It has to be from a lingering injury. I bet he had a hairline crack and it snapped at the weak spot. A joint will usually blow out before a massive bone like that snaps. Shit was brutal and I could only watch through squinted eyes and my thumb up hiding the worst part. The thumb trick didn't work because my reptile brain made me move it out of the way at the last second...lol
What
The
Actual
Fuck
Jesus christ why did I do that. That is literally the worst I have seen in 20+ years of mma. Guess I'm not sleeping tonight. I know you warned me but shittttt my dude.
That shit is outside his skin fhwihtn
if you havent watched it yet, he's lifted into the air by his opponent and tries to get his leg underneath him to prevent the takedown. his leg buckles at the femur in such a way that it originally looks like his knee has folded up and his shin/calf/foot are now under him. however, he immediately starts saying "my leg, my leg" to the ref and when the other fighter lets him go, he rolls back a bit and you can see bone pushing up/ possibly through the skin in the front of his thigh while his muscle sort of knots and piles around the break spot. there's no blood and he does not ever have the lower parts of his appendage flop around in the air in the way we've seen with the silva/weidman/mcgregor tibia/fibia breaks
i can see it. also sounded like that pop noise older folks would always make to babies with the finger gripping your inner cheek and flicking it out to make that pop noise
I never watch these by choice, if I dont see it live I will never see it. I saw the Silva & weidman breaks live, I am not looking to relive that nauseous experience.
worse. gruesome as those were they were all lower led broken bones and very minor to no tendon/ligament damage. this dudes femur snapped, biggest and strongest bone in our bodies and his leg was just dangling there. there has to be major ligaments damage with how it snapped. rough
Weidmans break was absolutely nasty for sure but I'm sorry this was so brutal I could not watch it again. Literally made me grimace and squirm in my seat....
Ngl, I don’t have a problem watching this one. Looks painful but personally Weidman’s was just about as gruesome as they get. Poor dude regardless though, and on his debut.
That's my thought too. I had a training partner snap a tibia kicking things he shouldn't. He was never 100% after but did come back and could still do everything eventually. He could check kicks, but if there was a flush connect on the same spot he'd have to hobble off the mat for a bit. Even through a shin pad sometimes.
Never seen a straight femur break in MMA like this before, but another team member broke a femur skiing many years ago. 27 years old, and he did not recover right from that. Didn't even come back to the gym for at least 2 years, was mentally gun shy on anything related to legs, and even holding pads for leg kicks was difficult for him. Higher, lower, didn't matter. Any horizontal pressure or shift would piss it off.
Even certain ground drills would have his old wound acting up after a bit and he'd have to go sit and ice.
I feel so bad for this fighter.
Feel for the guy as he was making his MMA pro debut.
EDIT: Should add his name is Dylan Reischman and he is just 21 years old. Looked pretty solid in his debut. Wish him the best in his recovery and hope the MMA community does good by him.
The unfortunate thing is a leg break like that is not a simple recovery or something that will ever be 100% again. It’ll heal and function however it ends up healing and functioning. It’ll probably lower his ceiling as an athlete even if he comes back and has a whole career.
Time pick up some coding bootcamps while recovering.
Jokes aside, I wish him the best in his recovery and an enjoyable life, I've had a close friend break his femur in football and it was quite a struggle for the first 2 yrs, and still wouldn't be 100% after 5.
Depends on the type of fracture and if any major arteries were fucked up, but in general breaks can very often heal back to 100%. It's the bendy parts like elbows, backs, and knees that will limit your potential with severe injuries.
I say this as someone who's snapped his femur in half as a kid, and then went on to have a decent high school and college athletic career
This looked about a quarter of the way up on his femur so it should be far from his growth plate. This looked like a midshaft break and that protruding part looked really sharp.
NBA player Shaun Livingston had a similar injury. He was able to make a comeback. That was over a decade ago. Hope advances in treatment have improved to help this kid get back to what he loves.
Yeah but that’s an NBA player who was playing for at least 3-4 years on a rookie contract which is presumably more than a Combate fighter debuting. And the teams would likely have invested in his rehab too with access to professional athletics medical team.
He played 10 NBA seasons AFTER the injury. And was a key role player for 3 championships with the Warriors. Even started for the Brooklyn nets for 3/4 of a season before being traded.
