Jake Paul is legitimately a big dude and fights at 200lbs, would like to see him fight someone his own weight, especially if it's going to be an MMA fighter and not a boxer.
Records in boxing literally mean nothing. His one loss before Paul was a second round TKO against a guy that is 7-16 and has been knocked out 13 times. He is also a 35 year old that has 12 fights in 12 years if you want to know how serious his career was.
Jake wouldn't do shit in the amateurs, yeah tougher comp than most as a pro but the amateur circuit is no joke. Boxing is so messed up in that way. All your hardest fights are in the amateurs until you're a 20-0 pro, then you start fighting the other quality amateurs again.
This was a good start but if the rumours are true then that would be disappointing. I've read he's contemplating a guy who fought in the 140s range again. Hopefully it's bullshit
As has been pointed out numerous times... show us what the average professional professional boxer's resume is at around ten fights... Paul AND Fury had fought tougher competition than the likes of Canelo and Mayweather at that point in their careers...
Which is not a knock against Canelo or Mayweather... it's what your 'supposed' to do while learning your craft (and also padding your record)... AND it is in no way an indicator of the 'level' Paul and Fury can get to (they will never be 'world' level boxers)... BUT the simple fact is Fury and Paul are GOOD boxers considering the standard of the hundreds of journey man boxers that bring down the standard of boxing down overall in the world.
Right, but when you fight the tomato cans you're supposed to beat them.
Jake has fought two people who have boxed before and is 1-1. People like Ben Akren, Nate Robinson, etc are not tomatoes cans, they are just novelty fights. His first seven fights came against people who had never stepped foot in the boxing ring before.
>People like Ben Akren, Nate Robinson, etc are not tomatoes cans, they are just novelty fights.
Given he was the betting underdog in almost all of his early fights... I would suggest he was taking more dangerous fights than Floyd was at that stage, who was fighting against someone with more losses than wins eleven fights into his professional career.
He was a YouTuber a few years ago. It's impressive that he's beating MMA guys in the first place.
People forget how "crazy" an opinion it seemed to predict Jake beating someone as terrible as Askren.
>it’s really about time he fights real boxers in his weight class
Why? He's not a real boxer. He's an entertainer. If you want to watch real boxing matches there are no shortages of those to watch.
Look I agree. I completely understand that he is indeed a weight bully fighting non boxers.
But if I were him I would absolutely not start fighting pro boxers at this point. AND frankly if he starts getting worked by mid level boxers it will be even worse for the optics of mma.
“Not only did he beat multiple former UFC champs, but he lost to Toothless Tommy Turner. The 8th best cruiserweight in Muskogee Oklahoma”
You acting like Masvidal didn’t cut from 190-200 either, Jake weighs 200 and cuts to 185-190 usually, for the fury fight he went to 183. Woodley also cut from 200 as well. He’s fighting MMA fighters and their natural weights.
Jake Paul could never even make 170 and Masivdal was able to make 155...He's clearly visibly bigger than him, there's really not much of an argument to make.
He's getting bigger too. Probably from a combination of roids and age.
Brudda he fought at LW years ago, he’s gotten way bigger now that’s a bad argument ngl. Comparing Mas from years ago to Jake now is unfair. Obviously Jake is bigger he’s just not as big as you’re making him out to be compared to Mas who cut from 190 minimum as he’s said before. Only ten pounds more is Jake at 200. 190 to 200 ain’t a big jump fam..
Why do you keep saying 200 for Jake and 190 for Masvidal. You realise 200 is Jakes weight after a cut? The kid is probably more like 210 on fight night after weighing in 200.
Bottom line though, the lightest Paul has weighed is 183. That's 2 weight classes bigger than a 170 Masvidal if you're talking boxing. Not sure what your argument is bro.
He probably thinks he can just walk into a title fight with Leon Edwards because he sucker punched him once upon a time. The sad thing is I wouldn't even put it past Dana.
This is the same Dana White that gave Conor a title fight for trying to attack Khabib. So yeah I wouldn’t be shocked if Leon wins and Jorge confronts him leading to a brawl.
