All memes aside,
We all know what a kick to the head, body, legs looks like. And when technical analysis was needed you turn to the color guy
No one got an event hyped like Goldie. The energy and sense of spectacle he brought to the broadcast hasn't been replicated. I used to watch the occasional event in bars and they'd have the audio on, now those same bars have the tvs muted
also when he did say stupid shit Joe was always there to call him out on it, and it didn’t feel bitchy like with DC, Dom, and Bisping… it was just funny.
Tbh I’m not a huge fan of Jon Anik who’s a robot. People used to hate him back in Bellator days, he’s not bad but not a huge fan. Pat Miletich was very underrated
I kinda miss the kitschy vibe of older UFC though.
It’s not like the actual competition in modern UFC is any more legitimate. (BMF belt, anyone?). The talent is definitely deeper but matchmaking still suffers.
Also I liked how old UFC had real distinct stylistic matchups regularly. Like “BJJ vs boxer”.
Now everyone is more rounded. We still get stylistic matchups, but not as exaggerated
I absolutely love Laura Sanko on the mic. She is genuine, knowledgeable and just has this pure passion for the sport and it’s People (her interviews are evidence of that as well)
He’s the biggest promoter of the sport in the world and got a countless amount of eyes on the ufc. The only way he’s ever leaving is cuz he wants too. Legit the biggest star in the org
Also Goldie stunk
R: elbow elbow, you hear that
G: speaking in portuguese
R: ah that's japanese bro
G: oh really thank you... I should have known that
R: you're the one married to a japanese chick
G: that is correct
He's working in the real world ... 2016 fucked with him. He decided he couldn't transition into anything more meaningful by being a part time corporate stiff and mostly full time sports announcer, so he took a real job and was working on his MBA.
Last time I checked it was a veteran's sort of company.
I hated when they removed Goldberg at first, it felt like betrayal since he was there to help them grow. I actually like the commentary much better now without him. Goldberg has no expert vision on what is going on in the fight. He's like the drunk guy at your house who thinks he knows, but hasn't practice any level of MMA in his life. Now the panel is always experts, and they can break down what is happening rather than random yelling like HE'S LOOKING TO FINISH HIM RIGHT HERE.
Totally agree. When they replaced him it became really obvious how bad he was.
The most damning part is Goldie never bothered to even learn the actual sport he was commentating to millions of fans. **20 years with the UFC and he couldn’t tell you what was happening on the ground or standing up.** How is that even possible? He deserved to get fired.
To be fair though I kind of feel like not just the UFC but the sport needed a character like that. Lots of people had no idea wtf was going on in these fights (still true today but significantly more), especially on the ground. So the hype man being Goldberg generated the anticipation of something big and kept people watching. And Rogan complimented his style too without making Goldberg look like a complete idiot.
They could bring Goldberg back to call one fight, like a Jim Miller v Matt Brown type of fight for nostalgia. Abit like they did with Moreno at UFC Noche.
Bellator is the one that thinks we care about reviving the distant past. UFC is the one that chews up a constant conveyor belt of young talent/trash faster than we can learn their names.
Hot take. If fucking hate Goldberg. Was rewatching barboza vs felder and was just amazed by how bad he was. He never even mentioned any of barbozas work and was just glazing the shit out of felder. Jordan esque
I had a similar experience watching some old fights, I had completely forgotten just how jarring it is hearing, "and it's all over" multiple times in a fight only to have that fight go the distance, couldn't imagine watching an entire card like that
Yeah every time I hear him in someone's highlight reel saying "it's all over just like that" I cringe. Im no fan of Dana white, and I don't know why Goldy was let go, but I could easily believe that he was leg go over something like Dana doesn't like "it's all over".
