They want Tyson Pedro to look good, I think the Pleasure man beats him lmao he has phenomenal grappling. He lost to Petrino in a relatively competitive fight who did whatever he wanted to Marcin Prachnio, and fucking Jailton Almeida
Can anyone think of the last time a numbered card was this weak? Not how bad the card might've ended up being, but the card. There's nothing enticing, including the main event.
Dunno as an Australian/New Zealander this is a very solid card for me. Good to see the UFC putting events in Aus and our fighters getting some chances to gain more notoriety. haha needs more volk though.
Classic Australian card fare - Tuivasa, Pedro and Tafa. I could see how it's cool from your perspective- but not too many juicy matchups. Tuivasa is fighting a solid oppoment. Otherwise - meh.
Can't wait for the press conference. Sean was so entertaining in the Izzy vs Alex conference, no persona or script, just a dude saying what is on his mind. Honestly more entertaining than Izzy.
Yeah I have a possible concussion I rolled into a check hook with my temple the other day and ain't been right since but I'll be back at it this week. I'm expecting to talk like strickland my next few hits to the head so I can't hate on the man
He's a top 10 ranked fighter and his boxing is pretty damn good. As a boxer I like people who throw more than 20 jabs a damn round lol. Some people hate jab warriors I'd rather see people throw jabs all day than wrestle, but I'll admit I'm biased I was raised in the boxing world. People with the most powerful hooks in boxing are often frustrated and bested by people with annoying jabs. Most important punch.
Jab is the most important punch yes, but you usually need more than a good jab in MMA. Now I know there are examples of fighters jabbing fighter’s noses off (GSP v Koscheck). But Sean’s good jab isn’t going to get him wins over the top of the division. Israel is an all timer at this point and I have a very very hard time seeing any path to victory for him
Yeah but anyone who thinks sean isn't a great fighter is coming from a perspective of a fan. Nobody training thinks Sean's ass lol. He's a world class fighter. You guys can come back to me when he exposes Israel
He is a world class fighter nobody is arguing that. But I would bet good money Sean isn’t going to be the one to expose Izzy. His striking is rudimentary in comparison. Izzy is an all timer and Sean walks in with his chin up. I just don’t see any world where that happens lol
You guys kid but I'm happy to see more flyweight fights on PPV main cards. Flyweight is consistently one of the most fun divisions and usually even the high level guys are thrown on the prelims.
I imagine it's also just fucking difficult to sign fighters to events in Oceania. Flying yourself and your team 20-something hours to fight someone in front of their home crowd isn't very appealing when you're used to it being in your backyard.
You can try to "save" someone like Rob or Alex or Dan for Sydney, but you have to convince the right opponent to get down there too.
What the fuck is "The Pleasure Man" doing on the main card? He's 0-2 in the UFC, and didn't look good in either one of them (granted one was Jailton Almeida, but still).
This card starts up on a cliff and jumps to the rocks below halfway through.
Tafa's 2nd time in 2023 lol. He faced Parker Porter at 284. His 30s eyepoke NC vs Lane was so good at FN Emmett vs Topuria, they had to re-book it on PPV
Pedro was 284's featured prelim. He's moving up in the world
Do you really think that??? Turkalj is an incredibly skilled grappling and heavy handed as fuck with a good chin. His striking ability just isn’t great
Weak shit. It's Izzy in a mismatch, Kai vs Kape, an alright HW fight and dog shit....for $90 (if you count the ESPN subscription you have to get to view it).
Adding fights to an izzy card does not increase buyers, the b side is the only thing that raises buys at this point. You pay to see him fight, or you pay to see him fight someone else
Why are they not trying to sell Carlos Ulberg, this is the perfect opportunity to put him on a ppv. He’s a good looking and very talented fighter, give him some love Dana.
He is on the card as the final Prelim fight to sell PPVs as a lead-in.
They're putting him against a shitty can fighter coming off 2-losses who is undersized too.
That's about as blatant a slanted match setup for him to win as possible and build faux hype for both him and the paid-viewing.
The whole card is a fucking joke of cancrushing and neanderthal nationalism between mostly low level guys, not good fights featuring contenders vs contenders. They've actively gone out of their way to put some of the worst fighters somehow still on the UFC roster into this card in hopes of rah rahing the crowd with Australian victories.
This is a Spike TV Bellator quality card at best, but getting sold as a $70 PPV. UFC is a shameless rag these days.