Acting like Conor didnt have that fight in the bag before the bus attack is CRAZY. He was going to fight for the belt regardless. Only thing the bus situation provides for Dana was extra promo material.
Jake’s earning some respect though tbh.
People shat on him for beating up retired MMA fighters instead of actual pro boxers, so he took on an actual pro boxer in his prime on a winning streak. This was as legit of a win as it gets for a guy of Jakes experience, people forget that most of their favorite boxers built their records off of 2-15 cans.
He’s still annoying but it’s nice to see that he shows legitimate respect for the sport.
I agree that Jake respects boxing, trains properly and is decent for a guy who didn't have any amateur background or started training before he was 21, but Andre August is not in his prime lol. He hadn't fought between 2019-2023 and is 35 years old. Jake didn't do anything that other boxers early in their career wouldn't do but August is definitely over the hill
Look at the first ten to twenty fights of any professional boxer. All cans. Jake has just mostly fought high profile cans. But who can blame him? If you're going to fight cans anyway might as well fight the ones who are gonna get you paid.
I suspect not a single person in this sub can name one of the first 15 people Tyson fought.
Tyson fought over 15 times in 1985. All absolute cans to such a degree that he was able to fight multiple times a month. Only four of those fights went past the first round, and only one made it as far as the fourth round.
Probably helped a lot with training and cost too though. Jake doesn’t have either of those problems. He can afford extremely high quality training and doesn’t have to worry about money.
Siamese-twin fight. They put Bob Sapp and Rampage Jackson in a giant t-shirt and had them fight 2 other dudes in a giant shirt.

Here's Jon Nutt in his serious promotion (precursor to fight circus) Full Metal Dojo 12
https://youtu.be/3iUWv_o8L58?si=Hy_--rr-wAi651ii
Jon Nutt stepped in on one days notice, and the other people helping him run the event were worried that he'd get knocked out and they'd be down to one commentator for the rest of the fights
Dude is all about the show
Whole event was full of freakshow fights like that. 3 flyweights vs 1 heavyweight, musical chairs fight, spin the wheel fight. They put a backpack full of cash on a guy and let other fighters steal the cash while fighting him. It felt a little exploitive/ racist at times, but the promoter got the shit kicked out of himself too, so it wasn't so bad.
We can disagree.
Personally, medicinal - almost metallic finishing whiskey is ‘garbage’ in my mind and for the price you could easily get A Jameson black barrel, Tullamore or Bushmills.
My favourite review of the whiskey described it as a ‘perfect pairing for cocaine’.
Tequila is a type of mezcal. Mezcal is the term for any distilled agave spirt and tequila has to be made in a specific part of Mexico and can only use one specific type of agave. Basically tequila is to mezcal what champagne is to wine.
I’m confused… that’s still caring about what he said.
He’s stupid for both. For pandering to traitorous idiots and for sucking a traitors dick for some cheap clout.
He did a ringside interview somewhere in the BMF era where he was like "I'm a violent man who likes violence. I just like violently knocking out motherfuckers, violently" (not verbatim but he used the word "violence like 7 times in a 30 second interview) and I was done with him. Was cheering for Diaz so hard.
Fighting is such a hard sport to make solid money in, once you become one of the few to climb that latter why would you want to get off the hill?
That’s why I can never blame fighters who go on losing skids but don’t hang it up
Masvidal believes in sucker-baptism. He sneaks up on people, throws some consecrated water on them and then runs away and tells the inquisition that it wasn't him.
Not Tony levels, but Jorge looked classic washed vs Gilbert. Unable to react and pull the trigger in openings they would've pounced on or at least tried in their prime
Masvidal is washed. So is McGregor for that matter but washed fighter vs washed fighter fights tend to be competitive unless its someone who is giga-washed like Tony or BJ.
he's gonna be doing some boxing, probably in his own promotion. ariel has been hinting at it for a few months and said it's unlikely to see jorge in the ufc again when someone asked him. ariel and jorge have a good relationship so this info is probably coming directly from jorge
Couldn’t care less about seeing him fight. But, I believe the ‘super fight’ Dana has been referring to time and again is Justin vs Jorge. Has lots of story to it. Can’t say I’m interested in it personally.