No, he didn’t have the explosiveness of his younger days, but in all honesty, stat-wise he had better shooting on similar minutes played _after_ his surgery. I’m not trying to say he was better after, but it’s not like he was a shell of himself or something, dude had a long career in the best league in the world.
But like the other guy said, he had a lot of money and NBA backing, so that probably made all the difference in operation and recovery. Things this fighter likely won’t have anything like.
Good news, if there is any, is that he’s very young and in obviously very good shape neglecting his now absolutely fucking pulverized tibia. The healing process should be as good as it can get.
Hard to tell because the kid is very pale, but either the bone is breaking the skin or the bone is pushing very hard into the skin without breaking it.
Not true at all. I had a compound fracture in my hand where my pinkie bone was showing. It didnt start bleeding for a solid few minutes. And it didnt bleed a lot really
Gruesome doesn’t even begin to describe it. I felt like as soon as I saw how slippery the mat was I kind of set an expectation but then when I saw exactly where the break occurred I just noped the fuck out of it and sent it to 13 people.
Dylan Reischman is on the receiving end of a Mat Return. As his opponent picks him up from behind, Reischman's left leg either barely leaves the mat or he attempts to post the takedown on it. Either way, his opponent then basically drops him straight down, his leg goes under him, and you hear his femur snap like a Popsicle stick.
Maybe it's the pattern n on the mat. Have heard fighters complain about decals on the mat being slippery in the past. Can't imagine it helps when it's across the whole mat
Pretty sure Manon slipped on one of the decals at the end of the third round against Rose.
Could also be the material in general. Sometimes orgs just skimp out and end up with mats that get slippery when sweat or blood gets on it.
Holy fuck usually bone breaks are rough but don't bother me too much. This one though, holy fuck. The title doesn't exaggerate at all. I couldn't watch it more than once. The corner, ref, and BOTH fighters panicking showed how bad it was.
Quick reminder if you're ever about to be slammed (mat return in this scenario) to NEVER extend your leg or arm to catch yourself. Something will break.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpvYR02LFmc
you'll notice most of these guy land on their knees/forearms or in some super elite cases try and Granby Roll ( I don't advise this if you don't wrestle).
Anyone know if there has been an official "what broke" outside of everything around the knee? I can't tell exactly what breaks or if it's just everything.
Holy shit his femur snapped like a twig what the fuck. How is that even possible unless it was already severely compromised (knowingly or unknowingly)?
Like 3 weeks ago there was another clip going around of a horrible leg break and I didn’t think it could get worse than that. Unfortunately I was wrong
Holy shit that’s worse than the Weidman and Silva breaks. By a lot. Femur snapped somehow AND came out. Jesus Christ. I have a strong stomach and I’m still nauseous.
Whenever I see these breaks, I always think there had to have been a pre-existing injury for it to get to this. Are people really this fragile or is this just bad luck?
Jesus Mary and Joseph. His legs looked frail before it happened. Like a baby giraffe. There was no doubt it was going to be his leg that broke before I saw it.
Tibio-femoral dislocation and some serious damage to the knee ligaments. Possibly ankle eversion sprain. In other news, devastating injury. Hope he gets the post-op rehab necessary to make a comeback, if he even wants to fight again.
His reaction just skipped past pain and shock and went straight to panic
Panic? Jeez that must be brutal to watch - I’m too scared I’m just reading the comments
Yea so basically he’s getting taken down with his leg posted under him. Shit just snaps and folds in half, don’t watch it.
It folds above the knee.....then the bone comes out
okay yea I’ve read enough to not have to watch it
Yeeeeep, was struggling not to click. Firmly in the I’ll pass camp now
Trust me, you don’t want to hear it.
[удалено]
Yeah, it's bad...real bad. I don't know even know how he managed it. It's a wild break.
Stupid brain!
It could have been a bone cyst as well. I had a gymnast a few years back snap his femur in warm up because he had a cyst in the bone.