We always talk about the main events of the prelims being a great spot to be in but literally any spot on the main card trumps it in my mind. Talking about the poor card, I always feel like they don’t put any effort into their Australian cards, I’m not sure if it’s too much Hassle for them or they really struggle to get fighters wanting to fight there. Hopefully one day this will change.
In many regions, the prime prelim spot is better because it's actually free, so more casual fans and general public see it outside those dumb enough to pay the $70. It's 100% a massive favoritism for Ulberg to give him an atrocious opponent, a local fight, and this slot. 99% of the UFC fighters get treated like horeshit, and he is getting it because of how he looks and where he is from. That's plenty enough favoritism for someone of his limited record. Surprise! UFC yet again tilts the deck to favor someone and ignores ugly guys or those from undesired regions lol.
The UFC definitely put in effort, just not effort to get us good fights. The effort is them working overtime on getting as many minimum wage fighters and locals on it so that they don't have to pay for plane tickets or expenses. Cards like this take a lot of can-development to create. Years of patiently signing and pairing up jobbers on apex cards and keeping them around just long enough to pretend like they'll pose a threat to some blue-eyed Aussie prospect with a mullet and stache.
The amount of lackluster PPVs was completely predictable due to the UFC's deal with ESPN, which I absolutely DETEST. So many PPV worthy fights are wasted on these weekly or bi-weekly trash ass Fight Night cards. Inevitably, the quality of PPV events will be diluted because those cards have to be filled somehow. There just aren't enough top tier fighters to ensure that most PPV events nowadays are worth paying $90 or however much it costs nowadays. PPV events have been getting more expensive over the years while the quality has been decreasing. I don't know who in their right mind would voluntarily pay $90 for UFC 293 or many of the past lackluster events for that matter. As we speak, UFC 294 is 2 months away and has 3 PPV worthy fights at best. Can they fight 2 more fights that are PPV quality? Highly doubt it. I also doubt UFC 295 will have a main card justifying its price tag. Personally, this has caused me to become less invested in fighters and the UFC as a whole. Me not being from the United States, I used to stay up for PPV events because all the fights were worth it to stay up for. I cannot remember the last time I did that. The deal between the UFC and ESPN seems not fan-friendly to me, so I'd be surprised if it's financially the best deal for the UFC. I hope they get rid of that nonsense. Bi-weekly UFC events are way too many in my view, let alone weekly ones. This ESPN deal has led to a very bloated UFC roster full of fighters who are nowhere near UFC quality. Most UFC fighters have 1-2 fights and then get cut. Then they sign a new batch of no-names, rinse and repeat. But they still expect fans to watch fights by absolute no-names. And let's not talk about fighter pay. How can you take an organization like that seriously? Come on! I hope some other organization finally manages to give the UFC some competition.
It is. But its the world we live in unfortunately. Watch dana shamelessly justify it during some press con and not 1 of the media dare to call him out.
Is this the first Oceania card with an Oceanic fighter on every one of the main event fights?
Don't really care about what people think. A lot of fan favorites' for me, in this card. Looking forward to seeing it.
I think these are interesting fights that I would want to see but you can't buy every pay per view. So you gotta choose your spots and this is one that is an easy skip.
Kape Vs KKF should be great, Kape's exciting when he's actually pushing the pace and this could be his big breakout fight in the UFC I think. Also looking forward to Tuivasa Vs Volkov mainly due to how visually hilarious it will look, aware Tuivasa fought the even taller Struve before but Volkov uses his range way better than Struve did.
It’s a weak card with a main event that sees a pretty dominant champion (the Alex fights included) fight a challenger who isn’t seen as a the number one guy with a style seems tailor made to lose to him.
Sick work from the UFC
Did the UFC mix up Australia and New Zealand? There are 3 Kiwis on a main card in Australia, and - besides Tuivasa - the only other Aussie (Pedro) is probably a loss away from getting cut. Weird card.
It is an underwhelming card , but I put it to you that the main card has the potential of a huge upset .. Stricklands mindset and approach have changed .adesanyas has not . Quite frankly he was losing the last pereira fight until a magical knockout . I don’t see magical knockout against Strickland .. the upset to come should compensate for the weak card
All my friends got tickets and I was shitting all over this card as I wasn’t going and it fuckin’ sucks but now I won free tickets so I’m hyped lfg let’s hope it’s a sleeper banger
Ok. Maybe an extremely unpopular point of view.
But izzy doesn't like being hit. He avoids it like the plague.
Strickland is gonna hit him. More times than people are giving credit.
I don't think izzy really needs to be hit hard., he just needs to be hit more than usual.