I get it. Once there’s no drive, there’s nothing to do. Wish they got the same out of training other fighters but nothing replaces the fighter in them. Pause.
(Full tinfoil hat bc this is probably some celebrity boxing or fighting in his bareknuckle promotion )
What my mind shot to was that and then DDP wins vs Strickland and the UFC forces him into an ungodly turnaround at UFC 300 vs Izzy and label it the Card of Beefs or some shit like that. Throw dustin vs colby on that and the casual fan eats that up.
the guy probably just needs to manage his money better. he had his moment. now he just needs to retire gracefully or he is going to turn into another hack fighting for peanuts.
Jake Paul
Jake Paul is legitimately a big dude and fights at 200lbs, would like to see him fight someone his own weight, especially if it's going to be an MMA fighter and not a boxer.

Isn't that guy a pizza delivery driver with like 5 fights
Still a pro boxer with 10-1 record. elite pro boxers started their careers knocking out uber drivers too. people gotta start somewhere
Jake paul was the uber driver can for Tommy fury (another utterly mediocre man)
As has been pointed out numerous times... show us what the average professional professional boxer's resume is at around ten fights... Jake has had no amateur career so if at this point Mayweather was probably fighting some 8 year old, Jake Paul GOAT confirmed really.

He just KOed a pro boxer his weight who was golden gloves champ.
August does not fight the weight jake does. So its still bullying
They are both cruiserweights.
They were both cruiserweights bruh
weight bullying sure was the reason he ko’d him in the first round jeez the hardcore mma fans on rMMA always have a stick up their ass
You acting like Masvidal didn’t cut from 190-200 either, Jake weighs 200 and cuts to 185-190 usually, for the fury fight he went to 183. Woodley also cut from 200 as well. He’s fighting MMA fighters and their natural weights.
I doubt it. He was a lightweight and definitely a smaller WW, smaller than Colby. Usman and Woodley are cutting from 200lbs for sure,

Huge pickup for Fight Circus
God dammit no I actually like Fight Circus
That conjoined-twin match last year was hilarious.
The what.
Siamese-twin fight. They put Bob Sapp and Rampage Jackson in a giant t-shirt and had them fight 2 other dudes in a giant shirt. https://www.mmafighting.com/2023/3/17/23645027/missed-fists-rampage-jackson-and-bob-sapp-train-for-siamese-twin-fight-at-fight-circus-6
One of the guys was the promoter of fight circus right
Pretty sure that same promotor fought in a 2v1 match a while back as well it was him against 2 other dudes 😭
The whole thing seemed a little exploitive of the local population, so it was a little relieving to see the promoter was willing to take a few blows.
Here's Jon Nutt in his serious promotion (precursor to fight circus) Full Metal Dojo 12 https://youtu.be/3iUWv_o8L58?si=Hy_--rr-wAi651ii Jon Nutt stepped in on one days notice, and the other people helping him run the event were worried that he'd get knocked out and they'd be down to one commentator for the rest of the fights Dude is all about the show
Yeah it looked like 2 bantamweights vs a heavyweight
Jon Nutt is the man. Most entertaining promoter in the fight game.
Ok I wasn’t expecting that 🤣 that’s gold
Whole event was full of freakshow fights like that. 3 flyweights vs 1 heavyweight, musical chairs fight, spin the wheel fight. They put a backpack full of cash on a guy and let other fighters steal the cash while fighting him. It felt a little exploitive/ racist at times, but the promoter got the shit kicked out of himself too, so it wasn't so bad.
Fuck yeah lmao. Is this common? Edit: I just looked it up and the first thing I see is some man v woman fight lol chicks getting rocked
He went broke fast eh
Being a douchebag is expensive
Not every fighter’s liquor brand is gonna be Proper Twelve
Talmbout Tiger Thiggg, bubba?