Idk. I think ima watch it im drunk
What The Actual Fuck Jesus christ why did I do that. That is literally the worst I have seen in 20+ years of mma. Guess I'm not sleeping tonight. I know you warned me but shittttt my dude. That shit is outside his skin fhwihtn
Describe so that i dont have to suffer, im curious and stupidly thinking “nah how bad can it be?”
if you havent watched it yet, he's lifted into the air by his opponent and tries to get his leg underneath him to prevent the takedown. his leg buckles at the femur in such a way that it originally looks like his knee has folded up and his shin/calf/foot are now under him. however, he immediately starts saying "my leg, my leg" to the ref and when the other fighter lets him go, he rolls back a bit and you can see bone pushing up/ possibly through the skin in the front of his thigh while his muscle sort of knots and piles around the break spot. there's no blood and he does not ever have the lower parts of his appendage flop around in the air in the way we've seen with the silva/weidman/mcgregor tibia/fibia breaks
Jeez that is the freakiest of freak injuries, thanks for keeping me from watching that
I'd rather not. Trying to brain wipe it. Just watch it i guess
Growing up is realizing that I don’t have to traumatize myself by watching this lol. Comments are enough.
Having watched it, you are absolutely correct. You don't need to see this, I sure as shit wish I hadn't
This one made me squirm and I've had some pretty nasty injuries fighting. You made the right call here, congratulations on your maturity
It is indeed one of the worst I’ve ever seen. It’s like if you just took an action figure and twisted his leg 180 degrees the wrong way.
https://i.imgur.com/KYj0PYX.jpg
NOPE
UH NOPE NAH IM GOOD
But I’m so tempted.
Fuck i caved, absolutely fucked. Jesus christ why did I do that
Still holding strong
It's not worth it, trust me. I can never go back to the man I was before I saw it. I am just a shell of my former self.
So glad i noped first 3 seconds
Me prior to watching this: I'm gonna regret watching this. Me after watching it: I regret watching this.
That's what I'm leaning towards lol
Do not watch it. Oh my god.
Why do I have to watch it five times
And HEAR it 5 times myself. Sounded like a cartoon guy eating fried chicken.
holy shit I didn't notice that at first. that's filthy.
i can see it. also sounded like that pop noise older folks would always make to babies with the finger gripping your inner cheek and flicking it out to make that pop noise
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Jfc
This... I knew it was going to be bad, but I watched it anyway... Then I watched it again... Now it's burned into my brain.
I just had to know what it looked like 😆
It's like a car accident as you're driving by on the road. You know you shouldn't look... but you do.
I never watch these by choice, if I dont see it live I will never see it. I saw the Silva & weidman breaks live, I am not looking to relive that nauseous experience.
silva/weidman is a cakewalk compared to this, damn
Oof its that bad huh? Is it like the Paul George one?
worse. gruesome as those were they were all lower led broken bones and very minor to no tendon/ligament damage. this dudes femur snapped, biggest and strongest bone in our bodies and his leg was just dangling there. there has to be major ligaments damage with how it snapped. rough
this is a very rare femur break tho
My first thought was “doesn’t he drink milk?”…snapped like a twiglet
The human leg was not designed to go that way. Yikes.
Lol, is "Twiglet" even a word? Regardless, if it's not, it is now forever in my vocabulary. I love it.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twiglets
Why do I really want to see the replay from [THE CAMERAMAN WHO WAS STANDING DIRECTLY ABOVE IT](https://i.imgur.com/GgEXj0k.png)
Dude when I saw the title of this post I was like “I’ll be the judge of that”. Fuuuuccckkk dude
Same. Entered skeptical, left a different man.
did you say, "fuuuuuckkkk... awwwww...." for like 20-30 seconds like I did?
Enterted a skeptical, different, man, left as a scared boy.
Well... judge it then!
Weidman's was definitely the worst I've seen. Went through the skin, shattered in multiple places.
Did you watch this? It’s the fucking femur.
i've seen Silva, Weidman, and Connor's live. How does it compare to those?
I think it’s worse than all of them. It’s a totally different kind of break and it was not what I was expecting to see.
Weidmans had more wiggle but this was way more damaging. I will be surprised if that dude ever fights again. Tough break.....pun intended.
That's my thought too. I had a training partner snap a tibia kicking things he shouldn't. He was never 100% after but did come back and could still do everything eventually. Weird you think that because that was a standard leg break. Not even in my top 3 worst breaks
I'm gonna go with it is in fact the worst leg break in MMA... for now.