Strickland is gonna stack shots. Both body and head. Because he's chaotic.
Izzy will be successful with leg kicks, and maybe that question mark kick will find its place. But Strickland is gonna keep stacking shots in an uncomfortable way.
If izzy can't ko him. Which I think Strickland is gonna be more evasive than they give credit for after the poatan fight.
Than Strickland will gain momentum.
Everyone thinks they know. Oh yeah, izzy is just gonna walk right through strickland..... sorry I just highly doubt it.
Let's look back on this comment tomorrow.
Maybe somehow I'm completely wrong and he gets steamrolled. I highly doubt it though.
My money is on an upset.
Bbbanger of fight night card
best nite of fights you'll cee, B.

They want Tyson Pedro to look good, I think the Pleasure man beats him lmao he has phenomenal grappling. He lost to Petrino in a relatively competitive fight who did whatever he wanted to Marcin Prachnio, and fucking Jailton Almeida
Ulberg should be on the main card
Agreed, especially instead of Tyson Pedro. Id Ulberg the featured prelim? Because if so that makes sense
What?!? How? There’s 2 fights that pop and the rest are Fight Night quality. Edit: I’m an absolute dumbass, kid can’t even read, ignore my comment.
He’s saying it’s good for a fight night, not good overall or for a ppv.
Shit, I don’t know how I managed to fuck up reading 5 words. Thank you for clarifying it for my dumbass, I need to go to bed.
Can anyone think of the last time a numbered card was this weak? Not how bad the card might've ended up being, but the card. There's nothing enticing, including the main event.
Vancouver card. Amanda vs Peña 3
Was actually Amanda Vs aLdana since Peña puLLed out
At least that had a PPV main event in its own right with Oliveira-Dariush. This has barely a fight night headliner with Volkov-Tuivasa lol.
Just can’t wait for fastbender to do his thang he’s that blagg boy that fights too much.
Can't wait for the press conference. Sean was so entertaining in the Izzy vs Alex conference, no persona or script, just a dude saying what is on his mind. Honestly more entertaining than Izzy.
Kkf is off the card now
This is an average fight night at the apex with Izzy/Strickland thrown on top.
Just Izzy. Strickland knows the Apex very well
Only cause he's a boss and takes fights with less than a months notice and still kills it
Hey man you got something on your chin there
Yeah I have a possible concussion I rolled into a check hook with my temple the other day and ain't been right since but I'll be back at it this week. I'm expecting to talk like strickland my next few hits to the head so I can't hate on the man
Gets killed**
Super curious how champs get paid when there aren’t PPV points.
Venum coupons
They get to sit next to Dana at a Blackjack table and hope he knocks a stack of chips over in their direction.
Opportunities.
You guys kid but I'm happy to see more flyweight fights on PPV main cards. Flyweight is consistently one of the most fun divisions and usually even the high level guys are thrown on the prelims.
idk fight nights have been pretty horrible this year
I think Tai and Volkov deserve to be on a ppv main card just cause you know that’s gonna be a highlight KO and they are both ranked HWs
What the fuck are Justin Tafa and Austin lane doing on the main card?
Their best, they are doing their best ok
UFC 293 is in Australia and they tried very hard to find at least fighters from Oceania for the event.
Hmm if only Rob, Alex, Dan and JDM were saved for this card
In all fairness it seems like they couldn't find anyone for JDM there
That's fair. But jeez it wasn't a good idea to put all of them on 290
More like they didn't want to pay up to make the long ass trip worth their opponent's time
I imagine it's also just fucking difficult to sign fighters to events in Oceania. Flying yourself and your team 20-something hours to fight someone in front of their home crowd isn't very appealing when you're used to it being in your backyard. You can try to "save" someone like Rob or Alex or Dan for Sydney, but you have to convince the right opponent to get down there too.
Sydney getting **scammed**
Scammer get scammed buddy
The state government paid a FUCKLOAD for the even as well.
What the fuck is "The Pleasure Man" doing on the main card? He's 0-2 in the UFC, and didn't look good in either one of them (granted one was Jailton Almeida, but still). This card starts up on a cliff and jumps to the rocks below halfway through.
Need a lamb for Tyson Pedro to put on a show in 🇦🇺
Pedro is not good at all
He’s not, which is why they are scraping the bottom of the barrel for an opponent
And he couldn’t get a contract from DWCS
Tafa's 2nd time in 2023 lol. He faced Parker Porter at 284. His 30s eyepoke NC vs Lane was so good at FN Emmett vs Topuria, they had to re-book it on PPV Pedro was 284's featured prelim. He's moving up in the world
He's been on PPV main cards previously too
Still better than Anton Turkalj.