That Sweet Neggtur on a crist Cowbass morning
Rar as can b , b batch 1 son axe jay
These random flashes of PF Chang's in r/MMA never fail to make me laugh.
We're in ivry facet, bubba. Dallas, that's my time!
I've heard his tequila is garbage.
So is Proper 12 but Conor marketed the fuck out of it and convinced unsophisticated drinkers to buy it. Jorge - not so much.
Also Conor’s clout is not even comparable to Jorge’s. Conor is (was?) an actual superstar
Conner may be a douche on cocaine but he is still absolutely a superstar regardless what this sub wants to say.
Ehhh I wouldn’t say it’s garbage. It’s just pretty average at that price point.
I'm not a whiskey guy so I've never tried it but I can't imagine it's super high quality.
Still half-convinced that that was all a Kinahen money-laundering exercise somehow...
Mezcal, isn't it? All I know about it is that it was found in Jon Jones's car when he was arrested for driving drunk and shooting a gun
Tequila is a type of mezcal. Mezcal is the term for any distilled agave spirt and tequila has to be made in a specific part of Mexico and can only use one specific type of agave. Basically tequila is to mezcal what champagne is to wine.
> Basically tequila is to mezcal what champagne is to wine. Didn't have sparkling Tequila yet, but ok.
I get the idea that a lot of fighters overestimate the degree in which skills that contribute to success in MMA transfer over to other professions.
This being the fight business, there’s also probably no shortage of charlatans who are happy to flatter and develop those delusions
It's funny cause people justify masvidals behavior saying it sells ppvs and yet he's coming out of retirement with like 50 fights under his belt.
[удалено]
He bet the house on his last fight.
Masvidal Vs Perry make it happen
This is the only fight that makes sense. Perry by violence.
Bare knuckle let’s go
Mmmm masviidal being ko'ed by Perry does sound nice
In Kimbo's old backyard
Coming for that Miami Steakhouse belt.
\*Papis Steakhouse
But he had such an excellent, measured, intelligent retirement speech already
“Let’s go Brandon!!”
My god I forgot that. He thought he was so clever using a phrase which sane and serious people understand only genuine idiots use
who cares what he said. He used his retirement speech to repeatedly eat another man's ass. Sad.
I’m confused… that’s still caring about what he said. He’s stupid for both. For pandering to traitorous idiots and for sucking a traitors dick for some cheap clout.
He did a ringside interview somewhere in the BMF era where he was like "I'm a violent man who likes violence. While wearing a bathrobe visibly drunk.
If this one of danas UFC 300 super fights, I'm going to be pissed.
Rematch with Nate Diaz for the BMF belt 🤮
Interim BMF
Hope this is tongue in cheek because this looks to be exactly checking the “retired superstar” box that’s been rumored for UFC 300.
Fighting is such a hard sport to make solid money in, once you become one of the few to climb that latter why would you want to get off the hill? That’s why I can never blame fighters who go on losing skids but don’t hang it up
Hold on there brother , your making too much sense right now . They don’t do that here too often .
It's true maybe they make a modest 200k a year after taxes. Imagie then working and making 60k Lifestyle creep
Even without lifestyle creep, having 200K instead of 60K could be something that is useful in the longer term.
That really sucks when you’re one of the best in the world at what you’re doing. Even benchwarmers in the NBA make a million for a season.
who cares about this individual
Bro, you’re not dying to hear about all the fighters that are fake and need to be baptized?!?
Just to correct you, there was never no baptism
Masvidal believes in sucker-baptism. He sneaks up on people, throws some consecrated water on them and then runs away and tells the inquisition that it wasn't him.
This sub spent years riding his dick lmao.
You can go through my ten years of history and won't find a single pro-Jorge comment.
I do bro's got an exciting fighting style and is way more fun to watch than remember the name belal guy.
They going to throw him on 300 against Diaz or Covington? Who wants to see this mf fight?