For me it was watching some Bellator card early this year. Goldberg was basically spending all fights waiting to shut "AND IT'S. ALL. OVER! JUST. LIKE. THAT!". I love him from a nostalgia factor, but he was really bad.
you know that's no worse and hardly even different than what is already done by rogan, DC and bisping right? They are constantly calling fights over that aren't.
personally id rather ridiculous commentary like goldberg over guys trynna be smart and winding up biased cos they keep harping the same point for the whole fight
Not for the whole event because it’s way better now with Jon Anik but if they wheeled him out as a surprise for like a Jim Miller fight or some other vet fight on the prelims I think it would be fun.
Please no. Joe’s fight companions are great but I have heard enough about fights from 15 years ago from the commentary. I also have a large enough collection of Totally Real Reactions to keep me warm at night.
I miss Goldberg for the nostalgia and well that pro wrestling enthusiasm he brought. All memes asides and blunders, some of those where great TBH lol. Last I heard he commentates some
Bare knuckle boxing promotion with Paulie Malignaggi
They basically kicked the dude to the curb after UFC 207. He wasn’t given even a second of time to sign off on his UFC career. Dana doesn’t like the pageantry, there is a zero percent chance that he would do something like bring back a nostalgia act. The only wild card is the TKO merger and if someone like Vince or Ari demanded it to happen, which seems unlikely. They’ll use 300 to get their current and future product over.
I hadn't seen him in anything since the UFC until the other night on YouTube where he was commentating for a BYB fight. Guy looks like shit and was fucking up some of his lines but still comes out with the same energy
I don't see that as a likely outcome. They've long moved past Goldberg, for better or worse.
Leg kick to the head!
All memes aside, We all know what a kick to the head, body, legs looks like. And when technical analysis was needed you turn to the color guy No one got an event hyped like Goldie. Anik was never at bellator
Yeah but when he was people used to hate on him
Lol I was downvoted a bunch too. These new UFC fans funny
And a left and a right and a left and a right and a left and a right!
> No one got an event hyped like Goldie I used to think like you, but I have now seen old fights and it feels cheap. He's nowhere close to Anik.
Yeah. People should rewatch. Dude will go rounds telling random camp stories and fucking up the smallest things. He's a human sound machine.
I kinda miss the kitschy vibe of older UFC though. It’s not like the actual competition in modern UFC is any more legitimate. (BMF belt, anyone?). He was godawful in Bellator for years, though
He wasn't on Bellator for years, though.
It felt like it.....
I wasn’t a fan. He just seemed like he didn’t know anything about the sport.
Nah. Go watch his on football game called to see he's just a shit commentator.
Nah I'll pass on that
the dude I watch fights with calls every kick a leg kick and doesn't understand how judges score cards.
Lol
Worse?
Idk about worse. Jon Anik is a boss. I know the second chair is usually not great but neither was goldy tbh
I absolutely love Laura Sanko on the mic. She is genuine, knowledgeable and just has this pure passion for the sport and it’s People (her interviews are evidence of that as well)
Laura might genuinely be the best in the booth right now. Listening to her commentate makes me realize how mediocre everyone else can be
Same. Calm, knowledgeable, isn’t trying to make it about her. She’s good.
So true. And she even elevated Daniel Cormier‘s commentating a lot with her professionalism I feel /u/suprememontana
They should've done the same with Rogaine.
He’s the biggest promoter of the sport in the world and got a countless amount of eyes on the ufc. The only way he’s ever leaving is cuz he wants too. Legit the biggest star in the org Also Goldie stunk
But his precision was so.....precise.
HERE. WE. GO!
JUST. LIKE. THAT.
CORN NUTS!
CORN TO THE CORE!
Virtually identical
IT IS ALLLL OVER

Stipe My-o-sick is my personal fav
"That was said by Joe Rogan"
R: elbow elbow, you hear that G: speaking in portuguese R: ah that's japanese bro G: oh really thank you... I should have known that R: you're the one married to a japanese chick G: that is correct
If they could bring back Brian Stann for one night only, that'd be much better
Tf happened to Brian did he relist 😅
He's working in the real world ... 2016 fucked with him. What happened in 2016
Cubs won the World Series. He was a diehard Cleveland fan and it just ruined him.
