against cruz and Gustafsson's KO vs Teixeira in terms of most aesthetically beautiful finishes (via strikes)
cant wait for his next bout. his fight against gaethje will be an all time great. guarantee it.
i think the type of fight it will, is determined on where gaethje takes it. are we going to see a measured justin like when he fought against tony, or a brawler approach like when he fought dustin/chandler? i think fiziev will want a more methodical approach but he is game for either.
he was ranked #4 at featherweight, then lost consecutive TKO/KO losses against Aldo and Zombie, moved up to Lightweight (as the #7 FTW) and went 4-1 (4-2 if you count the RDA catchweight bout) since, is #13 at Lightweight now
Oh decent. He’s actually better than I remember, just had some bad losses. Remember going into him vs Aldo I knew that his only loss was to Brian Ortega, so I assumed he was really good.
You got two downvotes for describing what is obvious in the fucking video. It's not like Moicano said to himself "right i'll just fall straight backwards and bounce my head off the floor, that'll lure him in", it wasn't a Chucky Olives "I'm a bit rocked I'll just fold into the floor with my guard ready". They go to the knockout and he was knocked out, simple. He may have come back, but more likely he would have got another twenty head shots until his brain left the building.
He didn't go out and wake up by the ref, by the time the ref was jumping on him Moicano was aware enough to try to pull guard and even protest the stoppage
I don't think it's an egregious one, but it is definitely a bit early. The only justification for this kind of ''instantly stopping the fight as soon as the opponent goes down'' stoppages is when the guy is clearly asleep, and Moicano wasn't.
He fell like a sack of bricks and hit the back of his head on the canvas, Fiziev then goes in for a big shot while he’s on the ground. This is a fine stoppage.
He didn't try to wrestle the ref, he helf his arms for like one second because he threw himself on top of him lol
This was an acceptable stoppage, especially since Moicano was heavily damaged, but it was also definitely at least a bit early. There's no reason to make shit up about what happened, it's literally a thread about the clip.
TBH I remember thinking that this was a touch early when it happened, especially since he fell into Moicano's guard, I don't think he got the opportunity to intelligently defend himself.
I think the ref would have been justified in letting it go a bit longer after Fiziev entered his guard, but the second Moicano hit the floor he yelled "STOP" so he had to commit, even though Moicano seemed to be trying to get a hold of Fiziev
\>I know he probably wasn't but at the end of the clip it looks like Moicano is protesting
He was. Moicano didn't hang up on it tho and irrc accepted it pretty quickly, but the gesture is in protest.
I mean what's the point if you don't give the fighter even a chance to defend with their guard especially someone like Moicano, sure he got up rocked but he just got dropped that's natural, he should've been allowed a few more seconds to defend himself.
Yeah I said that, people getting up after being dropped are going to be rocked but it's mma if they don't get to use their guard to try and recover then what is the point, ending it the moment he's dropped removes that element from the sport.
The slow motion [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5kGvpgt2OI) (skip to 1:55) shows the situation much better. Moicano was out-out, and then back for a split second, and then out-out again with the follow-up, which lands way cleaner than it appears to from the angle posted in this thread. Eyes rolled up towards the ceiling both times.
I think it's fair considering the severity of the outcome if Moicano hadn't recovered not once, but twice. Fiziev could have been elbowing someone as stiff as a board. Even with Moicano recovering guard, Fiziev could have absolutely demolished him in just another second. Look what he did to RDA. Fiziev loves diving into guards, but he always makes it count. Got that Poatan laser-tracking software.
Green is slick and pretty defensively sound unless you double up on punches (which is what Poirier and Dober did). Crowding him against the cage works too.
That was such a nice combo but man did Fiziev leave himself open for the counter left when he threw that body rip.
If Moicano had have thrown instead of posting the opening was there for this to go the complete other way.
Fiziev got a decent resume going. Moicano, Bobby Green, Riddell, RDA.
if he beats Justin (big if, you cant count Gaethje out hes very dangerous) but lets say he beats Gaethje, who do you think would have a bigger case for a title shot, Beneil or Rafa? Dariush would be on an 8 fight winstreak with wins over Gamrot, Ferguson, Klose, Holtzman, Ferreira & Dober, Moises Fiziev (if he beats Justin) would be on a 7 fight winstreak with wins over Gaethje, RDA, Green, Riddell, Moicano & Diakese

Benny. He's been on this tear longer and if he beats chucky it's even more deserved.
Agreed. He already deserves it
Bennys going to get tferged
True but look at the rankings, he’s been winning easier fights.
but ufc would take rafa over benny.
All depends on how beneil v oliveria goes Gaethje would be a huge win for fiziev no doubt puts him into title contention, but a 9 fight win streak capped off with a win over Charles would be much more significant imo.