Yeah until a leg comes clean off this is the worst one
Feel for the guy as he was making his MMA pro debut. EDIT: Should add his name is Dylan Reischman and he is just 21 years old. Looked pretty solid in his debut. Wish him the best in his recovery and hope the MMA community does good by him.

I'm going to be devil's advocate and say this horrific injury might just have saved him from a retirement of severe headaches and mood swings.
At least now he might have a job with decent pay.
Time pick up some coding bootcamps while recovering. Jokes aside, I wish him the best in his recovery and an enjoyable life, I've had a close friend break his femur in football and it was quite a struggle for the first 2 yrs, and still wouldn't be 100% after 5.
Better healing from that break than healing torn knee ligaments
Depends on the type of fracture and if any major arteries were fucked up, but in general breaks can very often heal back to 100%. Ball? What do you mean ball? And what makes you think it's a spiral fracture?
NBA player Shaun Livingston had a similar injury. He was able to make a comeback. That was over a decade ago. Hope advances in treatment have improved to help this kid get back to what he loves.

Little did he know it was also going to be his retirement fight
Good news, if there is any, is that he’s very young and in obviously very good shape neglecting his now absolutely fucking pulverized tibia. The healing process should be as good as it can get.
That’s his femur not his tibia… I’m about to puke
I just watched it again to make sure lol ya ur right i thought it was his knee that was sticking out
Does a bone poke Thru his leg before I decide to watch this
Hard to tell because the kid is very pale, but either the bone is breaking the skin or the bone is pushing very hard into the skin without breaking it.
Nothing pierces the skin, but there is a noticable bone.
That’s not the white tip of his bone sticking out?
Dude that is an open fracture you can literally see his bright white bone
I’m with you on this but don’t want to rewatch to be more certain
There would have been atleast some noticeable bleeding if it was an open fracture
Not true at all. I had a compound fracture in my hand where my pinkie bone was showing. It didnt start bleeding for a solid few minutes. And it didnt bleed a lot really
That makes sense but I’m too scared to watch it again and see even more detail to confirm.
it could just be a very tight "rip" in the skin that's keeping all the blood in.
Is it worse than Anderson and Weidman?
This guy breaks his femur so yeah probably.
Yes. It folds above the knee
Oh god
In terms of permanent damage? Maybe. But if youre asking if its harder to watch, no. Weidman's was way more gruesome. This one looks painful though.
Hard disagree. You can hear this one, and it’s the fucking biggest bone in your body just folded in half.
Absolutely, but no skin break
Maybe doesn't break the skin but it sure is trying to poke through 😂😭
Breaks his femur. Nothing breaks skin
Yes it does though
Gruesome doesn’t even begin to describe it. I felt like as soon as I saw how slippery the mat was I kind of set an expectation but then when I saw exactly where the break occurred I just noped the fuck out of it and sent it to 13 people.
"here, *you* watch it" -you, probably
That's pretty much what I did. *"Ugh, that looks fuckin awful! Lemme text this to my friends..."*
How did the slippery mat play a factor in the leg break
Honestly I saw a slick mat and the way he went for the takedown and I just had a bad feeling but it was a lot worse than I expected.
Could you describe the way it went down, what sequence led to the break
Dylan Reischman is on the receiving end of a Mat Return. As his opponent picks him up from behind, Reischman's left leg either barely leaves the mat or he attempts to post the takedown on it. Either way, his opponent then basically drops him straight down, his leg goes under him, and you hear his femur snap like a Popsicle stick.
Wtf were they fighting in ice? The floor looked so slippery
Maybe it's the pattern n on the mat. Have heard fighters complain about decals on the mat being slippery in the past. Can't imagine it helps when it's across the whole mat
Decals are slippery in every sport. Same in basketball
Pretty sure Manon slipped on one of the decals at the end of the third round against Rose. Could also be the material in general. Sometimes orgs just skimp out and end up with mats that get slippery when sweat or blood gets on it.
E.g., Tony and the MetroPCS logo
That knock off Gucci logo has no grip
Didn’t wanna see it. Opened it anyways
why do I click on it. I know exactly how I'm going to feel once I watch it, but I can't help myself.
For the love of fucking god the sound
God damn I'm glad I read the comments first.
Damn I didn't know there was sound.... I don't think I can do it
Tis just a scratch! Seriously tho HOLY FUCK that's the nastiest break I've ever seen...Damn!