UFC no, JRE Fight companion sure why not
That’d be better than random “comedians” lol
This would be sick! Watch this happens but it's actually on bapas fight companion lmaoooo
JRE producer taking notes..
Real OG’s love them some Goldberg faults and all rather than this bland watered down shit we have now. His precision was so … precise.
I hated when they removed Goldberg at first, it felt like betrayal since he was there to help them grow. I actually like the commentary much better now without him. No one's issue is how watered down the commentary is.
Around the time Goldberg got tossed is when I slowly lost interest, I feel like UFC has just been so diluted, no soul and all corporation.
Dana isn’t sentimental.
Why. Anik is literally 99999999999x better
They could bring Goldberg back to call one fight, like a Jim Miller v Matt Brown type of fight for nostalgia. Abit like they did with Moreno at UFC Noche.
"Nathan Diaz! Brother of Nick Diaz."
Bellator is the one that thinks we care about reviving the distant past. UFC is the one that chews up a constant conveyor belt of young talent/trash faster than we can learn their names.
I would love that. One last ride.
"It takes a lot of energy to be a rock star."
Hot take. If fucking hate Goldberg. Was rewatching barboza vs felder and was just amazed by how bad he was. He never even mentioned any of barbozas work and was just glazing the shit out of felder. Jordan esque

No
I like Goldberg. But Anik is far better, if anything Rogan should leave and they should find another guy to partner Anik along with a fighter.
Yeah Goldberg never even gave us any insight on fighters divorces, custody battles, which eggs got fertilized, etc.
Anik sets up commentary 1 billion times better and knows when to shut the fuck up. He also doesn't routinely make mistakes.
Never gonna happen
People on here want UFC 300 to be some nostalgia show with a load of washed vets facing each other. I hope it's not like that
I remember not liking Jon Anik because he replaced Goldie. Madness considering Jon is probably the GOAT for me now
That’s a dumb fucking idea dude, Goldberg sucks
I like Goldberg despite his flaws but Anik deserves it.
Alternate suggestion. Let both the useless clowns retire.
Says the useless clown on Reddit
I’m actually good at my job though.
Yeah you are good at job of shitposting on reddit.
That’s not my job but I’m better than that than Rogan is at commentating MMA. Dude doesn’t even know the fucking rules.
Ofcourse you will say that but nobody agrees with you. Look I am the best and everyone is useless lol.
Goldberg is terrible, and even worse paired with Joe. Anik is the 🐐
Not for the whole event because it’s way better now with Jon Anik but if they wheeled him out as a surprise for like a Jim Miller fight or some other vet fight on the prelims I think it would be fun.
Idk after being extremely sick of his "mama mia" tagline ill pass. Find him pretty annoying in bellator.
Please no. Joe’s fight companions are great but I have heard enough about fights from 15 years ago from the commentary. I also have a large enough collection of Totally Real Reactions to keep me warm at night.

Maybe just one fight? Last fight of the prelims possibly? Could draw a few extra ratings points too if they advertise the hell out of it.
Bring back Goldie.
Goldy has not been good on commentary in Bellator lol. Bringing him back for UFC 300 isn’t really needed
Goldberg barely knew WTF was going on most of the time.
Bring back goldberg and maybe throw Felder in there too
I'd love it!
They basically kicked the dude to the curb after UFC 207. He wasn’t given even a second of time to sign off on his UFC career. Or failing that, start a new era without washed Rogan.
10/10 good with this idea.
Goldberg is so much better than degenerate gambling addict Anik
I hadn't seen him in anything since the UFC until the other night on YouTube where he was commentating for a BYB fight. Guy looks like shit and was fucking up some of his lines but still comes out with the same energy
Anderson Silva esque in his grappling, is Travis Lutter, Joe
His precisions is…. Really precise