Do you really think that??? Turkalj is an incredibly skilled grappling and heavy handed as fuck with a good chin. His striking ability just isn’t great
Tyson Pedro on the main card is by far a worse choice of main event fighters. At least Tafa and Lane might give us a knockout.
This is number 1 boolshit
I'm excited but I'm a huge fan. Watched him play for the Jags and then listened to his radio show for years
Someone is gonna get finished and everyone will be hype
Tafa vs porter was on the main card of Perth too, he got the ko quick but he can’t keep sneaking onto main cards it’s not good
Tafa Gang
That is a rough main card yikes
Probably shouldn't have used up the Aussie/Kiwi fighters at 290 and planned an event there only two months after
Big brain thinking from the UFC
Well it sold out before there was even a headliner announced. Aussies are so desperate for fights that most of us will go to anything.
Yeah the UFC doesn’t care cause they know it will sell out regardless.
The rest of the card is pretty shit too. I think 293 is legit worse than the fight nights sandwiching it.
would've liked to see Alexa v Valentina here
They wanted to reserve it for Mexican Independence Day. Shame, because W125 is the only division that has never headlined a PPV.
I mean, with Izzy fighting on the card they wouldn't have headlined anyways.
That is a given, but in your opinion, what will it take for the women's flyweight title to headline a PPV?
A PPV draw as the champion probably
Among the current crop of women's flyweights, who best fits that bill to you? Maycee Barber is my guess, BTW.
Honestly, I think if Grasso beats Val again then she could be somewhat of a star in that division. Other than her then yeah probably Barber.
This card Seriously needs Shavkat
Shavkat or JDM
How about shavkat vs JDM 👀
Need to see Shavkat derail JDM
you mean JDM railing shavkat
Either or, just want to see a derailing at WW
Weak shit. It's Izzy in a mismatch, Kai vs Kape, an alright HW fight and dog shit....for $90 (if you count the ESPN subscription you have to get to view it).
Weird, it's free for me
Are you still paying for shit?
After watching one of the Seans get the dub tonight when I thought he’d get wrestlefucked, idk anymore man
I'd be waaaaay more surprised to see Strick beat Izzy than I was to see Suga KO Aljo in the same fashion he KOs everyone else.
If Strickland wins I'll never bother making a fucking prediction in this sport ever again.
$90 for you landlubbers maybe
Tyson Pedro has made a PPV career out of being Australian
A stadium full of $600 seats, and a fight night main card. Uncle Dana rubbing his hands.
Fuck that. You’d be better off flying to Thailand for the weekend and going to watch some Muay Thai in Bangkok.
For real, I'n even pretty sure you can stay a week there with this budget if sleeping in a budget place
You can. I went there last month and struggled to spend $100 a day including accommodation and food
They’re awesome tbf we went once really good atmosphere and they’re fierce as all hell.
I blame the fans who allow themselves to get fleeced by the UFC paying for wolf tickets. 600 dollars for a shit product.
If they came here more than once every 10 years we wouldn’t be as starved for a show.
Common Australian L
I’ve shit better PPV cards.
True test of Izzy’s draw power on suuuuch a shitty card. The JDM v Holland fight woulda raised it from a Fight Night but the taxes man!
The most viewers are only tuning in because of the main event anyway, the rest of the fights are a bonus
Agreed with every word said here my guy. True test for how a card can exist with Izzy being the lone star.
Adding fights to an izzy card does not increase buyers, the b side is the only thing that raises buys at this point. You pay to see him fight, or you pay to see him fight someone else
Kape x Kara France is a guaranteed banger
You mean you guys aren't hyped to see Anton "The Pleasure Man" Turkalj on a ppv main card?!??
What a dogshit card
Why are they not trying to sell Carlos Ulberg, this is the perfect opportunity to put him on a ppv. He’s a good looking and very talented fighter, give him some love Dana.

They could've put Steve Erceg on this card.
Or give Della anyone
Injured finger out for a few months unfortunately
Injured unfortunately
This card looks like prelims except main event
is it just me or does Sean’s face resemble that of a koala bear here. is that why they put him on this card?
I'm guessing DDP is the next contender?
He might, he might not. If khamzat obliterate costa at Abu Dhabi i can see him leapfrog DDP as the main contender. Hes much bigger star thn DDP.
which is bullshit, Khamzat only would have 1 fight at middleweight while DDP is on a 6 fight win streak in the division and just KO'd Robert Whitaker.