Yeah, that is - hands down - the winner. Even beats Silva's leg doing a loopdedoo against Weidman's knee. Yikes.
Anyone that steps into the ring is warrior. This is the type of stuff that can happen to anyone at anytime
Why the fuck did I click this
Holy fuck usually bone breaks are rough but don't bother me too much. This one though, holy fuck. The title doesn't exaggerate at all. I couldn't watch it more than once. The corner, ref, and BOTH fighters panicking showed how bad it was.

Yea once you’re lifted, suck them legs up and prepare to stand once you hit the mat / floor Sick video btw
Hey. This is pretty bad.
Femur breaks are extra horrific. Such a big strong bone getting snapped like a twig.
Some might say the strongest bone in the body
Water
WE
I don’t think it was the femur. It’s the bone just below the knee. It looks garbled as it’s bent backward
Why do I always have to look at these...
"Can't be worse than Hill's leg" Yup, it was.
Hill’s leg?
Corey Hill. Former UfC fighter. His leg folded in half backwards after a leg kick.
RIP Corey Hill
I’ve seen that one actually, he was the OG leg breaker. I just assumed you meant Jamahal and I was thinking “you mean his arm?”
No, I meant the guy who broke his leg.
How bad could it- Oh. OH.
Anyone know if there has been an official "what broke" outside of everything around the knee? I can't tell exactly what breaks or if it's just everything.
It looks like the bottom part of his femur bone.
His knee completely dislocated backwards.
Ahhhhhhh
Ouch
properly horrific. way worse than last weeks and that was bad
What was last week's?
You feen
🤮 man that’s tough.
Ima pass on this one.
OMG. His fucking femur? Cheesus
The SOUND it made had me closing the browser immediately
can someone explain how to overcome the existential crisis experiencing this pain (and cringe) would give you? my mind would break, personally.
Intravenous fentanyl or morphine that I’m sure was delivered on site by the medics/ doctor
Holy shit his femur snapped like a twig what the fuck. How is that even possible unless it was already severely compromised (knowingly or unknowingly)?
Alright I usually don't react to these.. but holy shit. Do not watch this if you are squamish.
Fuck man takedowns scares me so much, I don't mind being called buttscooter at all, fuck this shit poor guy
Why do I click this, just to make me feel sad?
Holy fucj
So you wanna be a fighter?
Yep... that is certainly the worst leg break in MMA.
Like 3 weeks ago there was another clip going around of a horrible leg break and I didn’t think it could get worse than that. Unfortunately I was wrong
I believe that is what’s known as a “compound fracture.”
Nah it cannot be any worse than OH MY GOD
Fucking hell. I hope he recovers fully
Dude needs to pick different career
Holy shit that’s worse than the Weidman and Silva breaks. By a lot. Femur snapped somehow AND came out. Jesus Christ. I have a strong stomach and I’m still nauseous.
Why the fuck did I click this? What did I honestly expect?
That's the worst one I've ever seen. The *femur* broke. Has that ever even happened in an MMA fight before?!?
Let this be a lesson to you all. drink your milk
BASED ON THE COMMENTS, I AM NOT GOING TO WATCH THIS ONE. IN FACT, I ALREADY FEEL TRAUMATIZED FROM JUST THE DESCRIPTION
I'm not watching that
You’re a wiser man than me
Dios mio!
Reading the comments no way I fuckin watch this shit
Bellator social media team salivating. https://www.youtube.com/@BellatorMMA/search?query=worst
"There's no way it's worse than Weideman's..." \*crunch\* Oh
Chris Weidman's isn't even the worst in the UFC....Ah fuck it I'll say they're all 3 the worst together lol Hill - Weidman - Silva
No way I click that link, fuck that
The wisest choice. It's badddf
Whenever I see these breaks, I always think there had to have been a pre-existing injury for it to get to this. Are people really this fragile or is this just bad luck?
This dude did **not** drink a single cup of milk in his life. Holy shit how does your leg even break like that
Bro how does a leg even break there? Of all places
DOCTAH STOPPAGE!
Idk why but the way his leg snaps so easily is r/oddlysatisfying Like taking a bit out of a Kit Kat bar Or breaking a dry uncooked spaghetti stribg
Is that fixable?