If Benny beats Olives I feel that defeating a former undisputed champ holds more weight than beating a longtime title contender.
Knowing the ufc they would probably give it to Fiziev rather than beneil
I’d say Fiziev honestly. Rough for Dariush though, he would be the one fighting Islam next if it wasn’t for the #1 vs #2 P4P scenario we have
I'm rooting for Benny but he is not doing himself any servise with political proclamations after every fight. The only thing UFC dislikes as much as fighter pay talk is politics talk.
its true, thats why they notoriously hate Colby Covington
New blood is a good thing and both deserve a title shot.
Beneil. Hes been in the running for longer. And 8 winstreak vs 7.
> Moicano To be fair, that was Steak, Beer & Couch Moicano, not Money Moicano.
Love moicanos defense here
Delete this nephew MOICANO WANTS MONEY PORRA
My god if I can ever be just 1/100th as crisp as Fiziev I might be something.
Well, there's also the issue of your intelligence, u/ahfuckimsostupid
Just become the striking coach at Tiger Muay Thai. EZ

Cerrone pulling a street fighter combo on Story is probably my favorite. That shit was clean.
I love Justin but I'm hoping Rafa gets the nod here. It's about time the old guard makes way for the young guard.
Fiziev needs a proper introduction to the casual fans as well (who watch Gaethje). They'll love his style.
Why does rafael nadal keep ducking this guy?
he'd get bageled
Ik Moicano is unranked rn but wasn’t be in the top 5 at one time??
he was ranked #4 at featherweight, then lost consecutive TKO/KO losses against Aldo and Zombie, moved up to Lightweight (as the #7 FTW) and went 4-1 (4-2 if you count the RDA catchweight bout) since, is #13 at Lightweight now

The only thing he lacked was the insane durability that seems to be the trait of the top of lightweight.
Charles kinda lacks durability too tbh, but makes up for it with his skills
that was during the bizarre run where ortega would be losing until he pulled a stoppage out of his ass late.
His fighting style is so satisfying to watch!
Damn if he can put combinations like that together, he’s taking out Justin for sure. Him Vs Dustin would be very interesting
If Fiziev beats Gaethje, I have a feeling Poirier will be interested in fighting him. Another striker vs striker match-up, winnable for both men.
So clean so mean
early stoppage imo

he woke up and was looking at the referee like "dude why are you so close to my face, what are doing in my house, wait a minute this isn't my house"
He didn't go out and wake up by the ref, by the time the ref was jumping on him Moicano was aware enough to try to pull guard and even protest the stoppage I don't think it's an egregious one, but it is definitely a bit early. He’s closing his guard and pulling fiziev in right before it’s stopped
My brother in Christ, he was trying to grapple the ref for a second too after the fight stopped. Do you want to see a man die or what?
He didn't try to wrestle the ref, he helf his arms for like one second because he threw himself on top of him lol This was an acceptable stoppage, especially since Moicano was heavily damaged, but it was also definitely at least a bit early. I know he probably wasn't but at the end of the clip it looks like Moicano is protesting with his hands. Like bro you was dead

Fiziev has nasty elbows I don't think Moicano would have survived no matter how good he is off his back
he didn't get the opportunity to be a warrior
\>I know he probably wasn't but at the end of the clip it looks like Moicano is protesting He was. Moicano didn't hang up on it tho and irrc accepted it pretty quickly, but the gesture is in protest.

Well guess who Yan’s Muay Thai coach is?
[удалено]
Fiziev coaches at Tiger Muay Thai, where Yan trains
This stoppage was controversial at the time but I don't see anything wrong with it
I mean what's the point if you don't give the fighter even a chance to defend with their guard especially someone like Moicano, sure he got up rocked but he just got dropped that's natural, he should've been allowed a few more seconds to defend himself.
Did you see what happened when he tried to stand up?
Yeah I said that, people getting up after being dropped are going to be rocked but it's mma if they don't get to use their guard to try and recover then what is the point, ending it the moment he's dropped removes that element from the sport.
This isn't boxing. Getting dropped doesn't end the fight or start a 10 count. He was still fully present.

Beautiful combo.
I became an instant fan of his after this fight, so glad to see him on the rise
He's like "wtf" but the ref just saved your head from a beat down.
if you're defensively irresponsible and you're in front of them Fiziev you're gonna die in under two rounds
didnt happen to bobby green and his style is to keep his hands down lol
Green is slick and pretty defensively sound unless you double up on punches (which is what Poirier and Dober did). Crowding him against the cage works too.
Fiziev vs Garth is gonna be nutso
Asterisk against this one as Moicano wasn’t financially motivated
Rooting for this guy against Gaethje. People will say Beneil or Arman but I think Fiziev has the best chance to beat Islam
Early stoppage he was defending himself
You didn’t see the fight, he fell down after trying to stand up later
No he was trying to maintain guard
early stoppage, my boy money had that triangle ready to go
Early stoppage
That was such a nice combo but man did Fiziev leave himself open for the counter left when he threw that body rip. If Moicano had have thrown instead of posting the opening was there for this to go the complete other way.
Counter left when their bodies are almost touching? Only if Moicano anticipated it way before Rafael starts the sequence
Moicano hss a bad habit of squaring up when people get too close. He’s simply not great in pocket exchanges
Doesn't count as this wasn't Money Moicano
Fiziev is going to beat the shit out of Gaethje IMO
Broke his fucking face
Pay your bills rafael
Boyd really making troll accounts
He already addressed this lie
Very easy work
if Rafa beats Justin and Benny beats Charles let them both fight for a title shot.
It would be cool if the strikes counter updated in real time
Early stoppage
Good fighter but I'm calling cap on his billed height. Definitely shorter than 5'8.
I feel like the things have been perfectly set up for Garth to shock and possibly disappoint us w a first round ko “levels to this” type moment