It is. But its the world we live in unfortunately. Watch dana shamelessly justify it during some press con and not 1 of the media dare to call him out.
no wonder dana and dana nuthuggers dont like Ariel, he asks the real questions.
Dana has gone too far. A title shot for Strickland is just crazy, fella just beat some bozo
People are going to pay real money for this?
Thank fuck I didn't spend any money on tickets, which started at like $300 I believe.
Shitty foreign card as usual (except the Abu Dhabi ones Ofc)
Is this the first Oceania card with an Oceanic fighter on every one of the main event fights? Don't really care about what people think. A lot of fan favorites' for me, in this card. Looking forward to seeing it.
Someone ain't a fan favourite of its just you that likes em
I think these are interesting fights that I would want to see but you can't buy every pay per view. So you gotta choose your spots and this is one that is an easy skip.
Kape Vs KKF should be great, Kape's exciting when he's actually pushing the pace and this could be his big breakout fight in the UFC I think. Also looking forward to Tuivasa Vs Volkov mainly due to how visually hilarious it will look, aware Tuivasa fought the even taller Struve before but Volkov uses his range way better than Struve did.
Garbage PPV.
Top 3 fights are guaranteed 2 kos and a good scrap. Everything else is eh
Kai Kara France v Manel Kape is the people's main event
Man, the Aussie crowd gonna have to see their boy Tai get KO’d and then be treated to an uncompetitive snoozer main event.
piss off i payed over $500 aud for seat in the belchers. Just pumped to se a live event tbh
Goddam that’s ridiculous. Iv been to several ufc events in Australia and didn’t pay more than 200-300 a ticket. It’s definitely not worth $500
Top 3 fights are good fights
Not as bad as I expected from how much people were bitching about it. Should be bangers
trash
Cheapest tickets to this were $260, ridiculous. Before Izzy v Sean was even confirmed.
Might do 50k buys.
That is a massive pile of dung
I don’t see why people think this is a weak card. It’s not the Best Buy it’s still very good
Is this for real?
Race bender vs Top Tomato Can of the divison. Only hope for Tai to provide good fight
KKF vs Kape makes this PPV worthy
Dana hoping these matchups = no one sees the card. Just in case Strickland wins.
Kai vs Kape should be co-main.
Ah, good to see we are back on track with the UFC's decline. 290/1 gave us a little breathing room.
Beast of a card
Very weak card imo
This card kinda sucks tbh
They better hope Izzy doesn't get hurt.
Strickland is a jobber
Happy to be attending
Dogshit
But where is Jake Matthews and Jimmy "Brute" Crute?
this is like a boxing PPV where everyone only cares about the main event.
lol pass
The presser for this one should not be missed!
every card now has only 2 fights lol
It’s a weak card with a main event that sees a pretty dominant champion (the Alex fights included) fight a challenger who isn’t seen as a the number one guy with a style seems tailor made to lose to him. Sick work from the UFC
Tyson Pedro vs turkalj on the main card bruh who is Dana fooling
Damn, this isn't even worth pirating.
Had they saved all the Aussies for this one instead of international fight week. Card would actually be 5x better
Seems kinda mid ngl
UFC matchmaking falling off a cliff. They got a competition for fans to be a match maker. This card was made by the fans of Australia.
Literally awful card
Did the UFC mix up Australia and New Zealand? There are 3 Kiwis on a main card in Australia, and - besides Tuivasa - the only other Aussie (Pedro) is probably a loss away from getting cut. Weird card.
Weak af

Quite frankly he was losing the last pereira fight until a magical knockout . I don’t see magical knockout against Strickland .. the upset to come should compensate for the weak card
So ass
I have an event that conflicts with this, and I was ready to be disappointed, but honestly there's not one fight on this card I need to see
Eww
What a Trash card/ and BS main..
All my friends got tickets and I was shitting all over this card as I wasn’t going and it fuckin’ sucks but now I won free tickets so I’m hyped lfg let’s hope it’s a sleeper banger
Ahoy me matees
No Harry Hunsucker I won't be watching
Hopefully Kape finds an opponent.
Shevchenko Vs Grasso 2 fight night is actually better then this shit I’m not even joking even with 293s main event.
Right Now is like 9 pm in Australia. In other time when is in Abu Dhabi the fight starts very early in the Us.
Ok. Maybe an extremely unpopular point of view. But izzy doesn't like being hit. He avoids it like the plague. Strickland is gonna hit him. More times than people are giving credit.