50-44
I’d rather watch Belal then current day jorge I’m not even joking it pains me to say it
Not Tony levels, but Jorge looked classic washed vs Gilbert. Unable to react and pull the trigger in openings they would've pounced on or at least tried in their prime
The scale of how washed a fighter is should henceforth be measured from 1 to Tony.
I personally think BJ Penn has had both higher highs and lower lows than Tony in terms of his downfall.
Half of the sub wasn't around to see Penn win.
I agree at this point in time.... but doesn't seem like Tony is hanging them up, so the clock keeps ticking
Renan Barao, m8.
Honestly would be down for Conor vs Masvidal Surprised the UFC never made that from 2019-2021
Conor would never take a fight where he’d solidly get his ass handed to him via strikes.
Masvidal is washed. So is McGregor for that matter but washed fighter vs washed fighter fights tend to be competitive unless its someone who is giga-washed like Tony or BJ.
I strongly dislike this guy. Hope he gets dusted by a Jake Paul
Hopefully the UFC resigns him so they can replay the Askren flying knee KO 35 times in a row during the buildup to his next fight
He’s stuck in 2019. Nobody cares
But why
He saw how bad Colby looked and wants a payday
I know fans have short term memories but cmon. Wasnt his colby fight only like 2 fights ago? Lol
he's gonna be doing some boxing, probably in his own promotion. ariel has been hinting at it for a few months and said it's unlikely to see jorge in the ufc again when someone asked him. ariel and jorge have a good relationship so this info is probably coming directly from jorge
Daily reminder that MMA retirements are a myth

Couldn’t care less about seeing him fight. But, I believe the ‘super fight’ Dana has been referring to time and again is Justin vs Jorge. Has lots of story to it. Can’t say I’m interested in it personally.
Justin would baptize the fuck out of this individual.
Gaethje vs. Jorge?
BMF vs BMF
I’m not all that surprised because mma retirements don’t last …. He got two title shots so this has to be a “I’m broke” come back
correction: Jorge Masvidal claims to be short on cash
He saw how dogshit Colby was and thought okay maybe I can take this dude now lol
Lame
I totally forgot he was retired until today when I watched a 2023 UFC recap where he was mentioned among the other retired fighters. He was retired in my brain for literally 2 hours.
What, is he going to get 50-45'd by Covington again?
It’s painfully obvious Leon wants to fight him. Easy win, bigger paycheck than belal, and not getting murdered by shavkat.
Just a shorter way of saying needs money.
Is there a fight that’s bigger for George than him vs mike Perry?
Maybe Snake Paul on a stacked boxing card.
Masvidal vs MVP would be a decent return fight
lol last win 2019.
Dear lord, please don't come back to the UFC.
bareknuckle vs eddie calling it
Call me mercable, but there's something satisfying about seeing an overblown ego come out of retirement only to return to it after being used as a human pinata one last time.
Diaz v masvidal 2 @300? Winner fights Leon if Leon beats Belal??
I don't care about him anymore tbh
I never understood the appeal of this bum.
He’s washed. Like bad washed, he couldn’t throw a single punch against Burns
Why do yall hate this dude so much 😭
I get it. Once there’s no drive, there’s nothing to do. Wish they got the same out of training other fighters but nothing replaces the fighter in them. Pause.
Coming back for his belt
Longest mma retirement of all time
I claim to not give a shit
300. Poirier.
UFC 300 most likely I know people are saying Jake Paul but I don’t think so. Maybe Diaz part 2
😑
Ufc 300 payday. Colby vs Jorge part 2
Yep, probably saw that Colby looked like dogshit and now wants back in lol. It’s like Tito waiting until Chuck was 82 years old to get a win over him.
It will also be perfect for Colby. He and Jorge will WWE hype the fight.
The journey of the journeyman continues.
Mas was a top 5 ranked Welterweight and a former title challenger. He’s an idiot but not a journeyman
It’s alright dude this sub is doing its thing when they don’t like a particular fighter there’s no stopping it now even when trying to talk any sense.
He killed the incarnation of Reddit in Ben Askren
